I'd be staggered if Ba was allowed in any way shape or form to leave this January, just cannot see it happening. Ashley was apparently livid at our final day slip up against West Brom which cost us 2-3m with our 12th place finish and not 10th place. Losing Ba in Jan could potentially cost us millions not only with the figures being banded around with the release clause claims but also with our final finishing place.

Ashley is a twatt but he likes his ££££££££££. I can't believe that a player who would potentially go for 15m or more now would be allowed to go for 7m because of a release clause. Ashley wouldn't hamstring himself out of shillings like this surely.

Is Guthrie back and fit yet? -
He'll get his run in the side now starting on saturday I imagine.
-
Atleast with Raylor on the right you have his crossing ability and his free kick potential so definitely a better option than Obertan.
-
We must resign him
-
Two QPR fans on talkshite both saying they saw it and he deserved to go. You buy Barton you know there's always going to be that risk despite what he spouts on twitter.
-
Usually a winger/player has atleast one redeeming quality, Obertan doesn't seem to have any and worse still he doesn't even seem to be able to make his speed count. Been a shite signing so far.
-
And who else would work under the same conditions that those two cretins at the top set? Nobody.
-
He needs to start a run of games to have a proper impact and he's too good to be sitting on the bench when you consider Jonas/Obertan are offering absolutely nowt at the moment. Either play him off the striker or give him a run on the wing although the second option clearly isn't going to happen. Pardew is going to have to change something though because it's not like he's got the option of freshening things up with new players.

Pretty gutless I thought, we went there to try not to lose, why not have a proper go ffs? Way too much respect to Liverpool Obertan was fucking awful again Ryan Taylor is what he is, Santon has to start from now on Tiote played well ( I thought) Jonas has disappeared completely recently Why on earth didn't Ben Arfa start? Simpson is a decent footballer but clearly a very average footballer Massive squad investment needed.....................never going to happen, same old shite All compounded by my classless fairweather cunt of Liverpool fan texting me a gloating message at the final whistle. That cunt will be reminded each time they lose and at the season when their success off the back of 100mil amounts to sweet FA.

Yes, if we signed a quality CB and Cissokho my heart rate would return to normal and I wouldn't feel like lamping some random in the street due to rage
-
Stozo, to be fair the reactions to the striker "news" aren't based purely on this latest development. We sold Carroll for 35m last January and didn't buy a striker. We then didn't buy a striker in the summer and now have said we're not going to buy a striker in January either. Don't you think the fans have a right to be fucked off? The club can only play this card for so long. If there's no intention for progression at all and simply staying in the league is the aim year after year supplemented by selling top assets, fans will lose interest and attendances will drop. It's not asking for Man City esque signings, simply a solid recruitment policy to push the club forward.
-
So Pardew has been told it's either a striker or defender. FFS what's wrong with buying both??? Same old s*** from this board, dear oh dear. We'll be walking a tight rope a la centre back situation the first half of the season. What is wrong with this board, christ.
-
Yes we'll almost certainly lose but atleast we should be able to give them a game this time. Positives.....? Tiote/Cabaye in midfield Ba is on fire Williamson back in defence Ben Arfa coming into some form As with the above comment I'm already resigned to losing this but strangely looking forward to this now probably because I'm not expecting anything from it. The pressure is squarely on them with their home form the way it's been.
-
I reckon money will be spent on a centre half but not a striker and we'll only sign one player in Jan. Just a hunch.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
ExiledGeordie replied to Pilko's topic in Football
It's not going to happen so need point in even discussing it really........however I agree that for what it'd cost to bring him back we'd be better off signing other strikers at a fraction of the price although back at Newcastle I could see him scoring goals. It's been an unmitigated disaster for Liverpool up to this point though and the only thing that is helping the Carroll situation is that there is an even bigger disaster going on with Torres at Chelsea.
