Our wing roles are interesting at the moment. Ben Arfa can nail either and also a central role. Ferguson is great on the left against weaker teams when we're dominating (to be honest though, I think he's got the quality to look good against most teams, he's very natural.) Obertan can play on the left, I believe that. I really don't think he can on the right. Jonas is a great defensive midfielder but I think his time on the wing is close to being over, certainly if we are going to be more of a passing side. Marveaux has a top left foot and can play on either wing but hasn't managed to shine through yet, he has a lot of quality though. Finally, I've liked what I've seen from Sammy a lot. I think he has huge potential but will really struggle to stake a claim above the others mentioned already. The wings are definitely the most sorted position in my opinion

I like this a lot
-
He's so fucking hungry this lad
-
His left foot is a natural footballer's foot. Strokes the ball well, times it perfectly can cross impeccably without any prep and has great touch. Perfect for a winger
-
This, or at least, play him on the left in a fluid system when his head's right and we might see more of tonight
-
Don't think we can look past the fact obertan is on the left tonigh. The only times I've seen him play well were on the left. Also, he has more space. Credit to him, him and cabaye have been class. Shola is beautiful tonight
-
Cabaye looking sharper, general tempo better, ferguson playing - all good
-
I really don't know what people are seeing in Sammy. I know it's early days for him but so far, despite his speed and awkward dribbling style, I've seen no indication of him being first-team material yet. he's got really good vision which shines through despite his age. Loves to run at people, is fast and has good technique. Its all there for him to be a very good player

Deschamps is a total Souness in the sense that he allows personal issues to completely override good judgement. It's fucking pathetic but I couldn't care less. Hatem is an absolute genius and the less he impresses on the international stage, the more chance he has of staying in my opinion. Potato-headed fuck - deschamps

Mare for chopra, got in too deep with his gambling. He's fucked now
-
Adrian Chiles - just go away, please, just go away
-
I enjoy when he destroys journalists. There's a lot of scum in the industry and he puts them on their asses whenever they give him an opportunity

Clatts is on form tonight like
-
West Ham should fuck off. I really really dislike them

Re: yorkie. His decision only to go to a PL size club. If he ever wants to be a good manager, he should work his way up, not start near the top anyway. Also, theyre a disgrace of a club in the way theyre run
-
Well within their rights but I just don't think bringing that atmosphere to a stadium is ever a good plan. Sure, before or after games but during? Absolutely no way
-
Didn't you win a few hundred on that scoreline for this fixture last season?

It's Not About Formations. Its Systems. Style of Play.

I like this thread. Sometimes a point made in a thread gets washed away so now and again having a topic which could easily be in another thread, makes it easier for a proper discussion. I remember that article from last year where it said Pardew worked on the defensive stuff four times a week and then Carver worked for a day on attacking. This worried me at the time and in view of our performances both last season and this season, it does still worry me. I think Anita can really help us to speed up our tempo through the middle but he's not quite there yet -
would lose some respect for him if he went there
-
because only ferguson can cross well
-
I want him on the wing over fullback. He has the pace and crossing ability that is best utilised on the wing. Like a lot on here, he needs to start and we should be looking to get him in our best 11 because his crossing is better than anything we've had in years

Bloody hell, Madras is back. And right too. Good to see
