Let's flip this around and imagine some Brit booting off about Mexicans wearing old Victorian attire and fake drinking tea after Richard Branson takes over Cruz Azul. They would get absolutely tortured. I hope any Mexican crying over people wearing sombreros would receive the same over there.
-
Well they need to get a grip Imagine being arsed about something so absolutely trivial man. The vast majority of emotionally mature adults, regardless of their heritage, will be able cope with another culture dressing up as them in good faith. We don't have to constantly play the white saviour, man. Most foreigners couldn't give a shit about this kind of thing.
-
Yous are aware that arabs aren't actually these cartoonishly emotional radgies as depicted by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, aye? Like I'm sure they can handle a bit of dress up. They probably even enjoy telling jokes and watching comedy films n that yoo, it's mad like.

First I've seen of his in a while, but yeah, far too much text

Can we not just call a mearing voting for the liquidation of Man Utd or something? Like if we get 19 votes can we just fold the club? Honestly though, football is fucked, it's just not the sport it was 2 decades ago. It's all about excessive money and every team essentially has to be a gelactico to compete. The rest of the league need to hope the same thing happens to them, not try and hinder this, as it's the only way they'll ever win anything outside of dumb luck. 14 teams playing borderline aids football while the top 6 run away with everything got boring a long time ago.
-
This is what I mean though, the outrage from the media and other clubs is completely manufactured and by 'calling our own fans out' we're just joining in on it.
-
I mean you could make an educated guess that it's a joke. I would be suprised if the lad photographed on the front pages was being serious. Like I'm not saying we should all be out wearing tea towels, but at the same time we should be able to recognise that those who are aren't necessarily these cartoonishly stupid mouthbreathers that they're being painted as.
-
Why do they need calling out though? And what exactly do they need educating on? Honestly it seems parts of our fanbase have gotten caught up in the manufactured hysteria. And again, where do we draw the line? Should we hand out leaflets to anyone entering SJP explaining what their ticket money may be helping to fund? Or is it all cush as long as you're not having a laugh while doing it? Like this isn't me being contradictory for the sake of it, it just looks like we're essentially bullying people over completely arbitrary moral lines that we just made up in the past few days.
-
So we can all fund the likes of the PIC through various means but we cannot take the piss out of it? Like I don't really understand where people are drawing this moral line. If it's so horrific that even so much as wearing a towel on your head or jokingly waving a Saudi flag is complete taboo then honestly the rest of the country are correct and we shouldn't even be supporting the takeover.
-
People need to seperate themselves from other sections of the fanbase so the can be like "look, they are the thick ones, but the rest of us are great!" The abuse the lad wearing the saudi garb has gotten is absolutely ridiculous like and it's embarrassing that our own fans are joining in on it.
-
It's a mixture of jealousy and bandwagon jumping. Honestly it feels great, for over a decade we've had to sit and take the constant shit from all corners about how we're delusional. a little club etc and there was little to come back with because they aren't interested in the nuanced conversation, just telling you you're a delusional geordie then laughing as we nearly get relegated. Now we don't even need to say anything, just allow time to take the seat and enjoy the toon gloriously dicking these peasants into the ground.
-
There would have been less restrictions for City too back then aye? My memory is foggy of how they grew. But aye I think growing organically is our best bet given we're limited somewhat in the transfer market. We cannot waste money with huge signings when the rest of the squad is largely shite, we'll just suffer for it in future windows.
-
We shouldn't be wanting the likes of Mbappe anyway I've stayed away from most of the pundit coverage but I can imagine the gist of it. At the end of the day it would take a monumental fuck up on the part of the owners for us to not be at least challenging with the top 4 within a few years. We obviously need a good DOF and a top manager then spend the next few windows building the backbone of a competitive side alongside the rewards of a hopefully improved academy. Spunking our FFP allocated budget on 1 player would be insane. The main focus of spending within the next few years should be with improvements in infastructure and staff as well as building up the NUFC brand overseas.
-
It seems the point of the protest is to 'embarrass' the owners by putting pictures of that murdered journalist around the ground. It's all a bit pointless but as long as they're not trying to attack the fans then let them crack on. If they're serious about this then their efforts would probably be better served prolonged protesting of Downing Street as I'm not sure how a bunch of blokes taking their bairns to see us get spanked off Tottenham are going to in any way improve the rights of people in Saudi Arabia.

There's a difference between understanding and recognising something and being uncomfortable or conflicted with it though. If I was uncomfortable with eating meat then I wouldn't eat meat. I understand the damage it causes but ultimately I love meat. There's no conflict or discomfort there, as there isn't with the vast majority of meat eaters. Those who are genuinely uncomfortable with it will ultimately become vegetarian. The Nike example is a good one, because not wearing Nike is an easy thing to do. Like would you seriously take anyone seriously who was sported head to toe in Nike gear whilst claiming they're uncomfortable or conflicted with the slave labour it came from? I suppose posturing is probably a bit much, but over the past couple of days I've seen so many hot takes from people trying to take some kind of moral high ground, when in reality they will take no actions themselves.
-
As much as I love Rafa he would never be the long term solution.
-
I mean if people actually take action (I assume a small amount will) and walk away from the club (or campaign against the owners or something) then fair play to them, they aren't posturing. The vast majority of it is though, I just cannot wrap my brain around how anyone could be 'conflicted' about something as legitimately serious as human rights, and human rights abusers purchasing their club, and still come to the conclusion that it's okay to support said club. Like personally I'm perfectly fine in admitting that I couldn't give a shit who owns us as long as I can enjoy watching football again. Adolf Hitler could have rose from the grave to buy out Ashley and I'd have shook the blokes hand.
-
Nobody is truly conflicted man The violation of human rights is so insane that anybody who was truly conflicted would struggle with following the club. I'm not going to go as far as claiming faux outrage, as highlighting this stuff is important (even if the ones shouting about it tend to be annoying as fuck), but the vast majority of it is probably posturing (Newcastle fans) or jelousy (other fans). The latter is pretty simple, it generally isn't a great feeling to see your rivals doing well, so trying to find easy comfort helps. There isn't a single group of fans in the prem that wouldn't be wanking themselves in the streets if this had happened to them. Like are we truly meant to believe that hammers fans would be out in droves with banners in hand telling the PLC to fuck off back to saudi if West Ham randomly became the ritchest club on the planet overnight No, they would be exactly the same as us, East London would be absolutely stinking of jizz. The amount of damage we collectively cause is fucking astronomical, I'm not drawing the line at my club turing into PSG like

It's time to fall back in love with the beautiful game.

This offsides business is absolutely wank. No advantage gained whatsoever. If it’s offside, it’s offside, should there be an advantage? Would be like goal line technology just deciding it’s a goal if 90% of the ball crosses the line. The whole of the ball over the whole of the line. Offside should be the same. That’s not the law though. You're comparing chalk and cheese anyway. Not really? Offside law was used correctly. Can’t just ignore it if it’s ‘marginal’ the same way you couldn’t just give a goal if the vast majority of the ball was in. Sometimes these incidents can be both onside and offside when the limbs of several players are moving at once, depending on which frame is chosen. It really is total nonsense. I know you've stuck your flag passionately in the VAR camp but I firmly believe at this point anyone who says that the system as it stands is a benefit and is improving football as a spectacle is being deliberately dishonest out of stubbornness. Aye, both decitions today nobody would complain about if they weren’t changed through VAR. The also both (as you say) showed that at that level it’s probably not 100%. The penalty especially the ref was visibly baffled as to what to give If the pen doesn’t get awarded then England complain, had the offside not been given then USA would rightfully been aggrieved. The technology is there to give the correct decisions and they got it right both times. Nobody could realistically complain about either of those decisions man, howay. The referee was literally scratching her head with the penalty even after watching it dozens of times And Wullie’s point is right. It’s impossible to get it correct to the millimeter with current tech, especially in an acceptable timeframe. Finding the exact moment the ball leaves the foot and the exact moment the offensive player passes the defender would require far better cameras than the ones they’re using, as well as high FPS monitors and more angles. VAR will still be more accurate than not but both decitions today showed how tight it can get. Regardless of any of this the main point is that this in no way made the game any more entertaining. The exact opposite tbh.

Absolutely blitzed the passing

If you’re watching 40 different replays to verify minimal contact then things fucked like
-
Think offsides are a bit different as you can actually verify them. There’s no debate to be had over them like there is some other things where the ‘clear and obvious’ rule is meant to apply. I still don’t see how getting everything to the milimeter improves the game from a spectators point of view like.
-
football isn't american soccer, we shouldn't be using VAR to analyse whether a keepers heel us 1 inch off the line or not Keepers should have no advantage in penalties at all. It’s supposed to penalise the defending team. If the keeper wants to take a step forward to dive further, start a couple of feet behind the line so that step into the line when they dive. pft, what i'm saying is we shouldn't be looking at encroachment down to the inch...and if we are then the exact same should apply to attacker encroaching into the box as yesterday there were 2-3 players in the box when the ball was kicked if the intent of VAR is the drill the game down to the nth degree it is fucked, it is not american football this was my issue with VAR. If they could jeep it as minimal as possible it would be fine. The game is made any better to watch by micromanaging every little thing.
