Usually, when you are playing as a winger, it´s your job to follow the fullback if he advances. If you are not doing that, it usually mean 2 v 1 situation on your flank. That's Pardew's fault for playing a flat 442, he's not a winger in a traditional sense so doesn’t have the same tendencies. He was great as a Right Forward in a 433 because of the reasons mentioned many times before and the fact he didn't need to hold his full backs hands. I genuinely wonder who impersonated Pardew during that month as it clearly wasn't him. Even in a 4-3-3 a wide forward should defend. Mourinho's system is often a lot like 4-3-3 and you see Hazard and Willian especially tracking back. Of course at his best Hatem was superb going forward, but that was just too rarely to justify his lack on defending. Even Cisse and Ba defended when Pardew put them on the wing. Don't get me wrong, I like the fella. Just that him leaving was maybe also his own fault as much as the clown Pardew. edit. His best goal for me was the Bolton home game. Great run and cool finish. Even better than against Blackburn

TBH Brighton board wasn't really helpful. IIRC there were lots of injuries and only bough Bent late on. Still, we should get better.

Always important to simultaneously not mark the players nor close down the ball nor rush back too quickly. How one player got round the back of our defence, totally unmarked and another simultaneously got through our central defence, totally unmarked, is absolutely astonishing. You can see Dummet's vulnerability in that screenshot. Planted and totally unaware. Gouffran no where near. But we still should have been okay. For Rooney to get past Colo with absolutely no effort is f***ing infuriating. Look how far away from the 6 yard line he is there. Colo in front of him with nothing else to do but stop that one man. f***ing pathetic. 3 men looking at one player. Janmaat is at fault too, like. Sissoko was running next to Rooney but somehow decided to stop and jog back when Rooney charged to box. Just seemed not to care. No idea where Colback is tho.

Quite often to a player in a red shirt yesterday. Can´t win the possession, positiones himself oddly (so did Colback too thou) and giving away possession cheaply. Played one good ball to Perez in the 2nd half iirc. Sissoko was at fault for the first goal though

Arsenal need a replacement for Flamini/Arteta. Defensive midfielder who can tackle. They have midfield runners enough already

Sissoko is not helping at all in the midfield. Threat going forward but should help Tiote and Colback more.

Gouffran is doing absolutely nothing when we are attacking. He just watches when Cabella or Perez has the ball, no movement and doesnt want the ball.

Situation with Hatem is more sad when the thing we exactly need atm is a left footed right winger. Janmaat is so isolated there when Gouff plays on the wing. Or wherever he plays cause he is not helping at all going forward

Gouffran right wing and Perez behind Cisse it looks like. Will get overrun in the middle but not a surprise.

Zogbia was good for us 05/06 under Souness tho

Worked just as well as it did when he brought Meyler on for his only striker at our place and conceded the equaliser within 5 minutes. Thick as f***ing mince, the loathsome fat slug. he's basically f***ed their shape completely, and conceding any chance of them being able to break out, thick as f***. As much as I like Hatem, he didn't do much today. The team is poor though, don't think defensive Hull team has a need for him. Bruce is too much like Pardew.

You can see by the amount of runs he make that he has got superb confidence atm. Great performance. Still think he doesn't work well in a midfield 2 unless there is a very defensive and hard working fella next to him. This game he defended well, but in truth QPR was poor going forward. Great performance

TBH that was a good ball from Gouffran. Hasn't done anything else of note though.
