Kudus seems good value at 60M if that's what it is. He's better than Pedro. Lots of dribbly action for anyone fretting about us not beating a low block. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/jun/30/west-ham-open-to-tottenham-offer-for-mohammed-kudus

Didn't Villa vote against us, City, Forest etc. on the related party transactions thing? I seem to remember that vote carrying something like 15 to 5, but if Villa, I dunno maybe Leeds, can be drawn over to the dark side, the Premier League will no longer have the 14 votes it needs to prolong the "craven to the Sky 6" status quo we have at the moment. I think we only need one or two more clubs to switch sides for the voting situation to change.

Chelsea seem determined to not do it the easy way, which would be to buy a top top striker. If you have an effton of money, my advice would be to not have a defensive midfielder as your and pretty much the league's record signing. Buy a twenty goal a season striker. If you can afford Caicedo, Enzo, and Mudryk (sp?), all 100M plus?, you can afford better than Joao Pedro, half of whose goals were pens.

Two years ago, he was great and helped seal fourth. His goals to minutes played was up with anyone in the league. Last year we had PSR issues and injuries all across the squad, so I understand him being kept, even if there was some decline and definitely long absences from Wilson. He now looks a shadow of himself, it does look like the injuries have finally taken their toll, so it doesn't look like he can contribute at the level we need.

Just passing on what I read the other day when looking for info on Villa and PSR, but.... https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-handed-100m-verdict-31948579 It sounds like they've settled on a valuation of closer to 60M, maybe to not ruffle feathers. My quote could still be correct though in that this valuation is based on speculation and not any actual finances of the Aston Villa women's team in 2025. We could of course do this ourselves now two others have done it.

A signing? As people who wear black and white in Korea say, Fantastic baby!
-
Good player, good delivery from dead balls. Speedy. Lots for Eddie to work with.
-
We'll sign him and he'll get two years of military service.

I think the big issue was Tonali's ban. This delayed the transition from the hell-for-leather super gegenpress we were doing to something more controlled and less injury inducing by a year. The resulting injuries and bad luck, like that effing all-time Group of Death CL draw, cost us the regression we saw last season. Full back updates were especially tricky for us, because Trippier was our most creative player. Liverpool might see something similar with Trent gone.

Thanks for saving me writing this out. Whatever BS posturing there may be beforehand, I would expect Palace to accept a decent bid made at the end of the window by a club in the CL Guehi would be happy to join.

Its getting to the point where us "making a move" would be a cause for celebration. A sign of life in the old dog, proof that someone actually has hold of the recruitment reins. The move wouldn't have to be successful to be better than days and days of "NUFC are contemplating...." There's been too much smoke for Villa to not sell someone, so something will happen there soon. Dat wage bill! If they're not careful, it'll be last minute firesale and buying someone's no-name keeper to not lose Rogers.

As a least worst exit strategy, I do like this sometime in the future. Swapsies are great for PSR, and we'd get about as high a level replacement as we could expect without spending a fortune. Kane is still killing it, has years left, and would be highly motivated to beat Shearer's PL goal record. The main thing would be to have mega speed, like Gordon and a RW like Elanga, in front of Kane. Bayern would get the Isak magic in big games. Only one CL semi in five years since they last won it. Isak's record vs. Arsenal and Liverpool shows he can turn up and deliver when it matters. This costs big money.

The valuation will be boosted with free money for PSR because they are doing swapsies with Leverkusen. We should do it with someone. Since its the Guehi thread, Guehi for Willock if that rumour (possibly singular) about Palace interest has any substance. If Liverpool do get Guehi, its a step down from VVD. Expect even more joy against them from corners.
-
It was also a gamble by a club facing low stakes. Finish anywhere from 9th in the league to 17th and it doesn't matter. Its important for us to be in the CL. Dropping one never mind two places is not an option.

Nkunku was a PSG reject before Leipzig where he got Bundesliga player of the season. So he's already resurrected his career once. I see potential value there, especially with the crazy valuations we keep hearing for other players. He's versatile and that's something we could certainly do with. All depends on whether Eddie likes him though.
-
If anyone disputes a transfer fee for Joelinton, set up a projector at the hearing, show the entire Carabao Cup final and then show some "highlights" of Fabinho's last season at Liverpool. Joelinton's fair fee with be at least double what Fabinho went for.

Real, PSG, and Liverpool all defender shopping at Bournemouth (ground capacity 11,307) at the same time. Three of the top six? in world football. Remarkable!
-
Depends on what the 80m gets you. If its top class in-demand matchwinner, I dunno, Ekitike?, you think about it. If its two Liverpool castoffs like Quansah and Eliot, the kind of signings the world of football thinks we deserve, then no fucking way.
-
Easiest explanation for extra running is Sandro. Does anyone have running stats for him? Kind of ironic that's its our cool-looking Mediterranean who bombs about all over the pitch.
-
Bournemouth are our kryptonite, so Semenyo's record vs. NUFC is P5 W2 D3 L0. One goal and two assists. For comparison, his combined record vs. Liverpool, Citeh, Arsenal, Villa, and Brighton is 20 defeats in 27 games. His record against Brentford even is P6 W0 D2 L4. The data is all comps.
-
For Everton to do a Forest, they'll probably need to copy Forest and sail very close to the PSR wind. Moyes won the Conference League at West Ham but couldn't finish in the top half with Rice, Paqueta, and Jarrod Bowen. The following season, after Rice left and with 100M in the kitty, they conceded 74 goals. They beat us final day but that was probably nerves and our main two strikers not have a functioning leg between them.

Still a bit square peg/round holey with Johnson left and no place for Maddison. Easier to just spend your big money on a LW. Frank's highest Premier League finish is ninth. Nuno finished seventh twice at Wolves but didn't last long at Spurs. Frank's record vs. NUFC is P10 W2 D1 L7, worse than I expected when I looked it up. The draw was Eddie's first game, the 3-3, which he missed with coronavirus.
