I must admit I do get excited when we're at home on a Monday night live on Sky. There's just that something special for me about playing Monday night on Sky under the SJP lights, especially when they show aerial shots of SJP. Could probably trace it to that 'Cantona' game back in March 96. What an atmosphere that was. The hype for the game was unbelivable and we played fantastically that first half. Another Monday night home game that sticks to my mind was our first game of the season where we played West Ham and hammered them 4-0. Shearer scored and Viana made his debut I think. Just hope tonight with a great atmosphere, we can hand out a good beating to these c***s and sing a nice song for Brucey at the end too. Our last 2 home games on Sky have been shocking though.

Having a laugh with their pre-match thread. Hoping we hammer them to get kebab-loving Bruce to go https://www.villatalk.com/topic/16169-prematch-thread/

Villa fans wanting us to hammer them so that Bruce will be gone. They sound like us when we wanted Pardew out https://www.villatalk.com/topic/16169-prematch-thread/

Newcastle United promoted back to the Premier League

What is the biggest lead we've had over the third placed team over the course of this season? Think it was around 9-12 points. Now its down to 6. Hopefully we'll pull away from Huddersfield while they're occupied with the FA Cup. Would rather have healthy gaps between us and whoever is in third than having games in hand. -
Need another strong defensive display from our back 4 again. We used to be good going forward and had the defence that was always reliable. Without Gayle, and a shaky defence, we've looked wobbly. Glad that these two problems looks to have been solved.

Would love to read a Villa forum tonite. They were already after Bruce after last week's last minute lost. Today is even worse I would like to think.

The ref and other players were so oblivious to what was going on. Only the keeper saw it. Even the commentator only saw it on the replays.

Quite surprising he was only sent off twice in his time here considering how people labelled him a red-card waiting to happen.

Newcastle United promoted back to the Premier League

Need to 'protect' our key players against the likes of Reading, Brighton, Huddersfield and Leeds. Not saying we shouldn't play our key players but our players should be aware 1 cynical challenge might criple them and the team for a period of time. Everyone wants to beat us, everyone wants to chase us. We just need to be aware and clever protecting our lead and our team. -
Rafa is such a class man that he will ensure us promotion eventhough deep down, he has the same feeling as us that Ashley, Carr and the rest of the gang will screw him over in the summer and he might have to walk away. If I was in the same position, I'd probably leave now and let Ashley's wet billion pounds dream go down the drain.

Didn't Vardy kick out just then?

It was December they sacked Hughton. Oh aye. We beat the mackems 5-1in October didn't we? Got mixed up there.
-
Come on Brentford! Suddenly that QPR point doesn't look that bad though a win would have been even better. Brighton going through their rough patch now after losing that unbeaten run of theirs, similar to us losing that winning record we were aiming for.
-
Be a good backup to Krul. Though I doubt he'd want to play second fiddle in the Premier League after playing the majority of our promotion chase.
-
Ashley should just cash in on us in the summer when promotion is confirmed and we are hot property at the top. I fear if Rafa does stay, Ashley will just sack him off in October like he did with Hughton.

A genuine question. Who takes the match ball home when there are 2 or more players who score a hatrick in the same match? Was thinking this because of the 2 hatricks in thd Napoli game last night. And what happens if the two hattrick scorers are on opposing sides? Have always had these questions in my mind. Think I remember Beardsley and Cole scoring a hatrick in a game against Wimbledon iinm.

I haven't watched a Villa game on telly for a while but did take a few glances at their game against Brentford. But it's come quite as a surprise to me that so many of their fans want him gone already. I thought he had a good start but then started drawing games again. Didn't actually think that it was down to their style of play. Was quite worried for the upcoming Monday night game we have against them but reading that forum made me a bit more confident. Bruce being a former Brummie and him splashing a lot of money in January wouldn't have helped him either. Another 6-1 against Villa or another 5-1 against Bruce would be an epic Monday night game to remember.

Thought up to that miss, he had done decently and got the assist for our goal. He held the ball up well and a few lay offs were decent too. The time where Hayden had a shot on goal, Mitrovic actually peeled off a defender to find space and could have had a better chance than Hayden's attempt. Needs a goal. That miss blew whatever confidence he still had and it went downwards for him after the miss. Remembered when he missed a sitter in the League Cup win against Preston. Then he scored and it was better for him in that and the next game.

Has anyone caught up with Paul Merson yet and ask him what he thinks of the forrin' nobody in charge at Hull right now?
