Agreed. His poor form initially I think was related to āoff fieldā issues. The end of the season he looked off the pace following injury. I donāt doubt heāll probably be back to somewhere close to his best for the start of the season but I can still see us selling him to aid bringing in a RW signing (or maybe a higher calibre signing)
-
We potential had no other option then due to our dire situation, we donāt have to sell now so thereās a big difference.
-
Unless Gordon āwantsā to leave he wonāt but with two years left on his contract we will have to sell if he fancies Pool. New contract incoming if he doesnāt go thatās for sure. The issue with selling him is heās integral to what we do and then you have to find a replacement. I tend to think if Guehi comes in (they supposedly get in very well) then thatās another reason heāll stay.
-
The thing is if Guehi does come in and plays on the left of central defence eventually (Schar right) Howe might be more encouraged to play Hall because he knows he has pace at the back to offset Hall going forward or any potential defensive lapses (Hall isnāt slow either to be fair).
-
Yeah would also like to think that v Southampton at home Howe would look for more offensive threat from LB which Hall gives. Heās had a good preseason and is up to speed whereas Kelly isnāt up to speed yet. I actually think itāll be Hall, Burn, Schar and Tino (or Trippier). Obviously if Guehi comes in before the first game then Howe would have to decide whether to start him.
-
He's already back I think, sure I heard the lads on all with smiling faces pod say that
-
10m for a striker is nowt in this day and age letās be honest. Theyāve clearly identified his qualities and think heās worth a punt. Very hard to get a 3rd option striker happy to sit behind two other strikers. Chances are with Wilsonās injuries heāll get plenty of game time anyway.
-
Who knows but I think we will have earmarked right CB and RW as the key positions and will get it done one way or another. Thereās just no way we can go into another season with Murphy and Miggy as our RW options (yes I know Gordon can play right side too). I think Iāll explode if that happens š
-
I think youāve made a really good point here. I think theyāll strengthen at RW but it might be taking a bit more of a chance on a player in the 30-35m range which is fine to be fair considering weāve done well with previous players in that range. Be interesting to see what happens.
-
Me either, itās unbearable š

I get where youāre coming from but weāve got pretty lucky with Schar and injuries recently and heāll need replacing at the end of the season. Schar gets injured as we donāt have anyone currently. Just listening to the lads on all with smiling faces podcast and own saying Miggy going out could be the key to a RW signing. I hope that isnāt the case but it could be. I think we will strengthen the RW position and I think a few outgoings such as Trippier will seal it.
-
If we bring Guehi in and sign a RW who can change/win games (with Gordon opposite) weāve got a team who can go to top sides and cause them major problems.
-
Sounds like final amount and structure of payment type situation. Fingers crossed we close this one out.
-
I disagree but letās see
-
I can understand if we werenāt going to bring in a brand new expensive striker but Iād be very surprised if we didnāt have the funds for two starters. (And I still think some players will go out if needs be too)
-
Hes still not near good enough either, fine as a squad player. I donāt think we get top four without a new starting RW.
-
I still think the issue with him is that heās just not good enough. Heāll hit the odd worldly, but heās horrendously one footed and his decision-making for a final pass can be really poor. If heās starting RW for the 24/25 season something has gone wrong.
-
If we come out of the window without signing a proper new RW the window will have been a failure. Weāve needed one for ages, has to be sorted.
-
I think heāll go but later in the window
-
They mustāve also had word that he was interested too.
-
I like your positivity and thereās loads going for us but its just my opinion and Iād love to be proved wrong.

The worst Newcastle player you've seen in a match

Cacapa v Portsmouth was shocking, I was in the Gallowgate for that (lost 4-1 I think) -
-St James and unique atmosphere (which heās commented on) -Working and developing under Howe - Playing with the likes of Bruno, Isak and Gordon - Decent chance of top four qualification and cup run ā¦.are all reasons why he might be keen to come.
