Nah, they've made a decision based on this: 'At a meeting of the NTCA’s cabinet at Newcastle Civic Centre, North of Tyne mayor Jamie Driscoll claimed there were “economic ramifications that don’t stack up” on the site, which was sold by former Magpies owner Mike Ashley. The Labour mayor later told the LDRS: “There are a number of issues about the economic viability of this, should we be subsidising the nature of the project, the housing. "I know there is a big public story about Newcastle United and the possibility to expand – I don’t know whether this would actually impinge on that or not anyway, that is a question for architects and engineers. But we have decided that we are not going to support the scheme, on its own merits, with public money.” The move will come as a welcome relief to NUFC supporters hoping for more positive news at St James' Park on transfer deadline day and came just a few hours before the second leg of the League Cup semi-final against Southampton.'

As much as I love and adore Shearer and Sir Bobby, KK is a more pivotal individual in our history so it's about time that we recognise the bloke whether through a statue or renaming the East Stand after him.

Fingers crossed we can get this over the line.

Cheers! Hopefully we see movement on it this summer.

Does anyone know if there has been any communication between fan groups and the owners about changing the lettering on the East Stand?

Nah, no empathy with that mob whatsoever. Everything that has been said about our fanbase is actually true of them, but they've been given a free pass and it's ticked me right off, especially with the way they've gone on on Twitter over the last decade about our club. They deserve a relegation and a few seasons down there, can't see their arrogance coming down, but them and their mates the Mackems can have fun together.
  7. The riots that will ensue if they appoint Allardici again would be hilarious. I know people say he's got the knowhow to keep them up, but the toxicity of his appointment might be too much even for him.

Considering their sorry narrow minded home is the poster city for Brexit with all its lies, not hard to see that they have no shame in pushing this bullshit about Wor Flags.
  9. Not to mention that Rangers got Boumsong on a free, and made a tidy profit just 6 months later - bloody outrageous. The transfer was investigated over corruption, wasn't it? Can't remember what the final result was, but even if nothing was proven, clearly some fishy goings on.

What is it with them throwing stuff onto the pitch? Bunch of primal animals.
  11. I don't know if it's changed in the last hour, but I registered after the cutoff (after the draw was made), and I managed to get three tickets today.
  12. My dad's first job in the NHS happened to be at the RVI, so we were lucky enough to move to Newcastle from India in April 1998, followed by a year in South Shields when he worked at South Tyneside District. Moved around the country a fair bit during those early years, but we settled in Cheltenham. As you can imagine from growing up there, my accent is now far from what people expect from a Newcastle fan, so I have to keep justifying my support but it is what it is.
  13. In their next 9 fixtures, they have us, Man Utd (twice), Brighton, Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal. Outside bet to be in the doldrums come mid-March? Obviously Everton are my first choice to go down because of their fans, but I can’t stand the media bumming this lot get for their supposed ‘ultra’ scene and their high and mighty attitude and banner re our takeover. Not to mention all the crap they gave us about Pardew before he fucked them as well.
  14. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2023/01/15/chelsea-transfer-news-barcelona-assessing-legality-re-signing/ Newcastle's next kit sponsor Newcastle United have not signed a player in January but have been in talks off the pitch over a potential transfer. Adidas representatives watched the EFL Cup quarter-final win over Leicester City, amid interest from manufacturers in being the club’s next kit-makers following their Saudi Arabian investment and the club looking on the verge of success. Adidas made the kit during the Kevin Keegan era when they were last in the hunt for the Premier League title, and when Alan Shearer set the new record as the competition’s highest scorer.
  15. SJP is gonna be a bear pit for that second leg; last night was just a wee trailer.
  16. Home tie for the second game and Southampton; yeah I'll take this all night long.
  17. This lot are all over the shop at the back, reminds me of us towards the end of McClaren's reign.
