    Peter Beardsley

They were totally different players in the way that they played and I can see an argument for both being the better players. Gazza was and still is the best player that I've seen at his age when he played for us. Both players were world class and would probably have been higher rater over here by most people if they were foreign. Respectively disagree. Gazza's highlight real is the same handful of moments repeated. Even his movie was the same action over and over again. With Beardsley you literally could pick every game he played and there would be a great goal or great assist or just a touch of class mid game. Gazza's flame burnt bright no doubt but short.

  5. Aye, the pure raging Arsenal fans running down the stairs is hilarious. That Jenas moment was so amazing. We have to settle for the little pleasures. What was the score? Pretty sure we won like, but don't remember. Won 3-1. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/4842464.stm Bowyer's best performance for NUFC that game. Bizarrely I was in the away end that day
  6. I'm sure it was going to a public enquiry after objections by a group of people who liked to take there dogs for a s**** on the moor. The mouth piece was a woman called Dolly Potter and it was rumoured she was going all over the North East to get signatures on her petition, including to sunderland. Kinda' remember the Friends of Leazes Park group voicing their intention that they would to go to war again, with the club, over the 2005 proposed expansion of the Gallowgate too. This is all correct. Freeman were behind the club as to an extent was the Council but the club weren't prepared for the longer fight with the residents. ...whilst I am not. Had it been built, apart from the ability to get huge crowds for big games, Ashley may not have bought us because undoubtedly the land near the Gallowgate would have been a big plus for him. The whole area was going to be reshaped to compensate losing some of the park and would've actually been an improvement to what it is now for the residents. Opportunity missed all round.
  7. You are in cloud cook cuckoo land if you think that is even remotely possible. The two major blockers are: 1) cost of a brand new stadium is prohibitive unless you build a relatively small identikit flat pack stadium. 2) you would never get planning consent to build a new stadium on Leazes Park or the Town Moor. When we were originally going to move stadium I think it would've eventually got the green light. The Freeman didn't have any objections at the time. I remember seeing some of the plans and was always disappointed the club didn't play the long game with it all.
  8. Our own lists of buys since Ashley took over doesn't look too bright either if you look at it ; for every Cabaye we have a Riviere and for every Ben Arfa there is a Thauvin.....and so it goes on. Joe Harvey was viewed as a manager who had an eye for a player and he bought some good uns...he also bought some real stumours. KK made some great buys but he also made some bad uns... As it is, would any of you NOT have Howe as manager if we were looking for one(as opposed to Pardew etc)..? Not that the guy would even look at the job under Ashley. KKs record was excellent. Either bought well and improved the team. Bought or inherited a dud but sold at a profit and when he did move good players on he usually made a profit. Even the duds were bought for buttons relatively.
  9. In what way? Prevent Fulham from getting a play off position? Yep.
  10. Blackburn done us a favour I see.
  11. Ref having a great game so far.
  12. These previews are getting worse by the season.
  13. I know. Imagine someone asking Shearer to participate in that I think that was wthat Keith Gillespie did. Nah he was flicking bottle tops at his head
  14. I know. Imagine someone asking Shearer to participate in that
  15. Out of interest who would you rate higher between him and Ozil?
  16. Wasn't blantant or clear cut. Even after several replays. He cleans out the player before getting the ball. Was obvious on first viewing. He didn't clean anyone out and it wasn't. Pundits on my side for a once
  17. Wasn't blantant or clear cut. Even after several replays. We'll have to disagree on that one. I thought it was stone wall. The defender kicked his leg right across the Celtic player's body with enough force to bring him down and didn't get near the ball. As text book a penalty you'll see. Hill reached across and got toe on ball as it diverts. Outstretched leg makes contact with the forward but contact is part of the game and allowed unless it's seen as a foul which this was highly debatable. Hence not stonewall on replays. Hence ref not giving it as he only has a split second and one view and is behind the two players. Stonewall is no doubt and there was plenty.
