Any youngster would be better than Williamson. He won't get in the team, but it's just a complete waste of space. Give some youngster some excitement instead. Or Abeid, thinking about it. So much more sensible. Obertan starting is very much expected, but I'll be pretty f***ing annoyed if he plays 90 minutes again.

And instead he plays one of the most hated. That's the major issue, really.

I reckon he rates him. You can see what McClaren has done with players he doesn't rate. Fair play to him for that, but Obertan should be treated just like Williamson and Gouffran.

Sounds like a bit of a hyperbole mong. Every other man/expert/scout that have seen him play seems to rate him, so I wouldn't care too much about what this guy bleats on about.

Neither has Obertan. He's been here 4 years now for gods sake. Cabella is ten times the player Obertan is. Obviously good coaching and time to settle will improve his play here.

I'd like to believe that but i'm not so sure. Me neither. McClaren has talked about that Aarons is young and needs protection (bit of a pet hate of mine), while suggesting Obertan is the best way to counter good attacking full backs. He'll have watched the pace of Obertan, and him doing good enough in traning to make McClaren think he can make a good footballer out of him. He won't.

Lee Ryder isn't the only journalist claiming it. Miles Starforth (above) says the same. Not that he would definitely know either, but I reckon they're told he's not a priority.

He might not be shit on the ball, but his hold up play really isn't good. And his first touch is too often awful. That's why he's so frustrating. It's his position to lose, but I reckon Mitrovic will slot in nicely.

Not sure I agree with that, especially considering their first goal. And they took him off before he was sent off IMO. Disappointing stuff. If he did it to be careful with Aarons, he'd just say that + big up what Obertan has done in training. Seems like he actually rates him. If he thinks Obertan copes the best with attacking full backs, he'll play against the best teams. He'll play anyway now though, thanks to that assist.

Wish we could have Chester and his Prem experience.
