  1. I like a lot of what Hope says but I agree he likes these kind of stories that stir up a bit of drama. Much ado about nothing re Bruno if you ask me. He’ll sign a new deal eventually and be with us a few seasons yet.
  2. Yeah he does look ready for this season. I know pre-season isn’t always the best judge of a player but he’s looked really sharp and strong with clinical finishing.
  3. From memory clubs often get a couple of targets in early and then things slow down a bit. It always ramps up again in August and goes bonkers towards the end. It’s not like we haven’t signed anyone anyway. Selling clubs often need confirmation they can get a replacement in before selling so that can slow things down. If we sign Livramento and bring in another CB we’ll be looking good and I wouldn’t rule out another signing or two (? loan options) later in the window
  4. Maybe they weren’t our main targets and we moved on from them? We’ve signed two key players in key positions and look like we’ll probably bring in Livramento. It’s also likely we’ll bring in a right sided CB so i don’t think the window will be that quiet really and there’s still another month to go anyway.
  5. Yeah it’s daft really when you consider other transfers which have gone through to Saudi
  6. I agree. I think it’ll be at least one full signing of a defender and maybe one loan option. I also think we might bring in another winger/forward option for the right side.
  7. There’s a difference between sharing opinions on players and who we might sign and staring pretty categorically that the club is making the wrong move. I enjoy coming on here and reading others opinions on players and nufc topics, a forum is pretty pointless otherwise. But regarding transfers when someone states E.g “that’s a terrible move because of x,y,z, why aren’t we signing this player?” I don’t really get that as the club will have far more insight anyway. just my opinion obviously?
  8. The club announced it later officially because of the accounts at the end of June if I recall, similar to Botman? I place zero significance or care about the length of time it takes to sign players nor concern about who we are signing. We’re a proper run outfit who are making good decisions. It’s the same regarding cost and previous injuries, let the clubs team of analysts worry about those things. Ultimately when the player is holding the shirt up at the end of the process that’s all I care about. ?
  9. I would hope that as our revenue goes up with sponsorship this type of situation becomes less of a need or corners but I do get your concerns. I think people are almost waiting for us to trip up really. Other clubs will be desperate to jump on any chance because they know what’s coming as we build. I just hope the fans are patient because the fact we’re the richest club in the world means sweet fa regarding the player recruitment side of the operation.
  10. I wouldn’t entirely agree really, Tonali’s was relatively quick. The ASM transfer is obviously going to be scrutinised and therefore add some time re the PIF link but Christ it’s not like we’re selling him for 80m ? That would definitely raise eyebrows and rightly so. But 25-30m is hardly inflating his valuation ffs when you look at other transfers going out to Saudi.
  11. I’m inclined to just let Howe and Ashworth et al decide who they think is most appropriate recruitment wise ?
  12. I think this almost certainly the case. Ultimately it’ll just come down to agreeing on transfer fee unless they’re being completely unreadable and we’ll move on.
  13. On the face of it that looks like an excellent signing for Villa and enough to get some of our bedwetters going on social media ? He seems like the type of player we could’ve done with but Howe et al have their plan and we’ll still be pretty potent especially with Barnes coming in. Im not keen on Villa but agree on sentiments about other teams including us upsetting the Apple cart of the top 6. I actually had this very conversation with a Villa fan a few months back and we both agreed on this irrespective of any club rivalry.
  14. Definitely agree on the left back and right CB is a concern with injuries. A R CB with pace would be ideal. Seems like Livramento will eventually come in so that’s RB sorted. A young adaptable forward would be good to add strength up front. It’ll be interesting to see how they recruit from here.
  15. People also worrying about his injury. Let the club do the worrying, they do the analysis and pay the money after all and they’ve done pretty well so far. If he costs 30m and that’s what they’re prepared to pay then fine. Every signing comes with risk anywya.
  16. Tonali’s arrival will definitely allow Bruno to have more creative influence too not that either will player defined 6 or 8 positions. As you mention above Isak can interchange and has that element of the “unpredictable” anyway.
  17. I wouldn’t say an ACL if that’s what he had is a horrible injury, yes it’s very unfortunate and you aren’t guaranteed 100% recovery but they’re commonplace thesedays and well treatable. A complex fracture can be much more problematic imo.
  18. Generally with the quality of ACL surgery and intensive rehab people can usually get back to or close to their former levels. I can get someone back running at a basic level in 10-12 weeks then you can introduce change of direction and plyometrics. Obviously this is just with recreational athletes and Joe Public. Footballers have intensive daily rehab plans and analysis. Wilson has had two ACLs, one on each leg. Everyone is different obviously but I’m not that worried about his injury and I’m guessing they’ve done their analysis.
  19. Does sound like a lot but they must really rate him I guess.
  20. Yeah very direct and fast, proper Howe signing and player
  21. I think this will get done eventually, seems too strong a link
