Lascelles has been one of our best players the last couple of games but probably wouldn't have been given a chance for a large portion of the season was it not for an injury. He's probably 1st choice now. The same can be said for Mbemba at LB, had Dummett not been injured, or we signed a LB, he'd be rotting on the bench for probably most of the season. As it is he looks like he's possibly goung to be our first choice LB until atleast January if he keeps it up. You cannot look at him as '4th choice CB' as there's only a limited amount of experimentation we can get away with.l, he could very well take his chance if given it. He was also only 21 the last time we saw him in this league.

I think it's harsh criticising him for the Shaquiri goal like, it was a smart finish. I agree it was savable but it's hardly one that even a top keeper saves close to 100% of the time. At the end of the day we quite obviously need a new keeper.

Pardew 'did well' to get us off to a great start where we defended well and/or telepathically guided the ball off our bar an ungodly number of times but as soon as we got turned over by Chelsea or Man City the rest of the season was definitely in-spite of him. It was massively frustrating at the time too.

People were in a rush to write off almost every one of our players 2 games in tbf. Definitely. Me included like, a lot of it has to do with the fact we're managed by a sex god but we probably need to hold off on our critisism of players.

Not quite sure how to put it, but they are different kind of "good passers". Shelvey might have better long range passing (diagonal balls). Personally I prefer Merino's kind of passing, as he releases it much quicker, recycles possession, and doesn't need as much space before he releases it. Merino is better when it comes to making us tick I think. Shelvey tries the Hollywood pass a little bit too often. Like I said, he's more Cabaye than Shelvey. He's a good, confident passer but he's not going to be pinging constant worldies.

I just think people are going a bit over the top about his passing tbh, he's comfortable on the ball and has a decent passing range by the looks of things, seems more like Cabaye in that respect rather than Shelvey though.

Shelvey's a far better passer like, he's just better at everything else. Absolute master of the Scott Parker Turn.
