As long as they're not forcing players on a manager then it's a good system IMO. That's exactly what they would be doing by default though if the manager hasn't got the final say.

You've listed 4 teams, 2 of which have significantly better options in the centre

Well Deuce, I'd like to start off by saying you're wrong here, I'll just leave that there though and go onto instead talk about something completely separate to your post, pies maybe.

If you weren't worried about it you're not normal IMO. I wasn't tbh. Never thought it was possible that an idiot who lost 8 on the spin would ever be trusted with the job. Really? Well I did say it plenty of times in this thread. When he was first given the job I said he would be so poor that he wouldn't be in it come the summer - he was even worse than I expected (by a significant margin) and was still trusted to see the season out. I think if McClaren turned us down again he'd have carried on.

I thought we'd be past calling people emos for assuming Mike Ashley would do something utterly stupid like He will within the net few days by hiring Steve McClaren.

Football's greatest - where does Lionel Messi rank?
Hanshithispantz replied to Dave's topic in Football
You could say the opposite of someone like Maradona though, who's club career pales in comparison to Messi's. I mean it's not even in the same stratosphere. -

Not really sure what the argument is tbh, Messi is obviously good enough to 'win a World Cup'. Whether or not he actually does ever win one won't make him a better player, it's just a better story. -
Proper creased at Neesy in this thread Just constantly calling Taylor a twat for no apparent reason

Suarez double, was foaming when Neymar scored on the break after he'd been taken off My other choice was Rakatic anytime at 7/1 too, gutted. Neil/Wullie what yous have on?

Not really like, he may not be as depressing to watch as Pardew but my memories of him at Boro certainly didn't include "good attacking football." It's a lot easier to play good football in a league where a decent winger is all you need to slice the opposition open. I understand what your saying and agree with the Boro reference, but when we were down in the championship, we didn't knock the ball about the way Derby try to do. We hoofed it long to Carroll / Shola / Harewood and hoped they knocked it in, our Nolan / Lovenkrands took the knock down. I again, don't like to go against the opinions of fans of other clubs, especially when it's their own club they describe, because we all frankly don't watch Derby enough to form a concrete opinion. So it's one thing I am willing to watch and hopefully see develop. I don't think it will be Arsenal or even Swansea style play, but still. Edit: I know we had Jonas and Jose on LW, but they weren't spectacular towards our general build up play on a week by week basis. I've said it before like but I've not even watched Derby play under him, I'm just not too convinced them playing good football in the Championship will carry over to us in the Premiership.

Championship defences are fucking terrible. We signed Wayne Routlege and he pretty much raped the league.

What an absolute waste of time this has been.

I cannot wrap my head around this at all like We know what we're getting with McClaren, his record in Holland is entirely irrelevant.
-
McClaren is 54 and probably has some sort of Scottish ancestry
-
So hang on a minute, because I'm just going off this thread, but are you trying to claim a bloke who (in 3 seasons?) has gotten a club promoted twice and then led them to a solid 8th place finish on the back of those promotions as purely 'a mid-table manager' and discrediting everything he's done in those years because he 'hasn't won anything'? If so then that seems incredibly spiteful like.
-
"a mid table french manager" Pochettino was a mid-table Spanish manager, I'd have him over McClaren too.
-
I'd take someone uninspiring who might actually be pretty good than someone who is exciting but ends up being s****. Sanchez Flores isn't any better than McClaren at all, anyone suggesting otherwise clearly just going by name and nationality. If McClaren was a French coach with an identical record there'd be far more support for him on here. If a French coach just finished 8th in the championship and got sacked, he would be booted back to France Didn't some on here want that Gourvennec? His side finished 10th didn't they. with a team that was expected to flirt with relegation Exactly, league position and league is irrelevant in isolation. The man got the sack because Derbys objective was to reach the playoffs,he failed! If they thought much of him they would of at least tried to keep him and if he did go to Newcastle would of got some compensation How is he even in the running to manage a premier league club u can gloss it up how u like he isn't good enough!! Who said he was good enough? It was the France bullshit that I have an issue with. Ultimately people would pick a mid-table french manager over someone who has actually won things. Because people are smart enough to look beyond a managers record? We know what we're getting with McClaren and it's uninspiring, he isn't going to have us competing at the top end of the table and he isn't going to have us playing good football. I'm not saying I want Gourvennec as I know fuck all about him but I can see why people would prefer him to this boring wanker.
-
People hand pick their stories to suit an agenda. But their 'ITK' reports are completely separate to why people hate the Chronicle, whether they're true or not. They lick the clubs' arse and people think Ryder is a total doylem, that's where it gets it's bad name.
-
It's their opinion pieces that are bullshit.
-
Foreign names are more exiting because people tend not to know as much about them if we've never seen them in this league. Everyone knows McClaren, he's fucking boring.
-
He was fit for our last 2 or 3 games.

Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)
Hanshithispantz replied to a topic in Football
Not really, the least attractive in other areas you are as a club the more it will take to bring top players in. Hense why we have West Ham paying players daft shite like £70k a week where they'd be on about £25k anywhere else. -

I'd argue that for a French international there would be benefit to playing at a club with Sissoko and Cabella than at a club with no other French internationals, even if there will be little in the league placings of the mentioned clubs Now we have the that French contingent which is definitely a big bonus. But when he joined we had finished 11th, having just been promoted the season before. I can see why, with the pull of Houllier he would have them as first choice. That's where you are wrong. We have been signing players who are paid below the PL wage market value. Cabaye, Sissoko, Anita, MYM etc. all earn comfortably more now than at their old clubs. NO other club was willing to pay them such wages that's why they are here. To play in the PL the best shop window in the world and to get paid PL wages - the best in the world. Our wage bill is what 8th highest? SO guess what? Only 7 clubs in the division I would expect to be able to pay more than us. You seem to think players come here because we are a "big" club. No, they come to the PL because it's the best paid & best shop window and we are one of the bigger dogs. All things being equal we should not be signing the captain of Ajax. Ner, I think we're a far bigger attraction than Crystal Palace for multiple reasons though.
