It's very telling that Scotland can show up England and all their limitations.

I see Gerrard still likes the Hollywood pass, useless twat.

Manchester City vs. Newcastle United - 19/08/13 @ 8pm (Sky Sports 1)
Away Toon replied to Elliottman's topic in Football
I hope Navas plays a lot, he's great to watch, very quick and very direct. Santon better not get caught out of position too often, or there will be huge problems for us down the left. If Jonas is fit he will play, and they will no doubt try and double up on him. -
I found this on the Internet, doesn't mean that it's true but if it is reasonably accurate, we have probably got the Manager we deserve on the wages we pay. As the old adage goes, you pay peanuts you get monkeys. Arsene Wenger Arsenal £6 million Paul Lambert Aston Villa £2 million David Moyes Everton £4 million Martin Jol Fulham £1.5 million Roberto Mancini Manchester City £7.5 million Alex Ferguson Manchester United £4 million Alan Pardew Newcastle £500k Harry Redknapp Queens Park Rangers £3 million Martin O’Neill Sunderland £3 million Andres Villas-Boas Tottenham £4 million Sam Allardyce West Ham £2 million Roy Hodgson Engand £3 million Giovanni Trapattoni Republic Of Ireland £1.5 million

What kind of salary is Pardew on? (300,000-500,000). What does the average Premiership Manager get paid ? (2M). What do the top ones get paid ? (3M-6M). Are there accurate figures out there or is it all guesswork? I presume Keegan was well paid when Ashley brought him back, but since then, I suspect we are pretty much the lowest paying club in the League.

The reason we haven't sold any players recently for a significant fee is that nobody wants them, so terrible have most of them being performing. Do you think anybody wants to buy Tiote or Jonas or Taylor? Cabaye is the only one whose reputation seems to have survived which considering how badly he's been playing is a mystery.
-
I would have thought that the sell on fee if it actually exists would 100% have to be paid by Lyon. They allowed St. Etienne to insert it into the contract when they bought him. As for Agents fees surely that is between Gomis and his agent (s) as he is the one with the contract with them. If he wants to come he could make an effort financially as well. Smoke and mirrors.
-
Rumours he's off to WHU. He plays well with Caroll.

If Pardew gets the sack this season which if we start badly he almost certainly will, he'll be replaced by JFK, so the sooner that happens the better. If for any reason JFK doesn't take the job we would probably get Poyet, which sounds like a great improvement to me.
-
I'm looking forward to Pardew getting the boot and would welcome JFK replacing him, and I'm serious.

Bigi is exhausted after playing in the U20 World Cup.
-
Haidara is injured and has pulled out of the French U21 squad apparently.

Taking aside the fact we are supporters, NUFC is one of the most badly ran, unlikable clubs in the country, despite relatively recently being most people's second favourite team playing entertaining attacking football under KK.

That is the ugliest looking Pizza I've ever seen. Can't believe that it didn't taste anything but rancid to boot.

People really need to stop putting up formations without Jonas in them. It's not going to happen, you are wasting yours and our time.
-
Agree on Enrique he did improve enormously, greatly helped by his understanding with Jonas and the work rate that he provided. As for the rest they have virtually all regressed. We all rightly bitch about how poor our Manager is, but the coaching or lack of it at the club is terrible. It should be possible to improve say Santon's positional play, Taylor's arm flapping antics, Tiote's mindless passing, etc, but there are no sign of any improvements at all since Pardew became Manager.

I would take real Rolls Royce signings like a Berbatov over that age limit. But generally, i'd stay away. I want us to sign players who will get better. The problem is that the players we sign never seem to get better, most clearly get worse, in fact it's difficult to think of any player recently who has improved. Maybe Ba? Our coaching as a team and for players individually is appalling. Still most of them are now so shit that nobody wants to buy them, that's the upside.

Ronaldo free kick a beauty 2-1
-
Lukaku looking out of his depth at this level, I can see why they would like Rooney. Real well on top and by far the better team.
-
Chelsea vs Real, good game so far 1-1 after 20 minutes, Marcelo and Ramires the scorers
-
Chelsea vs Real Madrid tonight in Miami, should be entertaining.

We do appear to have an increasingly difficult decision to make with where to play HBA. As a winger he has to put in a defensive shift especially as both of our fullbacks need all the help they can, yet it is such a waste to see him playing so much football in our own half. Floating in the number 10 role he seems to get lost in the traffic and disappears for long stretches of the game as does Marveaux when he plays in the same position. He needs to be our Messi, free to do what he wants and to play where he wants, but we aren't Barcelona and Pardew is never going to select him to play this role. A conundrum. He's our most talented player and yet for most of the time he is on the pitch we get virtually nothing out of him. Solutions?

To summarise (IMO); Presuming we buy Gomis and Bent which seems unlikely and unnecessary. Gomis and Cisse can't and shouldn't play together. They both prefer playing as solitary strikers through the middle. Bent and Cisse as above. Gomis and Bent as above. Fortunately Remy can play with anyone of them though Bent would be the least suitable of the three. I think we'll see Cisse and Remy in some of the easier (I know) games but possibly just one when Pardew is trying to keep it tight (always if last season is anything to go on). Remy is probably now our number 1 striker option.

Diego Capel, the original flying winger, available for €7 M, from Sporting. Still only 25. I don't know if there is much left of the promise he had when he broke through as a teenager at Sevilla, but on his day one of the most exciting players you could ever see.
