Southampton vs. Newcastle United: 25/01/25 @ 15:00 (No UK TV)

Just looking at the table, we’re 6 points behind Forest and Arsenal who have tough games coming up and on paper we have winnable games. Massive opportunity. -
RW is presumably still priority?
-
I wonder if Miggy goes plus the players out of contract in the summer we aren’t renewing gives us the leeway to bring someone in?
-
Jan transfer usually hots up in the final week anyway, so probs from Monday/tues is when most deals will happen.
-
Massively contradicting article from Edwards lol. Throws out one argument insinuating that’s it’s ridiculous the club aren’t strengthening and risk blowing champions league qualification. Then goes into detail about how hands are tied and essentially we could up having to sell players in another emergency situation come June if we sign someone 🤷♂️ 😂
-
Yeah when the takeover happened I was really excited for the ambition and also that we’d progressively build the club making shrewd and exciting signings each window, or in the summer anyway. Our wings have totally been clipped by PSR and it’s massively tapered my ambitions for what the club can achieve.

It’s a tough fixture but they’re beatable at home, games are so hard to predict too. -
Seems like if you get into europe you get punished even more 🤷♂️

I’ve forgotten what a new signing is 😂
-
😂 so true, PSR has completely killed competition and any excitement. Total farce

The difficulty for any manager coming in for them at the moment is this mish mash of players that are left over from previous reigns. Some of ETH’s signings have been awful and just simply not worked and cost a fortune. This combined with the fact Amorim has come in halfway through the season makes it even harder for him certainly in the short term whereas getting a pre-season makes all the difference. Maybe they couldn’t get him in the summer but it seems mad looking back now giving ETH a new contract then sacking him and paying him off. The Ashworth situation was an odd one too.
-
Yeah I wondered that too

That is awful, KSI ffs

They play some really good stuff at times but certainly against Man U lacked that finishing edge. At least Dibling will be missing for them, he’s dangerous. -

We just need a committed, professional performance. I’m not bothered about thrashing them but we need to get back on track and take advantage of the fact Bournemouth play Forest and City play Chelsea next weekend. Weekend after when we play Fulham at home the Arse play City and Forest play Brighton at home. Win the next two and things could look pretty good going into some tough fixtures. -
You’d think this is where Mitchel comes into his own. Squad rotation and player sales is probably on Howe’s areas to improve.

They are good on the ball but give you loads of chances so Isak should be all over them. -
Burn, Botman, Schar and new right sided CB in summer?

Must win with games around us where teams have to drop points because they play each other. -
Botman will surely start next season with Burn back up and a R CB to come in plus Schar. If it’s to fund more vital areas of the team I get the logic.

I wonder if (and you’d like to think so ffs) selling Miggy and Kelly paves the way for a RW signing? Or are the skirting so close to the line that they can’t sign anyone?
