Football's greatest - where does Lionel Messi rank?

Who was it Coloccini hit the bar against with one of the most ludicrous headers you'll ever see from a corner? Cisse against the Ivory Coast too. -
Sick rhymes.

Surely no matter how much they 'groom' him internally, they're not going to give him the top job when he's never managed at the top level before? It wouldn't be a matter of demanding him back, if he turns out well there'll be a natural rise in expectation over the course of the season and he'll go there. Although I think the same was said about O'Neill using the mackems as a stepping stone to the Man U job... He would just step in as caretaker and then keep the job if he does well I would assume. Or they could have looked at Barcelona with Guardiola and Vilanova. Anyway I'm just going by what Blueview said though "I can say that we are not that happy with the idea of PV leaving us... We see him as a potential replacement for any current manager we got" if that's the case and it applied to the Man City board I cannot see them wanting him to leave.
-
You cannot just send a manager out and then buy him back though whenever you want him, or at least you just wouldn't do it. If he comes to us then I imagine he'll be off City's list for replacing whoever he's meant to be replacing (unless he turns out to be absolutely fucking mega). It seems like the whole point of 'grooming' a manager is that he's already there when you need him, and he's already fully up to date and in the loop.
-
So hads on, are we talking about the club or the fans here? If Manchester City the club view Vieira as a successor to any manager they have then they wouldn't want him to leave, and neither would he.
-
Why would City want to send a promising manager out to another club only to bring him back a couple of years later? He'd be better off learning the ropes in house where, in a club like that, you'd imagine the clubs ethos trickles down to all levels. He goes somewhere else for a few year and you may as well just hire another manager.
-
If Manchester City truly see him as being their future manager then there's absolutely no chance he'll be joining us, man
-
It wasn't, because Swansea sacked him ASAP and replaced him with unproven Garry Monk. Pure unadulterated speculation. They sacked him with 14 games to go after a poor run of form and Gary Monk finished the season in the exact same position they were in when he left. It's also worth noting that Monk had been at Swansea for a decade, they hardly plucked the cunt from thin air. Lovejoy I wouldn't really be bothered if it was a long term thing or not, he's still a far more exciting choice to me that many of the other options available.
-
It wasn't a total disaster at Swansea.

How can hiring the Manchester City U21 manager be seen as a negative story? Come on man. Just because his abilities are largely unknown doesn't mean it's automatically a commendable risk to take, and they would deserve every piece of criticism if it fails. If this decision wasn't being made by the same muppets who refused to sack a failing Alan Pardew and gave John Carver the job for half a season I would assume there was some rational thought process behind it, but as it is I'm not exactly trusting of their abilities to pick out an unproven manager from the youth leagues and give him the framework he needs to be successful.
-
How the fuck do you come up with a shortlist with both McLaren and Vieira on it? They have absolutely no idea what they're doing man, unless it's just a ploy, which it probably is.
-
Garde was working at Lyon though wasn't he?
-
There are always options but are they attainable? Of those that are I'm not sure they are going to achieve much more than mid table and more apathy. Newcastle and Vieira might not have much affinity yet, but I see him as someone with the pedigree to wake the club up. Yes, obviously.
-
I have an unhealthy, almost weird hatred of McLaren so it's pretty much a no brainer and I'd take the risk. The fact we'd be taking a risk though is absolutely pointless
-
It's a fair question to make considering we effectively know absolutely fuck all about the bloke.

I honestly think this is just their way of trying to look like they're on the ball.
