  1. I hope these carpets are good upfront.
  2. I don't think theres much comparison tbh, Carroll was unplayable most games, he was absolutely everywhere and was unbeatable in the air, his goal record was just a bonus tbh, but one which put him amongst the best strikers in the league that season. Demba Ba is a pretty physical player, but he doesn't use his strengh in the way Carroll does.
  3. Not panicing yet, but imo our aim should be to start this season with a squad better than the one we started with last, not what we ended it with.
  4. Well we aren't trying hard enough, simple as that. If we cannot land Erdinc and such then go lower, even if what we bring in is someone on par with Best for a couple of million it will be better than going into the season with nobody. Simply put, Shola Ameobi or Peter Lovenkrands SHOULD NOT be starting games next season, and theres absolutely no reason that they should be. and I'm fairly certain that is exactly what the club is trying to do. Keep your annoyance on hold until it's valid. What annoyance? I'm responding to your views that we'd be alright going into the season withought signing another striker. I don't think we will.
  5. Well, you and I are a very long way apart in terms of satisfaction if that's the eventual outcome. So if we sign Ba and another striker, you still won't be satisfied? How many strikers were you expecting us to buy this summer? No, Dresden said if we didn't sign another striker he would be ok with that. That means he's ok with swapping Carroll for Ba. That's not good enough for me like.

And we may play 4-5-1, but I doubt we will/could play it all season.
  7. Based on ? Signing Ba, of course. But we had Carroll last year... Not for the second half of last season, which is what we are building on  The second half of our season suggested we needed ATLEAST 2 new strikers in. Ameobi and Lovenkrands we're starting week in week out, it was horrible.
  8. We've switched Carroll for Ba, if anything we're weaker. Infact we've hardly improved any of or squad since the start of last season. Carroll for Ba (bad), Nolan for Cabaye (good), Marveaux in. Gosling (meh) and Ben Arfa coming back obviosly are a bonus, but we're still in a position where a couple of injuries could seriously damage us.
  9. Finishing 9th instead of 15th would be a few million more though. But I agree, the only time I could understand a team not going for it would be something like Everton, who havn't exactly got the biggest of squads but will feel they have a chance of making the Champions League (the havn't like in reality but thats there aim).
  10. We'll pardew must have to offer him a 5 year contract and declare he has "frightening" potential. He's never looked ready, hence why a loan to a club where he'll play week in week out could sort him out. It cannot hurt us.
  11. Are they expecting Wickham to start week in week out like? 8 goals, he'll be lucky to get 4.
  12. He wasn't given a 5 year contract for nowt like. He tossed himself about well, had decent feet, and ultimately changed a few games around for us last year coming on as a substitute because of it. His goal scoring record is woeful, but a loan stint at Blackpool may change that.
  13. Didn't the referee say 2 seperate things about Parkers chalked off goal? Seem to remember something like that. But yeah, that night pissed me right off. Shota Arveladze is a cunt.
  14. We need a proper centre half imo, not just an old pro as back up, or Kadar as cover. Taylor and Williamson are adequate, but a genuine quality centre back alongside Colo could realy push us on.
  15. In which case I hope it is a loan. In a years time we may get back a more mature player, if so we may think about keeping him, if not then we can easily move him on then. It's not like his price is going to go down.
  16. Don't see why he wasn't just loaned out, he quite clearly has tallent and had just signed a 5 year contract. Loaning him out for a year may have seen him develop, and potentialy raise his price in the process.
  17. Barton, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Marveaux?, Jonas (to an extent). We're alright in the creative department imo, although i'd prefer we had a proper attacking midfield playmaker
  18. Thats canny special that like
  19. Can just imagine the guy ranting to some poor girl in a call centre somewhere about how "they've set the transfer market alight" and how disgraceful it is that Sky aren't showing every minute of Wes Brown's Sunderland career. "Have you seen our signings!? The Mags are green with envy when we got Wickham, we STOLE him from them!" "Sir, I don't know what..." "And then there's Wes Brown. The HORROR on the Mags' faces when we got him! They can't hold a candle to our transfer dealings, can you not see how we've set the transfer market ALIGHT? CAN YOU NOT SEE THE TRANSFER MARKET CURRENTLY ABLAZE DUE TO OUR SWOOP FOR O'SHEA, OUR CAPTURE OF CRAIG GARDNER??!?!?!?!?!?!!!" "Do you want fries with that?" <pans out to reveal the Mackem being the only one in a desolate Burger King in Sunderland>

  21. The ones saying there "over the moon" man Fair enough 3pm kick offs are the best time to have a football match, but theres no way you can be happy that your club is so fucking boring that you're only been shown once in about 3 month.
  22. "set the transfer window alight" What a delussional bunch of crettins Nice to see them genuinly 'green with envy' though
  23. How? Up there with the 'moves' for Kieran Richardson and N'Zogbia. Ashley/Llambias will have fed a line to the media to try and curry favour with fans. One of the most consistently suggested and consistently ridiculous "theories." It's just tedious. tbf it's not an anti-ashley line for those that remember the rooney bid, to some, from exactly the same school of thought. I wasn't around these boards back then so I don't know what the situation was. Nevertheless I maintain that the idea that the Arshavin/Modric/Richardson()/N'Zogbia/Gameiro/Gervinho bids were "fake bids" to appease the public is mind-numbingly ridiculous. I'm not some sort of Anti-Ashley doom monger, but the Richardson, Michael Johnson and N'Zogbia bids we're all highly suspicious, and in my opinion clear PR moves. Especialy when you watched Sky Sports News all day. So glad the former 2 did not come off for the reported £8m each.
  24. £12m is too steep like. But aye, the 'white Ameobi'...
  25. Aye. That's my take. A fat (I reckon) slag with gigantic breasts and a ugly face, basically. Not teeth-girl ugly, but deffo ugly. Alreet then. Nee wonder there's so many self-concious people in the world. Are you a sculpture of the perfect male specimen like? Not really. Doesn't mean that I would jump at any girl with tits. What if she was packing an 8 inch cock?
