Just naming another substitute who scored a winning goal against us. I'd have counted Cisse's goal against West Brom if I'd noticed he didn't start btw which is similar to Moore's inclusion. I still don't think that's a manager changing the game and I doubt the Swansea fans were praising him for doing it, well only doing it tongue in cheek perhaps. I am sure they won't be looking back at the end of the season and talking warmly about Laudrup's excellent decision to bring on Moore anyway Same as we wont about Cisse against West Brom. They took off a midfielder and brought on a striker who then scored. It was an awful goal from an awful player but it's 1-0 and 3 points.

Against us just in 2013*, Giroud scored 2 within 15 mins to kill the game off, Anichebe scored the winner after 2 mins on the pitch, Le Fondre scored 2 vital/winning goals within 10 mins of coming on and Moore scored the winner on the weekend. Shola against QPR and Ba against Everton are the only 2 point winners I can think of for us all season in that vein. *give or take a few days. Not so much Anichebe, but I'm sure if Pardew had a striker of Giroud's ability to come off the bench up front, he'd do the same. In fact, I'd even take Anichebe and Le Fondre over Shola on the bench. That's true, but you've got to get the most out of what you've got. We just seem to throw Shola on, stick Cisse on the wing and hope for the best.

The thread does tell otherwise. We did play well(apart from some defensive issues and not managing to score) and we lost. Still people slate him. It was out 14th defeat in 28 games. "But we played well" means nothing if we keep losing. Swansea away is hardly the easiest fixture now is it? Wouldn't you agree that there has been a vast improvement in results and performances since the new arrivals? If all the signs point to him turning around the situation in recent weeks, why should we get rid of him now? Yes, the new arrivals have helped paper over the Pardew shaped chasm for a few games. We're still 15th though and 6 points off 18th so let's not act as if we're flying up the league.

Agreed, it would be insane to have more than 2 capable strikers. Lets stop throwing players at the bloke! Are people seriously expecting options from the bench? Do we think we are Man City or something!!? Swansea brought on Luke Moore They've won a cup and are 8th btw. They also have Michu who has scored about 3 times as many as Cisse, in fact the player they let go in January would be putting up a good fight to start for us right now. Our forward option (no s) off the bench is Shola Ameobi. Not sure how anyone can seriously say we don't need to buy 'even more' players as if our forward line is already well stocked. Wayne Routledge is their joint second highest scorer in the league. Outside of Michu, their most prolific striker is Luke Moore who scored his first goal yesterday. If we need to keep buying players to see results (or goals in this case) then maybe squad depth isn't the issue (it definitely isn't). We created two really good chances for our forwards yesterday, they didn't take them. Cisse has missed a number of good chances this season also. How is not having someone else we can bring in not a problem? I like Marveaux but he isn't exactly a goalscorer so we are left with Shola? You've gone from "we need more strikers" to "strikers aren't even that important" in that post 10 minutes ago. As you've pointed out, other managers can get goals from players other that their main striker so why can Pardy? Because we don't have a Walcott, Bale, Mata etc.. in the squad? Is Pardew failing because he hasn't managed to get players who have never scored many goals in their careers suddenly putting away as many as the leagues good forwards? He has certainly managed to get Sissoko chipping in with his fair share, I assume this is another example of a player ignoring Pardew's instructions and doing his own thing though. Only Walcott, Bale and Mata level players can score goals. I agree with that. Maybe if we didn't play with 2 defensive midfielders at all times we might create and score more goals? Getting players into the box when a cross comes in would lead to more goals but they can't as they're on the halfway line waiting to do some tackling. Letting a genuinely creative attacking midfielder in Marveaux on the pitch would also help our attacking prospects but ner how.
