I’m pleased if it pushes. I think he has the attributes our CBs currently lack and is still young to be molded by Eddie. Also helps to have Schär who shares the same first language.
  2. We’ve got Trippier in the middle Honestly been thinking about that - see if Eddie pulls a Lahm out of the hat.
  3. Seen the Owen comparisons. Dad made a point that Owen at least completed his contract.
  4. This does feel like an Eddie move, given how he benched Isak for the league defeat vs them to not give much away for the cup final.
  5. It’s just another play to unsettle and make it seem like Leipzig have to accept the ManUre offer, even if it seems lighter than ours
  6. Not a fan of his actions but we've just had absolutely no cojones without a CEO/DoF. Getting played so easily.
  7. I agree with this. Lots of Arsenal fans in Singapore were praising both teams tbh. Results matter less and it's more about connecting with the local community and putting on a spectacle. This one seems far away from that though.
  8. Tyne bridge. Looks like a fingerprint to me.
  9. And find a coat to be as incognito as possible? Away trip idea sounds convenient especially near London where my cousin lives. But thanks everyone - the Singapore trip just left me wanting to go for the real thing - complete with soaking in the culture and all. Edit: Another thing the SG fan group told me is to try finding more Filipino/Philippines-based fans, gather once and maybe start a supporters' group here. Our club is apparently aggressive now in establishing these official supporter groups, and are responsive to emails to get such groups certified and truly connected to the club. The Indo fans even unfurled their certification email banner which shows how much they value it.
  10. Definitely the SJP 'pilgrimage' is the next step! If I found this life-changing already then I couldn't begin to imagine how it would be like to just soak in the city and the matchday atmosphere.
  11. I’ve just flown home from Singapore and it was the experience of a lifetime. Just some highlights: - Queuing two hours in a mall to see the Carabao Cup as well as Shay and Shola. Security had to step in when the lines backed up all the way to the other mall. Feet killed me but it was all worth it for a once-in-a-lifetime picture. - You still couldn’t get kits customised in the Philippines, but I’m glad I found a store which agreed to do my personal kits from last season with Burn on the back, in the correct NUFC set, and with Carabao cup patches. - The Singaporean fan group was gathering all the Asian supporter clubs in the steps of the stadium for a “Toon Army Asia Alliance” family photo. Philippines still has no fan club so I initially stood and watched. Their leader urged me to join and said “you’re one of us now”. It meant a lot given how I spent two decades essentially on my own here. - Screamed way more than I should for Elanga’s goal then found myself just teary eyed after. So that is what it feels like. - Overall, we looked sharp. If anything it encouraged me that whoever it is up front, our style is still there. The strengths are still in dominating the middle and rapid wingers with top level fullbacks. Once we sort out who plays up top, I think we’d still be potent. Understand the notion that such a tour could be tiring to fly around and forces us to play top teams without building morale first. But after decades of staying up for football in ungodly hours in this side of the world, I just felt it was all worth it to be part of it all, unlocking core memories for a lifetime.
  12. Flying out tomorrow for what will be my first live Toon game Hope Manila weather cooperates as it's been raining all week.
  13. Glad that we earned and deserved the trophy and CL as well. Yes we scraped the latter but it's not like Spurs getting it at 17th and people mocking them
  14. My heart sank when he missed that chance at the end. Didn't deserve it today. He seemed distraught before the news of CL filtered through.

Villa Park '09 scarred me growing up. This one's sweet.
  16. Karma eh Not to mention how the new kit reminds me so much of the one from around that time as well
  17. It's a good point on the road especially coming back from a goal down but that was way too stressful. Need to check my heart rate after that ffs
  18. I think I’m going incognito - Arsenal supporting mate who’s among those who run their supporters club here offered me tickets. Thankfully Singapore is the type of place I could probably just fly in and out from Manila within a day, still working that out.
  19. Looks like the 2006 (Shearer's testimonial), which is not a bad shirt if they had done it with gold. Sky blue screams of Ashley, Owen, relegation scrap, Wonga. Would love this one as our retro. Wore the original while watching the cup final, so I guess it's now my lucky shirt.
  20. That was so satisfying to watch. Just love us when we're on song.
