  1. I'd take someone uninspiring who might actually be pretty good than someone who is exciting but ends up being s****. Sanchez Flores isn't any better than McClaren at all, anyone suggesting otherwise clearly just going by name and nationality. If McClaren was a French coach with an identical record there'd be far more support for him on here. If a French coach just finished 8th in the championship and got sacked, he would be booted back to France Didn't some on here want that Gourvennec? His side finished 10th didn't they. with a team that was expected to flirt with relegation Exactly, league position and league is irrelevant in isolation. The man got the sack because Derbys objective was to reach the playoffs,he failed! If they thought much of him they would of at least tried to keep him and if he did go to Newcastle would of got some compensation How is he even in the running to manage a premier league club u can gloss it up how u like he isn't good enough!! Who said he was good enough? It was the France bullshit that I have an issue with. Ultimately people would pick a mid-table french manager over someone who has actually won things. Because people are smart enough to look beyond a managers record? We know what we're getting with McClaren and it's uninspiring, he isn't going to have us competing at the top end of the table and he isn't going to have us playing good football. I'm not saying I want Gourvennec as I know fuck all about him but I can see why people would prefer him to this boring wanker.
  2. People hand pick their stories to suit an agenda. But their 'ITK' reports are completely separate to why people hate the Chronicle, whether they're true or not. They lick the clubs' arse and people think Ryder is a total doylem, that's where it gets it's bad name.
  3. It's their opinion pieces that are bullshit.
  4. Foreign names are more exiting because people tend not to know as much about them if we've never seen them in this league. Everyone knows McClaren, he's fucking boring.
  5. He was fit for our last 2 or 3 games.
  6. Not really, the least attractive in other areas you are as a club the more it will take to bring top players in. Hense why we have West Ham paying players daft shite like £70k a week where they'd be on about £25k anywhere else.
  7. I'd argue that for a French international there would be benefit to playing at a club with Sissoko and Cabella than at a club with no other French internationals, even if there will be little in the league placings of the mentioned clubs Now we have the that French contingent which is definitely a big bonus. But when he joined we had finished 11th, having just been promoted the season before. I can see why, with the pull of Houllier he would have them as first choice. That's where you are wrong. We have been signing players who are paid below the PL wage market value. Cabaye, Sissoko, Anita, MYM etc. all earn comfortably more now than at their old clubs. NO other club was willing to pay them such wages that's why they are here. To play in the PL the best shop window in the world and to get paid PL wages - the best in the world. Our wage bill is what 8th highest? SO guess what? Only 7 clubs in the division I would expect to be able to pay more than us. You seem to think players come here because we are a "big" club. No, they come to the PL because it's the best paid & best shop window and we are one of the bigger dogs. All things being equal we should not be signing the captain of Ajax. Ner, I think we're a far bigger attraction than Crystal Palace for multiple reasons though.
  8. London. That doesn't seem to have been a great attraction for them or their neighbours in the past like, unless it's accompanied by a massive paycheck.
  9. Delusion man I know fine well we haven't been outbidding anyone, yet, seemingly without even trying whilst actively not trying, we've managed to attract good players for years now. Few of which would have joined Crystal Palace unless they payed vastly higher wages. This isn;t even an argument of us v Palace though, I can see no reason why Cabaye would go there unless he really, really wanted to return to the Premiership and it was literally between them and Stoke, or something like that. If he has an offer from Everton he'll go there I'd imagine.
  10. Think I'll probably go Suarez FGS (5/1) or a Suarez brace (9/1).
  11. Also the only time clubs like Palace pull in top players is when they pay ludicrous wages, like West Ham and QPR have been doing. Newcastle has always had a pull for players, even now when we're probably the most shoddily run club in the country.
  12. Is anyone saying he hates Pardew, or that Pardew is the reason he left?

  14. yeah I'll just stick a few quid on what Wullie's suggested, cannot be arsed to look myself
  15. Yeah that's what I was thinking, it says this in their t&c "bet365 reserves the right to amend, cancel, reclaim or refuse any promotion at its own discretion."
  16. Nah, place the pre-match bet on 365, then lay it elsewhere, so your original £50 is guaranteed not to lose more than a couple of quid. Then you can do anything you like with the in-play one. I know some people like to combine the two bets to guarantee a small profit but I prefer to just make sure the qualifying bet doesn't lose, and try and win big with the risk free one. Cant see the point in betting £50 just to get guaranteed £10 or whatever like, its a great chance to gamble and win a few quid. Already over £1000 up on this offer since Xmas week so might as well push for another decent win. Was thinking similar to your bet with this, struggling to see more than 3 goals unless Juve implode. In play was going to be a toss up between Neymar at 5's or 2-0 Barca atm. What I saw before on another site was to put £50 on 'Over 0.5 Goals' pre-game, and then once the first goal had been scored to put your in-game £50 bet on whatever you want. If it's still 0-0 at half time then put your £50 in-game bet on 'Under 0.5 Goals'? It seems pretty foolproof but I dunno, can anyone see anything wrong with it?
  17. How does that work like Wullie? Place a pre match bet of under 3.5 - In-Play of over 3.5? If so why would you lay the bet elsewhere?
  18. That wasn't aimed at you btw Dinho, some clampit the other week. The thing with Ba and Cisse was that Ba was the only capable player we had who could play on the left, although they did link up well still (WBA especially). When you pull Ba into the middle you have to change the whole system to either a 4-4-2 or some really random shit like Cisse on the right. If we had a proper left winger there would have been little problem with Ba and Cisse battling it out for the striker role.
  19. Also, 2 of the BBC's match report headlines from the first 3 games of that season: Hatem Ben Arfa's penalty gave Newcastle an opening-day victory and ensured Andre Villas-Boas began his tenure as Tottenham manager with defeat. Hatem Ben Arfa's spectacular strike earned Newcastle a draw as they came from behind to deny Paul Lambert a first league win as Aston Villa boss. No way he would have won us any points last season though.
  20. Cisse scored 2 in 3 after the Wigan defeat (both against Chelsea), before Wigan he scored 8 in 6 (7 in 5 in the 4-3-3 with HBA and Ba). Those successive 5 games were by far and away the best we've played under Pardew. Interesting that when checking the stats I came across this from our game against Norwich at the start of the following season (game after Everton): http://www.theguardian.com/football/2012/sep/23/newcastle-norwich-match-report "His agent has also reportedly professed displeasure at Pardew's now preferred 4-3-3 formation, which is designed to maximise Ben Arfa's talents but has frequently seen Ba deployed in a wide role to the left of Papiss Cissé."
  21. What myth? Isn't what you've just said pretty much the point?
  22. How's Mourinho not working? EDIT: Doesn't matter, I didn't realise there were individual questions
  23. People, on here and elsewhere, have criticised Ben Arfa plenty for his 'greed'. And even his biggest fan would say something if he did something blatantly moronic, you have an obvious, weird agenda against the lad. On the whole I thought Ba's shots from distance tended to be hit decently and I'm pretty sure I can remember at least a couple causing problems for the keeper that led to goals in the follow up.
  24. We basically threw him in the shop window as well when Pardew dismantled our attack and made it all about Ba, seemingly to try and keep him happy, instead of returning back to THAT front 3.
