  1. ha ha, i'd much rather he got caught shagging a waitress or doing coke than repeatdely beating people up. ha ha, i'd much rather he got caught shagging a waitress or doing coke than repeatdely beating people up. But we don't realy know the full story behind the Dabo and Liverpool night out incidents, it's sort of a 1 way thing if you cheat on your missis with an £800 prostetute or are sniffing lines off a toilet seat, there's no real grey area of "we'll he had his reasons". I'm not condoning it but it is likely he was provoked and never just randomly assaulted Dabo or that kid, and I'm pretty sure about 90% of the people who boo him have been in a few fights before in there time, many of them do it outside of the ground right after the game.
  2. Spot on Tmonkey, Joey is no worse than many in the Premiership, I mean look at Michael Brown or Lee Cattermole! And the fans seem to be very hypocritical, the Wolves fans for example praising there team for there challenges on Barton is not only hypocracy at it's finest, but also completely pathetic. But yeah, because Joey has been in the spotlight off the field (no worse than what many of the people booing him from the stands have getting up too, cigar incident aside but that was 10 years ago!) he's somehow viewed as a 'dirty' player on the field, this wouldn't realy matter if it was just hypocrtical fans booing him and wishing him to have his leg broken, but when the referees seem to be in the same mindset we have a problem. And lastly, the thing is with Joey is he actualy seems a realy decent lad, he's not notoriously flash or cocky, or constantly in the papers for some sex scandal or been busted for drug useage, has he been caught selling people private tours of St James' Park? No, he seems to have a decent sense of humour, doesn't appear to have some sort of god complex, is teetotal and even runs his own low key charity.
  3. I don't buy the myth that Sven was shite at England like, we got to th quater finals in the 3 tournaments he was here, look whats happened after he was sacked...
  4. To stop City from buying everyone I think lol But realy it hasn't affected anyone I don't think other than Man City
  5. sorry I worded it wrong like, you don't have to name 25 players, you can name (if you want) 17 not home grown of any age, 8 home grown over 21 (and unlimited under 21 are available anyway) They don't have to mame 8 home grown players just as they don't have to name 17 non home grown ones.
  6. it's just for the sake of discusion...
  7. Something isn't right with that. They seem to have changed the wording from needing to have 8 homegrown players in your squad to having a maximum of 17 players who are not classed as homegrown. Seems like bollocks to me because from that wording, it sounds like you could get away without having a single homegrown player in the squad. It's 17 not home grown of any age, 8 home grown over 21, and unlimited under 21. Personaly I agree with the first 2 but I think there should be a cap to the latter.
  8. yeah, he played like 6 games according to wikipedia
  9. You should be aiming to finish as high as possible and to collect as many points as possible, technicaly everyones in the league should be aiming for 1st, and then when thats mathematicaly impossible 2nd, then 3rd........ etc
  10. whats the craic with the videos like? Why aren't they allowed
  11. Smith gets far too much stick in my opinion, you don't have to be able to perfect Xavi like passes to be usefull to a team, he does most of the dogwork in midfield and stops the opponents momentum quite well, as he showed against Villa (and to a degree against Man U). He's more of a 'certain game' man though, I don't realy see the need of him against the likes of Blackpool, who aren't realy going to challenge us physicaly (ala Wolves) and they havn't realy got a dangerman in midfield who we need to seriously worry about them getting the ball too, atleast not to the point that Barton cannot handle. I think in the other games we could get away with Barton and Nolan in the middle with Ben Arfa behind Carroll.
  12. Yeah, another funny thing is everytime a club comes back from 2-0 down the suposed 'experts' on MOTD tell us all how 2-0 is the most dangerous scorline to have due to complacancy... I agree with the late great Sir Brian Clough that we realy need more actual highlights and less 'punditry' and analasys.
  13. We would never create enough chances for Bent to thrive and Bent cannot create enough for either him or others. Carroll has more potential to be an all round center forward than any other English striker apart from Rooney. To even discuss swapping him for Bent is madness. Sunderland aren't exactly full of creative talent and he still ended up with 24 goals in the league last season.
  14. Harper probably has the worst save to shot ratio though to even that up. I'm sure I read a tweet that we've allowed the least number of shots on target (6) in the PL. So 4 goals from 6 shots against pretty much backs that up. Think it was only 5 shots on target mate so it's even worse. He should have saved Giggs' volley like but I don't know about the rest.
  15. More like Bent is an exelent goal poacher. It's hard to say "i'd swap 1 for the other" because Carroll is a massive piece in our puzzle and is looking like the future of the club, but i'd say in all round quality Bent is on another level.
  16. Never once writen off Fulham or Stoke, I said the bottom half of the league is poor (us included), which it is. Woles should have had a penalty, they should also have been down to about 9 men, and we didn't beat them but we got a draw away which was a very good result. They'll be lucky to get the same at SJP to be honest.
  17. That's on the same awfulness scale as: Blackburn, Stoke, Fulham, Sunderland, Bolton, Wolves, Wigan, West Ham, Newcastle, West Brom, Blackpool. Yes mate, absolutely full of quality that lot like... It seems an awfully stereotypical "soopa Jawdiees" comment to make, bearing in mind that 9 of the teams you listed survived relegation from the premiership last season; Fulham were the UEFA Cup/Europa League finalists; Blackburn remained undefeated at home against the so-called Big Four last season; Stoke made the FA Cup quarter-finals, comfortably knocking out Arsenal; Bolton, Wolves and Birmingham have all started the season undefeated and enjoyed good finishes to last season; Wigan, West Ham, Blackpool and West Brom are admittedly looking like they're going to make up the bulk of this season's relegation fight. On paper we might have a stronger first team (maybe even a stronger squad) but this team hasn't earnt the right to start expecting mid-table/top-half finishes, yet. "9 teams survived relegation"? You not mean 7, the other 3 I listed wern't even in the league. And where did I even mention Birmingham! Anyway, just because I disagree with your morbid and unnecisarily pessamistic opinions doesn't mean i'm some "soopa jawdeee" we're ganna win the league leek lads... I said I think we come into the "higher tier of that group", meaning 10-15 (the lower tier been 16-20, believe it or not!), we finished above Blackpool and West Brom with a canter last season and this season West Ham & Wigan look absolutely awful and we've just outplayed Wolves at there gaff (despite them trying to kick us off the park). Theres 5 teams I believe we look stronger than this season, not saying WE WILL finish above them, or even that WE WILL stay up, but I certainly think we've got a realy good chance of a decent 15+ finish. Calling the bottom 10 "shit" may have been a tad harsh but it's hardly far off the mark when you compare them with the rest of the league (the bottom 11 infact we're 11 points behind Everton in 8th last season). The league is split into 2, and I don't realy see how it's so far fetched to suggest we have a good chance of finishing in a respectable place within the latter half.
  18. I would start Benny on the bench and bring him on about the 60th minute, the massive ovation he'll get when he comes on will more than likely give him a huge boost. Also he hasn't been training properly for a few weeks and will no doubt not be completely match fit, so if he starts he'll more than likely be taken off anyway.
  19. whops, didn't realise how long ago that comment was whops, didn't realise how long ago that comment was
  20. They only have 1 bloke on the scoresheet this season in all competitions, thats 4 games and no-one has scored other than Bent. There a 1 man team and if he gets injured they'll be in serious trouble.
  21. I suppose Hughton can say he's been locked in one of the storage cupboards at SJP for the past few days and cite "technical problems" as to the reason why he couldn't fax through in time.
