  1. It’ll be bonkers ? Some people will completely forget about how well we’ve done so far in transfers and that Howe and Ashworth understand exactly what’s needed and how to operate within FFP.
  2. They clearly also have way more FFP wiggle room
  3. Holt will be all over this. Fwiw human rights should absolutely be reported on and acknowledged but the one sided bias from journos (E. holt) to fit their agenda is ridiculous. Nobody gave a shit about the region when Ashley was here and now apparently plenty of them are ready to stick the boot in now.
  4. The meltdown on here if he goes to Pool? Paqueta was the player everyone seemingly wanted last summer
  5. I think Tonali’s availability clearly changed things. They could see the huge impact he could have on midfield to help Bruno, control games and provide depth. He’s a proper player. I think they liked Maddison clearly but he dropped down in terms of priority with Tonali coming into play. We werent going to pay those wages and there was probably some doubts about fitting into our style of play. Tonali will allow Bruno to have more influence further up the pitch as well as offering options on set pieces etc. We still have ASM currently, Gordon will be fitter and stronger next season and we’ll undoubtedly still sign at least one attacker/winger this window probably for that right of 3 spot. We do still need more creativity and a Diaby type player would be more beneficial for us I think. Maddison is an excellent player but it’s probably taken it’s natural course in the end with him ending up at Spurs.
  6. The wages and age just don’t fit, not sure about the character either. Is he that much of an upgrade on ASM anyway purely ability wise? I don’t think so.
  7. I would judge that at the end of the transfer window not end of June. Howe, Ashworth et al have done pretty well so far, I’m not worried at all.
  8. I think he’ll be a completely different player next season
  9. If we’re going to make our mark in the champions league Miggy doesn’t cut it really and Miggy isn’t going to be enough of a game changer in big league games. We need another game changer up there to break games open.
  10. Spurs will play him as more of a 10, we weren’t going to change our whole system for him. I think he would’ve still been a decent signing but I can see why the club haven’t gone for him. I don’t think they thought they could get Tonali and when they realised they could that probably changed things. We’re probably looking more at wide forward/winger with pace to be honest.
  11. We definitely need another player who can open teams up and score crucial goals in big games. I agree though Diaby will be too expensive.
  12. Yes I think we’ll sign an attacker for that very reason mate. We need more creativity and goal threat ?
  13. Tonali is pretty handy with his passing too to be fair. Bruno will almost certainly have more influence in the final 3rd with Tonali coming in. I think they’re probably looking more at a right sided goal scoring winger/forward now.
  14. Yes probably, I was talking relatively so. Rest is as important as training but I meant he’d go from the euros into pre-season with an appropriate rest in between.
  15. I think we were interested in him but for various reasons that’s cooled massively and we moved on. All will be revealed in coming weeks I’d imagine.
  16. All The talk has been that Leicester were wanting 60m then it was 50+. This deal appears to have been ironed out pretty quickly which suggests we didn’t get involved at all really.
  17. Yeah I agree, I think the people who really wanted Maddison will be fine once the attacker or attackers come in.
  18. Yeah it’ll be interesting to see who else comes in. I think Spurs needed a signing like this, he’s exactly what they needed to be fair, that was plainly obvious watching them last season.
  19. 40m is a good deal but leads me to believe we can’t have been that interested if it was that price? One bonus of Tonali is Bruno can have more influence further forwards but I still think we’ll see the creative attacker come in soon enough.
  20. These euros have come at a good time for him to get his fitness up then straight into pre-season with Howe.
  21. Tonali is a proper signing and will help Bruno out as well as a myriad of other benefits but yes I agree we still need that attacking, cutting edge. I’m sure the transfer committee at nufc discussed Maddison long and hard and there’ll be reasons why they haven’t gone for him if as it seems he ends up at Spurs. I would’ve liked to see us sign him and I agree on the impact he’d have on right games at homes. That said they may have decided they want a slightly different player (more out and out winger?). I’ve also read the Hungarian lad can play in multiple positions, maybe that’s a factor? Maybe Maddison’s injury record was more of a concern? They probably have other targets and options which don’t equate to breaking their wage structure too. Or maybe they’ve just never rated him as highly as we thought they did. A midfielder, attacking player and left back seems like the key positions wanted and I’m pretty sure they’ll all be filled with the right signings.
  22. I thought it was 175 but aye either way we aren’t paying him that. Spurs probably need him as a signing more than we Do but I’d have been happy with him as a signing too. Equally I’m not that bothered if we don’t sign him really.
  23. If we’re truly after him then it’s a financial decision and a desire to live near London.
  24. If he doesn’t want to come it’s fine move in, maybe he wants our number one choice anyway, who knows. On the face of it if we do want him and he’s choosing spurs it would seem a bit odd but the lad will have his own reasons. Some people will go way over the top though if he does go to Spurs, proper radged up nonsense ?
