  1. Feeling unwell but the Chelsea and Man U scores are a nice pick-me-up
  2. 26% possession for Luton. I know Bissouma went off on the cusp of half time but fuck me, it’s going to be a bit of a boring season at the bottom of the league this year. Luton are guaranteed to go down
  3. Well done the ref for restoring some respect in the officiating ranks
  4. Good tempo to the derby but ball retention has been so sloppy from both sides
  5. Fantastic save from the Boro keeper
  6. Fuck Liverpool man, and fuck the Refs. Liverpool fans going on like they’re making a stand to try and improve referee officiating standards while no one else does anything. When in reality it’s all about their own ends and will likely have a massive impact on how refs manage Liverpool games for the rest of the season
  7. A striker is going to be essential very soon too. Wilson’s body is just able to sustain even half a season of games. If Isak was injured we’d be reliant on playing Gordon out of position for a lot of games. I love Jow but he’s not a striker
  8. Can barely imagine what level of little bitch you have to be to not only pull the trick of buying loads of programmes to sell on at a massively marked up price but then to post about it online and say shit like “busiest one ever, lol.” Needs to be branded somewhere visible so everyone knows he’s a wrong’un

Have you chatted to Oldtype before? Can’t think of many people less likely to have a meltdown or start abusing people. The debate’s been pretty civil and there’s been a miscommunications and also just major differences of opinion. That’s all fine, and why we’re here

I thought it was snide to say “I’ll leave it up to other people to decide…” when you clearly were inferring that you didn’t believe him yourself. You could have said “I find that hard to believe in all honesty, I’m not sure if that’s just me…” Venkman was making the point that he doesn’t have a preference in principle about men’s or women’s football. Personally, I have a massive learnt preference for men’s football based on a lifetime of supporting the men’s NUFC team so all my footballing references are from the men’s game. In principle I could enjoy the women’s game just as much as the men’s but it’s unlikely I ever will in practice because of how much time I’ve invested in the men’s game amongst other things

I’m with you on this entirely Venkman. I think the point Wullie is making though, although a little snidely in that post about “leaving it up to others to decide” is that in practice you consume a lot of football and that the vast majority of it will be men’s. You are a massive NUFC fan but that’s because of supporting the men’s team rather than being a big follower of the women’s team I imagine. So in practice, there is a preference based on your environmental experience, you’d likely choose to watch the men rather women play if they were both on at the same time. However, what you’re arguing is that having a more intrinsic feeling of “i could never enjoy women’s football or there’s no way I could enjoy it as much as men’s” is misogyny which I agree with because it’s all socially constructed
  12. Is anyone actually in favour of them turning on music as soon as final whistle blows? Why can’t we just enjoy the atmosphere for at least a few minutes. Totally jars with me

The idea that women aren’t funny is absolutely baffling to me. I know a bunch of hilarious women, one of whom is probably the funniest person I’ve ever met. Women on panel shows have a hard time of it because panel shows are largely shit and the atmosphere is toxic. Loads of male comedians say the same. However, if you go to Edinburgh festival and go to some of the best reviewed women’s comedy shows they’ll likely be a fantastic standard. Got nothing else to say really, this thread has brought some stuff to the surface

Oh dear, things have taken a turn
  15. Feels like one of those players that will stay at West Ham until he’s getting on a bit and then will transfer to somewhere like Spurs but maybe I’m doing him an injustice. I think he’d be very good for us but for some reason he just feels like one of those who will stick around at his club for years to come
  16. Was Hakimi even that bad? By his own standards he didn’t have a great game but it wasn’t utter shit
  17. Liverpool looked average as fuck tonight They were lucky the Belgian side were awful in front of goal

Also, no one’s changing their opinion of Keegan. He’d have to kill someone for me to start thinking twice about him. He’s basically my favourite living person that isn’t family or a friend
