Jesus offside with his feet in his own half. Otherwise mackems give away a pen and probably down to 10.

We lost by four, but created much better chances than Arsenal when they lost by four to us in last season's semi. Man City's first was also scored with Ramsey waiting to come back on. That and the missed chances give Eddie a pass for the result and scoreline. My impression was that most of the damage in both legs was done down our right. Tino plays and its a different tie.

Came up way short. It's upsetting to be gifting them goals. Open game, so had chances ourselves, which were duly fluffed. If there is a positive, it's maybe some perspective on how big a thing it was to win it last year. This is a hard trophy to win.

Outdoing Arsenal against us last year. Missing the odd sitter as well for extra comic value for the haters.

I assumed out of hope it was why we'd had a relatively hard draw, but it was probably just NUFC luck in draws, which trumps all other factors. Do teams with higher coefficients still get more money, because that would be nice?

We need to get some kind of European football to get our coefficient up. Tottenham and Villa's are much higher from them playing in some kind of European competition more often. https://www.uefa.com/nationalassociations/uefarankings/club/?year=2026 Opta said Spurs had the easiest fixtures in the group stage. We had the fourth hardest. Hard fixtures mean less ability to rotate. Unless its us winning it, presumably the Conference place to the Carabao winner will go to the league. Arsenal, Chelsea and City will qualify for Europa or better through the league.

If "good" means consistent, then yes, we're not good enough for CL. We're very good on our day, one was four days ago and yesterday was good for 40 minutes, they are just not frequent enough. The saving grace is that the rest of the league aren't very good, so we don't need that much improvement to challenge for the lower European places. Get Bruno back in, and try to regroup. This month is crazy for fixtures so maybe best to keep expectations low for the time being.

Shit corners and all round delivery, two weeks running, capped off by gifting Liverpool one from a corner. All round performance was actually okay. Just our back five, Hall aside, had a mare.

Thank christ for that!

HAD TO BE!

True, my point was that Nick did his job in getting into a scoring position with a passing lane to him. The ball just didn't come. The move started with Woltemade laying it back to Sandro who gave Gordon a chase he won. A brilliant counter, we just didn't finish it. Story of the season, if you like. Shearer would have given a Ramsey a right earful.

Made a huge difference, and probably should have been awarded a penalty in a game of very bad officiating. He managed this up against Hakimi, not your common or garden right back. His goal tally has been hugely boosted by penalties this season, so its maybe strange to call him "unlucky", but I do think he's been a bit unlucky. If he wants to learn from successful others, my advice would be to follow Mo Salah and not give interviews. I know he's young but he needs to know that the UK press will happily build him up to knock him down, and the more he talks about football philosophy etc., the more bullets people will have to turn on him.

If Ramsey plays him in, it was an easy short pass to someone clean through in lots of space, we probably win the game.

Second fewest goals conceded in the group stage, off what was said to be the fourth hardest draw before it began. Not bad for a (insert shortcomings e.g.huge hole between defence and midfield) team.

By Toon in Paris standards certainly

Better! Keeper looks ropey
-
Up against it here. I don't think we've conceded in the first 15 all season, but are being completed dominated.

Oh dear, queueing up there. Bad giveaway to start it.

Wissa has looked more threatening this season than Isak who cost over double and will be paid at least double. Isak has been playing with better players in a team that frequently gets 60% possession, not 51% like Howe NUFC. In spite of this Wissa has done the same in numbers and better if you consider the chances he got but missed. He's been caught offside much more than he was at Brentford, which suggests he's still adjusting to our team.

His crossing when he goes down the line has been woeful recently. It really negates his pace. He's still young enough to work on it. The Jacob Murphy we have now is much better than the one who was Gordon's age.
