Yeah, a league whether there's next to no Englishman in every team to bring out the 'weak Frenchies' argument. Not implying that nationality is a definite factor in more fight, more determination fwiw. Just that you have to take into account whether the players are allowed time to settle down and buy into the team ethos. Wenger has done a great job in this aspect for instance. In short, the new players have come in at a rough time and haven't really been allowed to bed into the team/league and that affects their performances rather than nationality per se being a factor. Given more time, they will come good.

Not the best example, Arsenal. They had a strong English backbone in their defence and the French chaps were allowed to assimilate into the team's work ethnics. Not excluding the fact that Wenger is way beyond what Pardew ever will be as a manager, and that helps in the integration of the foreign lads into the team.
  3. Ferguson must walk. He's already on a rolling contract. Thankfully we didn't give him an eight year deal while the record was achievable. Ah, alright we get it. Go pop your champagne for a little celebration while we drown in our tears.
  4. Just Fergie was going about beating that record. Rather a more remarkable team gets it tbh.
  5. JFT96. Man U can't beat the PL points record now.

And a better goal difference. Salt on wound if we go down on GD.

This. They might just find some remaining motivation to go out with a bang. Especially now the heavy weight of relegation is confirmed.
  8. Villa v Wigan. Yeah, but say Wigan win every game and get out of trouble. Say Villa lose every game (including the Wigan match), and one of QPR or Reading wins every game and improve goal difference....could they not stop up and send Villa down? I feel really thick as I still don't get it. Max QPR and Reading can get = 34 Villa win = 37 Wigan win = 35 Draw = Villa 35, Wigan 33 Mathematically impossible to catch them.
  9. Anyone seen enough of Ketsbaia's teams to know his playing approach?
  10. If they don't change their recruitment criteria, more than likely one of the candidates.
  11. Don't care what his passport says i just want the best man for the job, can be f*cking Korean for all i care. Oldtype will do a better job than Pardew.
  12. Imagine Zeman at the club man. The players won't know what hit them with the style shifting from one end of the spectrum to the other.
  13. who's that? Dragan Stojković http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragan_Stojkovi%C4%87 http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/876897/arsene-wenger-lines-up-dragan-stojkovic-as-arsenal-successor?cc=4716
  14. Get that Grampus Eight guy that Wenger raves about. Might just turn out to be a Wenger-lite and implement an exciting style of play at the club.
  15. His past managerial signings also hint of someone with PL experience and some PR skills, positive or otherwise (JFK). There definitely needs to be a fundamental change in the next managerial recruitment. I hope he recognises that it will mean paying more to get a manager who can get the best out of the players or in other terms his assets. It need not be the 7m needed to get a Wenger or Ferguson. 2 or 3m should get us a decent upgrade if we look carefully. Any increase in the wage bill will more than likely be offset by the monies from an improved league position anyway. There's no more room for the current penny-wise, pound-foolish approach.

Cisse RW, Sissoko #10, Cabaye 3rd CH, Tiote Advanced Mid, Shola RW, Bigirimana RM, Jonas everywhere.

His career so far has been made of a promising start at his clubs, followed by a spectacular collapse thereafter. Much like most matches we get - decent first half then the inevitable despair that follows in the 2nd. And yet some people still want him in extra time. Incredible.
  18. It needs to be visible mate, the lack of protest towards the manager at the match is shocking, given the state of affairs. Aye you're probably right, unfortunately. Just had to laugh when I saw the thread though. Like finding out you have a horrible disease and the doctor asking you if you'd like him to try and heal you. 3 doctors still advised no treatment though.
  19. Really surprised there hasn't been more noise made at SJP after a 6-0 trashing at home nor that at the loss to the mackems. The crowd needs to have their voices heard to send a message to the owner and the media. I only hope the Arsenal match will not be as muted.
  20. I was wondering about the 3 'yes' votes myself.
