Thought he had a decent game today - such quick feet for someone of his height.

    Remy Cabella

I do like the look of Cabella, but one thing I've noticed is that he doesn't appear to be that quick. Is that a lack of match sharpness, being unfairly compared to people like Aarons and Obertan or just that he isn't that quick?

    Paul Dummett

I agree with this. Seems anyone not foreign and not costing millions is fair game. I'm afraid that is utter rubbish. No it isn't. he gets shitloads of grief on here and never gives less than 100% and is a decent defender. Haidara is better going forward than him but isn't as good a defender but because he's foreign he's lauded on here. I don't think anyone gives Dummett shitloads of grief at all - people, as far as I can see, analyse his performances and judge him accordingly. It's got absolutely nothing to do with where he is from. If anything, being local helps Dummett.

  5. He is still quite clearly a better player than Dummett. We really should be looking to develop Haidara.

    Alan Shearer

Some of his goals on that programme are just exceptional. He scores absolutely every type of goal. Such an amazing player.
  7. I don't really get this - it isn't as if the bloke is Fumaca or something. He's quite a young, highly regarded striker... really weird. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/aug/04/newcastle-united-facundo-ferreyra-quality-needs-confidence-football http://www.espnfc.com/blog/scouts-notebook/78/post/1962143/reported-newcastle-target-facundo-ferreyra-is-worth-a-gamble
  8. Struggling to pick between these. A combination of both is pretty much what I love about football. Same here - I do love a traditional number 9 when they just seem like an unstoppable force of nature.
  9. Was impressed that he took a lot of kicks today but kept going back for more against two centre halves, each about twice his size.
  10. Not 100% sure on this, but I think there is a football stats guy on twitter (Ted Knutson) who may have just been appointed head of player analytics for us.
  11. I can't even be bothered to argue with Lee Ryder on Twitter anymore about Lee Bowyer's views. It's just pointless.
  12. Eh… Ellis was in charge for years and they hated him.
  13. On the bright side - given our next two matches - if we had any chance at all of staying up this season (with or without Pardew) we really needed 3 points today. I'm really trying to find a bright side there.
  14. Great tweet about Obertan: Iain Macintosh ‏@iainmacintosh 1m1 minute ago Obertan is a collection of random prosthetic limbs stuffed willy-nily into a large sausage, powered by a jet engine and controlled by no-one
  15. You forgotten Dyer refusing to play right wing for Bobby? And Cabaye refusing to play full stop? DJ's right. Cabaye did nothing for NUFC compared to Dyer. Splitting hairs there to be honest - both pretty similar acts.

  17. Most of the guesses appear to be Pardew and the guy has said the guesses aren't a million miles off.
  18. I think Solano was an intelligent enough player to have been good in any team. I think he was sorely underrated actually - such a great touch and amazing vision.
  19. My 2 year old nephew is going to this for his first game. God knows why.
  20. Wouldn't rate him below Clark - but agree with the rest.
  21. I wouldn't disagree that he is better than our current midfielders - as I said earlier, he would walk into our current team. However, I am not certain that I remember his technique in quite the way you do - I remember a lot of misplaced passes and poor touches. What he did have though was a great ball carrying ability and was excellent at launching counter attacks. However, when you look at his stats though - 23 goals in 193 league games just wasn't enough. I doubt his assist stats make for much better reading.
  22. Out of that team, he was probably the player I had the least time for. His technique and vision just weren't good enough ultimately.
  23. Solano was absolutely integral in Dyer's better games.
