Yep. For those that didn’t get the reference the club pioneered beam backs for 3pm KO’s due to demand for away games with the help of NTL who became our sponsors for a bit. Initially held at the club but increased in size to the local Odeon cinema also. The lockout derby was beamed back to a sold out Arena even and atmosphere was legendary according to family (I actually was inside Roker Park for the game)

Also for those too young to remember the EPL was basically built upon NUFC and The Entertainers. NE1 and surrounding areas in the North East were by far an away the biggest subscriber base for Sky Sports. Those who created it have always acknowledged this and the gear change when we entered into the division a year after it’s formation, even if today they may pretend it was the Big Six.

Interesting to hear a reporter on radio today claiming there is slight concern from agents (he’s been talking to) who they are actually meant to be dealing with at NUFC as chain of command unclear. If true hoping this will be in place ready for January 1st.

To add to this when you hear on commentary if you give a penalty for that you’d be giving a penalty at every corner (for grabbing etc). So? Give a penalty every corner. Then let’s see how the defenders carry on after the 4th 5th 6th penalty that game. Where’s the rule to say you can’t have 20 penalties a game? There isn’t one.

I agree refs have so much power and don’t use it. It’s weird that there are basic rules to football but ref seems to ignore them to keep 11 v 11 on the pitch. Always found it weird why refs seem to feel like they’ve got to keep as many players on the pitch as they can. If we actually had some games 8 v 8 etc it might make the players and managers rethink their gamesmanship.

Was at a wedding on Saturday catching up with a friend I’d not seen in years who told me he had dealings with Hoffman whilst they both worked at Northern Rock. Went on to tell me a few stories where Hoffman openly admitted that he hated the North East of England and the people from the North East with a passion. It was all very weird but as we know now makes even more sense with what was going on.

The thinking behind it is this guy has been a long time NUFC fan and also member of their show for the last 2 years or more. So it was good PR for the club and I also believe for the guy himself as the publicity helped him get a ticket for the Brighton game. They are eating in a friend of his house I believe who has offered to cook for them all as they were reunited and between the two of them have provided Wraith etc some official attire which they’ve worn out of respect. Looks like the friend/host has videoed it as probably feeling quite proud about it all. What people forget is Wraith’s main income is largely based on self publicity with a huge attachment of that aligned with NUFC. So when we do it it’s irrelevant apart from you might get a few more friend requests or followers depending on who’ve you’ve tagged so you would question why. Whereas he is expanding his audience and therefore monetary reach. Speaking of who’ve you’ve tagged did you not notice the post in the Games section for you? ?
