I for one am absolutely devastated like, they're constructing a side that can push for Europe where as we are content with shite like Cabaye and some crock from some shitty African country nobody knows about. It's not a good example. Shane Long sounds like a bog standard signing but the Bellamy comparisons would be more accurate. No idea about his finishing capabilities but he's fast and skilful. I would prefer Erdinc but Long wouldn't devastate me either. Bellamy would be just about the worst example I could have used for the point I was trying to make, like. I think he'll be a mid table player, comfortable in the league but never setting the place alight.

It is quite believable like, although it would be pretty easy to make that shit up by putting 2+2 together from his twitter account and his reputation.

I cannot see Long turning out to be anything but a bog standard to good Premiership striker, he would improve us but it's not realy the kind of guy you want in after we've previosly been on the chase for Gamiero. It would be a Craig Gardner type signing (the best example I can think of).

This is why, apparently Gardner is a young English midfielder who scored 10 goals in a relegated side. He is relatively young and I get the impression from hearing him speak that he has a great desire to succeed. You had a midfielder capable of scoring from midfield but let him go. I assume because of his age. You should have looked at Gardner for £6m as his replacement. Yes you have signed a frenchman but it's a gamble and you know it is. Connor Whickham for £8m ? A no brainer. With abit of luck he could turn out to be the buy of the decade. Lives for football and will only get better. Maybe England's number 9 for years to come. You know it anyway and are green as the OP says. Larsson a great deliver of the ball who gets it into the box quickly, a Swedish International and he cost nowt. Arsenal were in for him, give your dirty green head a shake. Westwood, widely accepted as the best keeper outside the Premier. Eire's number one for years to come and he cost us nowt. All in all there first 11 is worse off this season than it was the start of last. They probably know this aswell.

I would love Sturridge like, even if it was just on loan, but it probably isn't going to happen as we won't stump up the cash (if he is in fact available). And although Bendtner is miles off the top of my list, he is a step up on what we have (excluding Ba). Imo we just have to accept that the striker we (fans) want are probably out of reach, either due to us just not been attractive enough or Mike's refusal to spend any real cash on players (but he has improved our training ground mind...)
