  1. 16 game ban for pushing a ref Why? Why not ‘just’ 4 games? Why do we have to go so far beyond what is already a huge punishment in footballing terms? It would be even harder to respect the officials or governing bodies if they insist on blatantly extreme punishments to ‘set an example’, rather than just dishing out a suitable punishment to fit the offence.
  2. I don’t think anyone believes it would be a pleasant experience being pushed and shouted at by Mitrovic like, not sure you need to referee Sunday league footy to know that. 4 games is a harsh punishment for any offence in football (short of actually chinning someone), 8 is just ridiculous, it’s almost a quarter of a season.
  3. 8 games is laughable like Bans need reducing across the board.
  4. When are they going to do something about Man Utd’s disgusting time wasting? It’s the worst I’ve ever seen. Vile.
  5. Spurs have great potential like, it’s a great gig for a manager like Poch imo.
  6. Aye Garang is old news now, I want this lad.
  7. Ozil was on the decline and only left Arsenal 3 year ago?
  8. "Hiding from the ball" is just shit/lazy position. There's a video out there of him literally running behind opposition players though, blocking off passing lines to himself, which is pretty funny Not sure how accurate that is of him all in all, but for all Longstaff's faults he pops up absolutely everywhere.
  9. He has the best assists per minutes played in the side (3 in 800+ mins) although I wouldn’t argue that was amazing or out, it’s not bad. He passes the eye test though, if he doesn’t do anything in a game he gets hounded in a way no other player does, but I’ve seen him play defence splitting passes and great crosses more frequently than any other attacker. I think it’s only really (and I cannot believe I’m saying this) recent Jacob Murphy who I would trust more than him to put a good ball in. I think he’s better than Trippier in the final 3rd.
  10. Said it loads but Maxi is one of our most dangerous passers in the final 3rd. It’s not even like it’s a hard attribute to spot, he consistently sets it up on a plate for people. His fitness is his major drawback.
  11. I’ve said it before but I would be for forcing a substitution and giving a penalty/goal rather than sending players off like, red cards often either completely ruin games or they do nowt (if they’re too late).
  12. Thought he was garbage on Friday like. He doesn’t look like he can defend at all.
  13. Regarding referees talking to media, honestly I think they should just have all power during major decisions (penalties, red cards etc) outsourced to VAR, which in turn would need improving (a VAR hub where multiple VARs independently check the decisions). Players and coaches can appeal whether the want to call in a VAR check if they spot anything. VARs would then each write up an independent report at the end of the game which can be viewable online. The on pitch referee would just be responsible for overseeing the flow of the game. The current system, where we know referees need help, makes no sense given VARs cannot help them in fear of undermining them, so it’s an easy fix for that.
  14. But Mitro could have killed him when he pushed his shoulder. It’s a clear red and extended ban but people are going over the top like. I love Mitro but he is an absolute moron at times.
  15. Longstaff has much better positioning. On the surface it makes little sense like but if we are interested I can only assume there's some tactical reason we've sussed he'd be great for us
  16. I don't think he would be a 6 would he? He wins the ball a lot high up the pitch and would be basically filling in Longstaff's role or no?
  17. I’m talking as a midfielder, he never looked close to a box to box player when Howe arrived.
  18. When Howe first arrived Joe Willock was a comical midfielder and now he’s a few goals away from being an absolute monster. On paper someone like McTominay is appalling but I would be excited to see how anyone develops here tbh.
  19. Both Felipe and Niakhate had the opportunity to clear the ball so even that ESPN article is overly forgiving to the VAR. I actually don’t think the rule is that complicated tbh, I completely get what they’re trying to do with it but we need to move VAR away from a few officials in a room and have multiple (preferably foreign) VARs independently reviewing incidents and writing up a report after each game.
  20. I cannot really take any statistic telling me x amount of decisions have improved with VAR when we know VAR has a 'high bar' meaning penalties will be waved away unless they're really, really, really a penalty. It's obviously been introduced due to the problem corners were bringing, but it means we're seeing players being thrown over in the box constantly with nothing given. These decisions are 'wrong', they would not be overturned if the ref had gave them. Juxtapose this with VAR micromanaging other calls, going out of their way to find infringements, and we have a really weird system that is letting a load of obvious infringements go, and 'correcting' others which would have caused no controversy beyond a shrug of the shoulders otherwise.
  21. Thought Dennis was off for some reason Pretending he was though the point is that just standing offside is fine. Intercepting/playing isn’t really anything to get stuck over though, he was fully in control of what to do with the ball. He had to opportunity to put his foot through it.
  22. He isn’t gaining an advantage though as he’d be offside if Isak played it to him. He’s onside because Felipe intentionally played the ball in his direction. The fact it was a stupid decision is irrelevant. It’s no different to Botman playing the ball back to Dennis.
  23. It would still be subjective though as they would have to determine when to apply the rule, otherwise you would have Burn passing to Maxi on the left wing being pulled back because Lodi steps forward playing Murphy off on the right.
  24. Rashford against Man City was an example of the murkiness around the law.
