I’d say it it’s just a smokescreen to keep the Barnes fee as low as possible. Wouldn’t be surprised if eventually undisclosed depending on if we do Barnes deal before he is sold.

Gets you out your seat when he gets the ball. Unpredictable. Flashes of individual skill. That kind of thing. What I pay my money to watch in person rather than just watch on TV.

In terms of excitement? He does.

He is. Struggle to name many more as exciting. KK at Napoli and Leao at AC Milan. Vini Jr at Real Madrid stick out but not many more.

Probably should’ve clarified or referenced my much earlier post. When I was comparing him with Miggy it was his one footed-ness and lack of dribbling ability leading to all his goals looking very similar. Doesn’t have the work rate or pace of Miggy but then not many wide players do. He looks more dangerous from distance so there is that to look forward to. I love Miggy but I would never want nor should the team ever need two in the same team. I’ll expand on this. I see too many fans using stats in general but especially to criticise ASM. What stats don’t show is for Miggy and from early viewing of Barnes for them to create or score then already certain passes and moves etc need to be executed to almost precision on a regular basis. One-Twos or player movements allowing them to cut in and shoot etc. So if that is happening then all is good and their numbers will follow. My issue is that ASM is the player who can create and score when the team is not functioning and players having off days due to individual skill and unpredictability. Keep feeding him and he will more than likely create havoc and at very least win corners and FKs. Which I thought was what we were looking for in the summer. When he didn’t play last season I could see the balance and well oiled machine but quite often it was snuffed out when a team came for a point. When he did play I watched him create things out the blue when needed but unfortunately quite a few of them fell to Wood. Where’s the stats for that ??‍♂️ I also think his fitness issues have been overstated. Anyway farewell sweet Prince ??

Exactly. Anything less than £50m would be disappointing. Just glad if he does leave it’s looking like it’s not to someone we’ll ever come up against or see regularly. Outta sight outta mind. Just need the Barnes fee to be £25+add on now and I’ll let it go ?

On a bit of a time delay over her in Chicago so bit disappointed waking up to what has probably been the inevitable due to FFP. Knew the other day Barnes has all but bought a house outside of Morpeth so it had already started to sink in he was likely on his way. If it been. KK at Napoli for ASM then I’d be on board no hesitation. HB to me just seems like a left side Miggy. He’s not a door opener or someone who can dribble past players. Guessing we are banking on him pinging in a few from long range perhaps. Anyway trust the process and if it is actually what EH wants then trust in Howe. Just have a funny feeling he’d liked to of had both.

Surely therefore it’s the opposite and forces you to build sensibly and will lead to deflated prices.

Still seems very one footed. Not quite as obvious but like a mirror image of Miggy.

That and the revelation he’s got a Steven Gerrard tattoo does explain why we never pressed ahead with this one. Will be interesting to see how he turns out in the division as many expressed doubts over him.
