  2. BBC Midlands Today ‏@bbcmtd 2m The Ricoh Arena is NOT on fire. A band is doing sound and lighting checks involving a smoke machine EDIT: Giggggsgsgsgsgssss
  3. He was far more likeable although his fence sitting was sometimes irritating. I think we would have outgrown him in the same way we have Pardew though.
  4. The wealthy clubs finish better off. The more frugal clubs finish worse off. Tells you something about how the clubs are set up to cope with the demands of Europa. Clubs much poorer than us coped much better than we have this year though. It probably is the case but it's only really the top clubs in which it can be measure. 13th isn't really worse than 12th for example, not in the same way that 6th is worse than 5th and 5th worse than 4th, they are genuine targets where it usually comes down to quality being the difference. We saw how much of a clusterfuck the bottom half of the league is yesterday, it just comes down to who was slightly shitter than who, we could just as easily have finished 17th as we could have 10th.
  5. So some teams finish a place or 2 worse off, some finish a place or 2 better off, some finish miles off because they're shite. I imagine you would see similar patterns if you were to look at teams fluctuating league positions without Europe too.
  6. They wouldn't have been his winnings they would have been the clubs. It does nothing whatsoever to support the idea that Ashley will pay a quality manager the going rate either way....or that any manager worth their salt would work under the conditions imposed on them. He's trying to run the club in the most cost effective way he can, he always has, and he probably thought he'd hit the jackpot last season with the system he'd implemented with Pardew in charge. The only way Pardew will be in charge, or another yes man like him, will be if Ashley still believes that this is the most cost effective way to go about things.
  7. I imagine most owners of large businesses don't just give their staff massive bonuses for no reason, it's always for the benefit of the company in some way, and it won't be any different with Mike. I just don't think he's ever shown himself all that often to be a cheap and nasty man?
  8. It would have cost him £1m of his winnings had we won, it would be like like me offering to get the rounds in if I drop a bandit, I would still be personally losing money regardless, if I won. Tbh I was just testing the water as for all you will claim that you are just striving for balance and fairness on the forum regarding Pardew it's pretty clear that you won't afford Ashley that same courtesy.
  9. He offered about one fifth of the reward that the players could have earned for the club with a win. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2326007/Premier-League-prize-money-table-final-game-2013-season.html#ixzz2TqqwqdBk Shrewd. Err, he didn't have to offer anything at all.
  10. He's also just offered his workforce a bonus of around £4k each (I havn't worked this out like) if we won our last home game, he sounds like a fucking fantastic bloke to work for in fairness.
  11. His reason for believing Mike will appoint a better/more expensive manager was that we have made big investments on the field. The fact that we have not actually spent that much on the playing staff, points to this faith in further investment off the field being baseless. Further, investment in playing staff is not particularly relevant because playing staff offer a return on investment. They can be sold at profit, or at least allow the club to recoup some of what was paid. Managerial appointments offer no such return, so for Mike Ashley it's pissing money away. He's a cheap and nasty man. Go into Sports Direct if you don't believe it. He's not a cheap and nasty man at all, he's one of the most successful men in this country
  12. Again Unbelievable missing the point by a fucking furlong and ending another post with "Mike won't do it anyway so it doesn't matter ner ner ner ner ner"
  13. I guess so, it's done in the interests of creating a debate though. I do the same thing sometimes, without the graphs. I explore various arguments for and against Pardew and how valid they are, it's possible to do that while still thinking that ultimately he's pretty poor. Just makes it more interesting chat IMO. It just seems like an unnecessary diversion from his major argument, that Mike Ashley won't get anyone better, that ultimately seems to be his major concern with sacking Pardew, not that he thinks we would be losing out on his departure directly. If it is genuinely interesting to people though then fair enough, some of his points I've agreed with as I would never claim that Pardew is completely inept, he's just a one trick pony, I really believe that a lot of those points are pretty much common opinion though, and are only being debated because people get set in full on argument mode and end up debating against points that they actually agree with. It doesn't help when there's a dozen people all debating at the same time either, it takes one silly comment from 1 daft cunt to be scrutinised and send the next 4 pages down an alleyway
  14. I don't think he's "trolling", I just think he's using purposely irrelevant or distorted graphs and charts with little to no context in an effort to give ground to a non-existent argument and fuel his own ego. He doesn't think Pardew is good enough for this club and he has had this opinion ever since he signed. It pretty much starts and ends there, regardless of whether or not we have been in Europe or whether or not we have had injuries etc. He isn't good enough for the club. He'll continue to debate against his own point though because he doesn't believe Mike will get anyone better and he gets to play around on excel a bit more.
  15. What the fuck is going on here?

He's seems to care more about his reputation than he does the football club he's meant to be running and he just looks a daft cunt. I imagine many managers have similar feelings to him fwiw (not the fascist stuff like) but they're smart enough to keep it in house.
  17. Fergie landed on his feet a bit with the TV deal and he's always had a decent base with Manchester, his achievements are still 2nd to non though. I'd still say Cloughie - baring what came afterwards due to his problems with Alcohol - was the most impressive.
  18. There's no "anti-Pardew bile", he's a poor manager and an even worse fit for this club; people surprisingly don't want him here. People also, surprisingly enough, realise that Ashley is a fucking moron when it comes to football, and yes, we get that may have a bearing on his next appointment. If it was your mission to prove that then I cannot help but feel it was a waste of time.
  19. Ashley is a mega-cunt, he's an immovable mega-cunt though. ----- Vuckic is now at the point of the debate where he has nowt else to say so is just peddling the "We'll only get Curbs lol" shite, it may not be far removed from the truth but I would far rather take the risk and let Mike appoint a new manager than I would go into the new season with Pardew. It's unbelievable how shit he is.
  20. Fucking said it before but this "Who do you think Ashley will appoint anyway!" is completely fucking nauseating.
