Not sure how we can claim where Joelinton can or cannot play like given he was a forward a few months ago
-
£15m for a League 1 centre forward Surely that's just 1 knacker and not an actual shared belief among their fanbase?

Newcastle United vs Watford: 15/01/22 @ 3pm (No UK TV)

I'd play Dummett/Lewis if either a fit but feel Howe will go with Richie to ping balls at Wood. -
Tripple post wanker like but Joelinton might be effective as our deepest midfielder I just don't think we should risk our season on it. It's something we could possibly look into though in the future. Along with his obvious defensive attributes he has decent ability on the ball to get out of tight areas in the middle of the pitch and can pick out a pass. He only really turns to shite when he gets 25 yards from goal. He might be alergic to steel.
-
Also Joelinton probably could play in a midfoeld 2 like. He's looked best as a physically imposing ball winning midfielder so it's not like he needs protecting. The problem with him in a midfield 2, especially combined with our wingers, is that it still leaves us without any real goals or creativity, even more so if the other midfielder we bring in is a CDM (which they should be imo).
-
Aye that's the point with 4 at the back we're clunky infront of it unless we bring in atleast another 2 midfielders.
-
Problem with just having Lewis too is that if we go 3 at the back we sort of have to play Richie as there's no way Lewis is going to be an effective wingback. I know Richie isn't either but that's the point
-
This is sort of my thinking anyway. Not that I want this, just think it's about the minimum we can get away with.
-
I'd like a CAM but think after buying Wood for £25m Howe will probably be planning to play both him and Wilson up top. Although I think Wilson could play on the side of a front 3 too if needed, so if we go 4-3-3 there's probably room.
-
So what do people believe the fewest number of players we could bring in this window to 'guarentee' we stay up? A proper LWB and a CDM gives us the flexibility to go 3 at the back and not be reliant on Fraser and Murphy, now we've got Wood we can play ASM up top with him and Wilson, or behind them. Obviously an extra CB would be grand as well but I don't think it's as necessary as the other 2 positions. With 4 at the back we look very clunky no matter which way we line up ahead of them without atleast 2 new midfielders, 3 if we're only playing 1 up top?

Gosens would be one to actually go out on like

No chance Murphy was miles better against Man Utd. I wouldn't count Cambridge either as they were all shite, including Murphy. -

He's been better than both recently though -
Not using this to defend Shelvey, Willock, or Longstaff like, I'm sure their poor statistics are fairly reflective Just pointing it out as there's deffinitely oddities that pop up.
-
Although I agree that our midfield is fucking embarrassing I don't think the stats on WhoScored are a great indicator. Rodri only has 0.6 interceptions per game for example (2.4 tackes though). I noticed after looking for Joelinton's stats against Man Utd, on there they don't look too impressive yet he won absolutely everything. Think they recorded him as winning like 1 duel in the air for example which seems preposterous. I'm not sure what they use to register their statistics.
-
As soon as players start picking up regular injuries they're finished like. It's going to be hard playing at the highest level when you cannot train properly.
-
Was sacked when we were 12th in the league and 4 points off 6th for that snake Pardew.
-
Wonder if we can go in with the indication that we need the deal done before the Watford game and therefore this is the most they'll get out of us.

Not sure tbh. New signings often inject life into poor sides though and we've sort of forced Burnley into doing that. Not saying it's a given they improve just saying if I was a Burnley fan I'd be be more exited with this than just continuing as is. -

I think it is given the circumstances. Even going forwards he offers us a plan B from the bench, I just think given the inflated fee it could work out well for both sides. It's not a given Burnley will improve but I do think we've given them a bit of a lifeline as, like us, they need to do something. -

No but Wilson is still regarded highly among the majority of our fans. A lot of Burnley fans seem to think Wood has turned to shite. I have no doubt Wilson will get back to form, personally. -

They could both do well. -

Burnley don't even need a better striker, just someone who can hit a purple patch which is quite common when players switch clubs. We're obviously hoping for the same from Wood. If I was a Burnley fan I would deffinitely be happy with this deal like. -

He finished top scorer in the season where Gayle was insane like, although Gayle probably would have beat him if he never got injured.
