  1. Why preface a mundane point with "I won’t go over this again because everyone get all upset, but it’s a Howe strategy no doubt about it." And now "People getting worked up thinking there might be a tiny bit of criticism again " RAWK! It's like you're trying to create some kind of pariah persona.
  2. We're not going to sign a load of British players from middling clubs though and there's no real indication that's the case. Burn was a last day signing after missing out on Botman, Targett was after a successful loan spell. Pope is a bargain at £10m and has some of the most possitive sweeping stats of any keeper out there, which supports Howe's probable preference to play a high line. Ashworth has been here two minutes, you would imagine he'll want to set up a proper international scouting network in the coming years.
  3. What is Howe's strategy then, make me upset please Is it buying players for great value with Premiership experience when we desperately need them?
  4. He's probably never going to be a goalscoring CF again but I cannot see how anyone thought he was horrific like. His role was clearly to come very deep and he did it well. Like last year Howe will know how to use him for the benefit of the team when he needs too. We obviously could do with another forward etc...
  5. Aye, noticed it last night and me brain had a little "is that legal?" moment
  6. I think Howe will be pretty flexible as long as he has players working hard off the ball to press the opposition. We'll have a pretty set defence, Wilson, and at least 2 hard working central midfielders but I think the other 3 can change depending on the circumstances. We've played with inverted wingers or natural wingers, 'shuttlers' or a two man pivot with a 10.
  7. Maddison often runs the show and it's noticeable when he does like, he's stood out pretty much whenever I've seen them (being in the middle will help). I know you literally breath footy so I'll take your word that I'm wrong about Barnes though
  8. Barnes would improve us obviously but he's another one that doesn't do much in terms of pushing us onto the next level. I'd prefer Paqueta because I'm easily swayed by Brazilians but Maddison is in the same mould of footballer that is so far beyond anything we've had for years (along with Bruno, Trippier, and hopefully Botman).
  9. Tbh I think a year in the Championship would be best for him. Maddison himself came through after a great season at Nowrich when he was a similar age and was ready for the Premiership the year after.
  10. I imagine the budget is less of an issue with someone like Maddison as he'll be viewed as a long term signing. Splashing 25m+ on the likes of Sarr would still leave us needing to strengthen the RW in the coming years so you're not really getting the full value out of your expenditure.
  11. Maddison is a Liverpool/Man City signing like, would be amazing if it happens. Hopefully Joelinton could bully him into sorting his craic out too.
  12. he asked if his family were at the game as if they were from Indonesia. Ofcourse they were at the game, mate.
  13. Think Howe is just giving some midfielders minutes in a few positions as they'll have to be flexible next season.
  14. Murphy was applauded off the pitch despite being terrible wasn't he? (Which is exactly the right thing to do)
  15. Aye this. Even just looking at it from a financial POV it seems counter productive to write someone like Miggy off (which I had done myself tbh ) in favour of a decent £25 Prem winger when he could feasibly put £10-15m on his price next season. It's a swing of £35-40m we could be using next summer (minus whatever pennies he could bring this summer).
  16. Not getting the Fraser criticism anyway tbh. Thought he was absolutely fine, Wood too dropping back. Almiron and Anderson were given licence to get forward and were our main attacking threat.
  17. That's probably because he never gave the ball away cheeply about 40 times in a row like.
  18. Murphy aside I think everyone performed well enough to show they have a place like.
  19. It's why I'm not too arsed if we only bring in a couple of loans and I doubt Howe is either. This is one of the worst starting XIs I've ever seen
  20. Howey sounds like he's constantly brimging himself to the vinegars before stopping to comment on the game.
  21. Murphy just flaps his arse whenever he has space, which is unfortunate given his main attribute is running really fast into space. He's never shown any indication he'll get over it.
