I'm on board until December 2012. If we're not playing good football with the players we have at our disposal (and I'm expecting another few exciting summer purchases due to our scouting) then I'm really going to question the situation. I think he's one of the best organisers of players defensively in the league however we can be more than that as a team and I've not seen any signs that we can under Pardew yet. I will however accept that it takes a while to form a team and make them play instinctively together. I'd say that we've rarely looked like a team going forward this season but we've often looked like a team defensively. Let's see a bit more of the former now that we're getting towards the end of the season
-
The thing is,it's not about Hatem.it's about footballing philosophy,I don't mind if he goes in the summer as long as we are aiming to become a more pass-move team.I'm a fan on so far as I think he can improve us,IRS nut about desperately wanting him because Im a fan of him.we need players who are technically excellent and offer a direct threat from midfield.at the moment we really have so few players who can fulfil that. I know it seems like a Hatem argument but for me it's an Nufc argument and a footballing argument and one that really disappoints me because I believe in it a lot and haven't seen it enough
-
In response to Cajun the reason I want Hatem in the side is not because he's better than the other options but because he offers something they can't.no one scares defended like he does and can put them on the back foot.he can transfom the way we play,I truly beleive that. We have some average players of course but: Krul Santon Saylor Colo (I would give Ferguson a run out at least) Ben arfa Tiote Cabaye Gutierrez Ba Cisse is far better than most, including Liverpool, arsenal and even Chelsea this season if we could get the players to gel properly.with injuries we lose it a bit,Williamson for me is nowhere near as good as saylor and perch is a weak link but Raylor has stepped up well in a squad role.it's asking a lot to expect he starting 11 I put out to be fit but even if we 1,2 maybe even 3 of those players,we should still be playing better football than we have this season.I just haven't seen enough to believe we had a system in place long term
-
Wish the point of view 'we're 5th/6th in the league' so we can't really challenge pardew on the whole didn't exist.I've said this before and been criticized for it but in terms of performances this season we've been average considering the players at disposal.we should be controlling games more and dictating play.hatem can help us to do that and while it means adopting a more risky strategy where we may lose points (look at Keegan in his second managerial spell) we will on the whole benefit from it.my only thought is that we're bedding in a lot of new players this season an maybe it's taking a while for them to play as one but if next season we play the standard of football we have this season, there is no chance of us being a top six contender I wrote this on an iPhone so it might be drivel.I mean what I say however

He's a fat fuck and his brand is filth but if anything has been proved since he changed the name, it's that no one gives a shit and most people still refer to it as st. james's park
-
This is just completion rate though right? So someone getting on the end of it? There's a hell of a lot of a difference between Jonas's style of crossing and someone like Valencia or Ben Arfa. I'd take one really good cross out of ten everytime over 4 floaty average out of ten
-
95% of his crosses are f***ing dreadful. I'd say for the amount of time Jonas has played on the wing in his career, he's probably one of the worst crossers of the ball I've seen. Even Enrique, who was awful to begin with, is now a much better crosser of the ball

Fortunately, I think we have been one of the few clubs who have kept an eye on the 'bubble burst' with financial planning. Football is on the precipice right now, the longer the recession goes on, we'll see this happening more and more. Can't wait for the day when wages come down but that'll be the last thing to go
-
If we are doing well, maybe. He's shown f*** all in the games he has played tbh. I've been a bit disappointed. I know he's young but he's obviously got talent. His problems so far have been using almost no brain, final delivery and defensive shitness. I would much prefer us to persevere with Ferguson at the moment if Sammy is not up to the mark yet

Top man, brought me my best days as a Newcastle fan.will always be at the top for me
-
Ox is excellent, such a direct player with pace, confidence and trickery. He's the closest in terms of excitement as when Rooney broke through (was it 2004?) so I would definitely take him. I don't know whether Scholes would be any good for England but he still remains a superb footballer and passer of the ball. I hate him though
-
Scholes is the best passer of the football in the league still. Silva and Modric have better movement off the ball and with it but for just straight passing, Scholes is still the best in my opinion.
-
Ryder can fuck off, he knows nothing about football. I cannot even begin to explain my disappointment at this situation. It's not for goals that I want Ben Arfa in the team, it's for the way he'll transform into a passing team with movement. Ba, Cisse, Cabaye, Jonas, Colo and Santon are capable of linking up with him and really frightening defences. Instead, what we're doing is letting teams come onto us far too much and relying on good defensive organisation. We should be able to marry the two, defensive organisation with an attacking mindset.
-
A lot of fans would do this, Pardew never will. Maybe for the last ten minutes in a cup game, so let's wait until 12/13 to see if that happens
-
Really really like Mick but don't think he's ever going to achieve anything in the PL. Will be jumping between the two top leagues his whole life. Look forward to seeing him as a pundit as he says it like it is and has got great heart. Hope Wolves get a shite manager and disappear because their brand of football is shocking
-
4-0 win, think we'll see an attack-minded philosophy for this game. Want to see a midfield four of Jonas, Cabaye, Tiote, Ben Arfa with the Senegal boys up front. Would also like to see Ferguson get twenty minutes on the left.
-
I've yet to see what I'd call a 'good defensive' performance from him. I like him a lot and think he will turn into a superb force going forward, he's already really good and scares the shit out of defenders. Haven't seen him strike the ball amazingly but the main worry is his defensive side at the moment. I'd like to see him at right back for a run of games but if that's not going to happen, keep him at LB and let him develop that side of his game. Pardew should be able to improve him positionally because at the moment he gets lost a little and even though he's fast, people get past him too often
-
Pardew's got a number of things right since coming in, he's got this one completely and utterly wrong. We could strike fear into teams with a more attacking mould and Ben Arfa is the player to do it. Instead, he gets bit part roles, has to play with Shola up front, has to wait for every player in the team squad to get a game before him and then when he does play we're left expecting him to transform us, even though he's been given hardly any chance at all under Pardew. I'm actually amazed he's achieved what he has this season give his leg break and the lack of opportunities given to him. I hope he goes off to a different side in the summer and plays well there because he deserves to, there's no point in him being here with Pardew managing him like he is. It sets a worrying precedent for our future style of play as well if we fail to accommodate one of the most technically gifted players in the league
-
Immense, take that Suarez. I actually feel sick looking at his teeth
-
How has the BBC site update made it even slower and shitter than ever before? Wank
-
Couldn't care less if his form dips in some games. So does everyone's form, it's just not as noticeable with some players who are not as gifted. He should be playing on the right, simple as that
-
Just a really sound guy in fairness who always tries to see things from everyone's perspective. But this one is an oversight
