I don't say that you can't criticise, I just think comments like "Die slowly Pards!" are not very smart. The cup thing is worrying, especially for a club that has not won a thing for a while. It seems to me Pardew is just happy to meet minimum requirements to keep Ashley from sacking him. Sell some players, make some profit and do not get relegated.

I do not think he is a good manager. I think his teams play bad style of football, but reading this site gives you idea that we have been relegated four times on a row or something like that. Just saying that in a middle of all doom and gloom, we are still a strong premiership team with a chance to maybe make good a cup run or challenge for Europe. Our defence is still horrible and I think that is Pardew's biggest mistake. He is an old centrall defender who can't organize defence to save his like. Hopefully he gets the boot, but until then I will support this team no matter who is the manager.

Wigan, Portsmouth, Birmingham have all gone down but won summat as opposed to our usual winning f*ck all True. I stand corrected. Although still wouldn't swap with any of these teams at the moment.

How many teams that have went down in the last 10 years have done as well as NUFC? Correct answer. None. Winning away against ManU for the first time since 1971? or -72 can't remember. Anyway I don't know what you think is success, but I expect at least a top ten finish and a cup run. I fear we only have the first one. And that is a shame. But some of here think he can do nothing right. Which of course might be true. Wullie: I have been reading this site for many years, but bc I am not English by birth, it is a bit difficult to join. I don't think you would understand my Finnish anyway And like I said, I would kill for a manager like Martinez or Pocchettino. Attacking, positively thinking guys

That's one season you're talking about. Or do you think 12th, 16th, 10th is "pretty high up in the league"? Well, 10th is pretty decent considering the shambles that was the end of last season. We are doing fine untill Cabaye being sold. If I am not mistaken, got victory from Old Trafford and WHL? And we were relegated 6 years ago ffs It seems people here can't really come up with a decent argument. If first answer is "Christ Almighty" with a smiley, that doesn't really work if I am trying to argue about things. Like I said, I don't like the man, but Fat Mike is the one who should leave if you want ambition. Of course cups and negative tactics are Pardew's fault.

All them billionaire owners eh. If only we had one. Yea, Mike isn't actually spending any money. Of course I want to get rid of the c***, but just hope people would have realistic expectations. Seen many of our fans saying things "like we can break top5 now that we have Cabella" and bla bla. About his record last season, that is woeful for sure and needs to change. I think that if we are near bottom in December he will get the boot, those Christmas fixtures are a nightmare for us. And like I said Dave, I do not like the style we play and think we should hire more modern manager. But in terms of league positions, he has done pretty well. Those "48 points" comments are idiotic ofc. Ive not seen any comments about breaking top 5 or heard anyone say we should be breaking top 4 with cabella. I would however like us to aim for a european spot every season and try to improve our points total each season...oh and for a little bit of fun, try and play more expansive football now and then. Instead of sitting back and being worried about the other team. Maybe I have been on twitter and other forums too much The style worries me for sure. I almost 100% sure that we will sit back and counter with De Jong dropping a bit deeper from no 10 spot and starting counters for Cabella, Riviere, Aarons and Gouffran. That is a pacy front 3 anyway, and that maybe the reason Obertan is getting new chances. The problem is we can't defend for a bit so more 0-3/0-4 humiliations on the way, and the first goal too often kills us. I am just saying, that in then end we have been pretty high up in the league, especially if you look at the quality of football we are playing. I don't know how he does it or was it only because of Cabaye. This season will tell I guess.

I hate the playing style and hate the fact he plays players out of position and the treatment of Mapou/Hatem. Still, if you look at the funds made available for him by Mike it is ridicilous to say he has done badly in terms of league positions. Excluding the 12-13 season. We are at the moment club who should be between 6th-10th at the end of the season. And yes, I think we lack ambition but we are behind Arsenal, Mancsx2, Chelsea, City, Liverpool and Everton at the moment and I think no one can deny that.

Need a new CM also to create, score and keep hold of the ball more than 3 passes That midfield is strong enough. Problem is that Cisse is not fit and Riviere is unproven, but seems decent poacher. Centre-half is a problem area though.. But we need to sell 1 of the 4 before.. No it's not by a long way strong enough Strong enough for top8 I think. We might try to sign Grenier if he comes available, but without Europe (and cups lol) we have so few games we do not need more midfielders. Anita, Sissoko, Tiote, Colback and Abeid is what we got for 2 spots. You may say they are not good enough, but don't think we need so many CM when there is a clear weakness in CB. Strikers are a bit unproven, but then again we have Cisse, Ferreyra, Riviere and Perez fighting for one spot. Even with Obertan and Aarons I still think we need a winger before CM. We have one of the largest squads in the league, if you look contracts. Have to ship Jonas and co. out first.

Lacazette scores for Lyon. Screamer from half a yard.

Yeh he oozes confidence, intelligence and sensibility. Somehow he reminds me of Bergkamp. -
Shefki is managing a team in Finnish top division. Got him send to stands couple of times this season..

After De Jong arrival, we probably won't play with a Cabaye type deep lying playmaker. De Jong as a no 10 and 2 defending midfielders. Counter attacking football and 4-4-1-1 it seems.
-
Depends, 3 at the back is wasting if the opposition is playing with one striker. So we could use this against City, or Liverpool maybe.. edit. Don't have players for it tho
-
Can already see the defensive sub Colback/Anita on and De Jong off. And Riviere or Cisse or whoever is the striker is left totally isolated.
-
Anita and Colback have the legs to cover though, if they are played as the left sided CM.
-
It will just be "I can confirm Newcastle have not made a bid for Andy Carroll"

I think Clasie would be a good buy for ManU. Need a good holding midfielder anyway

Germans pressing has been quite impressive, so I think they will stick to it. With Di Maria out, Argies midfield is not very good with the ball anyway. So fullbacks forward and push Argies wide players down. If Lavezzi and Aguero don't track back they are very vulnerable down the flanks. Messi seems too tired to defend anyway, so if he defends as lazily as before it leaves Schweinsteiger open to control the game. Argentina have a great defense, but can't look past Germany. They have been ruthless going forward.
-
Argies relying too much on Messi and Di Maria. May be enough to win this, but won't win this WC
-
Chile really didn't have many opportunities that is true, worrying for you was the fact Sanchez won quite a few aerial battles. You can still win the whole thing, but you are not even close of reaching your potential. Good thing is Scolari seems to drop Paulinho, who has been awful. Fernandinho should start, and is Gustavo suspended from the QF? I seem to remember him getting a yellow yesterday.

If he's out they don't have much of a chance IMO. He's not going to be out, he's no doubt, it's just mind games. He's got a swollen thigh. For all the diving people talk about Neymar he's been standing on his feet quite well this tournament which has resulted in plenty of naughty challenges. The one by Aranguiz early in the game which caused the injury deserved a yellow. People said the same about Spain last World Cup. Beat Portugal 1-0, almost went out to Paraguay before showing up in the semi-finals. People don't give credit where it's due. For all the praise Chile gets, Julio Cesar made ONE (!!) save all game. We're playing extremely poor, but advancing which gives us time to make it right. We've played decent and organized teams, which all put that extra shift in to be the team to beat the hometeam. I'm not defending this team fwiw, there's no defending for the showing we've put on. Only Neymar, David Luiz, Luiz Gustavo and Julio Cesar gets praise from me for the World Cup this far, but we've conceded 3 goals, all from mistakes, none of them were normal goals which tells me if we cut the mistakes out we shouldn't even draw the game. Yea but cutting out mistakes is the hard part of defending man. Spain during 08-12 period controlled games throughout, and their strikers poor form or use of false nine meant they really didn't score that much. Problem with this Brazil is that you can break quickly on the counter, but like Spain you have no quality striker and the burden to score goals lies on Neymar and set pieces. He is good but not that good. Chile have been positive but their problem for a long time has been scoring. They really didn't have skills to break the Netherland nor Brazil yesterday. But when they win the ball back it's their moment. Like against you yestarday and against Spai for the first goal. You sat back loooong times and just consumed the pressure. Works against Chile, won't work against Germany, or Messi. Columbia will let you keep the ball I would guess. And fwiw, I have bet for Brazil to win this WC. Doesn't look good I would say.
-
Brazil has been poor. Can't see how they can beat the Argies nevermind the Germans. One man team up front and Scolari hasn't found a right XI. Hulk was ok yesterday, but other than that he has been poor. And still he managed to get an assist to Chile's goal. There is a good chance Cuadrado and Rodriguez will run riot against that defence.
