Come on, man There's worse teams above us and they've been there all season. I've seen on here many times that Pardew gets the most out of squad players but this season has disproved that completely.

When Ferguson finished 11th and 13th with Man Utd... did that prove he would never be a top manager? I am interested to know what formula you use. He won loads before he went there. These examples never hold up. He'd won a lot in Scotland - yes. Not sure how that makes the example irrelevant. I'm just intrigued to know how a bad season from Pardew 'proves' he won't be a top manager. This season 'proves' nothing. It's a nonsense statement. Ferguson won the Cup Winners Cup and The Super Cup with Aberdeen (plus much more) which would buy him time at Man Utd. Compared to the 1 Football League Trophy win in Pardew's 15 year career it's like night and day. I think the main point was that whenever Pardew does well with a team it always seems to backfire the next season and this season is yet another example of that. You can't be a top manager without consistency.

The top teams are up there there for a reason though. Whatever they do is effective and leads to consistently good results. We're down the bottom because what we're doing isn't working for the most part and a good manager would have hopefully adapted in some way months ago. We've definitely got the best squad outside the top 6 now so I expect much better performances on the pitch regardless of the result (to a degree).
  5. Why couldn't we have got Hannover The Flasher will not be denied though.
  6. If we had far worse teams below us it didn't show as we've consistently given them points all season.

Posts like this always make me snigger. People seem to think that managing a massive Premiership club is like a walk in the park. Just play 433, lump all the flair players on, set mentality from control to overload when behind or not winning, but whatever you do, never go back. Simples. FM has a lot to answer for. Definitely agree with this but on the other hand football is nowhere near as complicated as some try to make out. Southampton would have spent all week (maybe even 2 weeks) watching our videos and making intricate plans to take us down then we score a wonder goal, a penalty and get an own goal.
  8. Depends who you listen to..... is he great player? yes is he top 4 or 5 in the world like media go on? no. He's certainly not in the top two like they go on but top 5? I'm struggling to think of many better. Yep. I can think of 5 from Barca and Madrid alone who is better, maybe in current form but current form is relative. And the book is always better than the film

  10. You're doing it all wrong. I thought you were a good gambler because you won a s*** load last year but the more I see it, the more it seems that you just lucked out by betting on teams that you like. We and Real did brilliantly last year so you made a lot of money. We and Real have been s*** this year so you've lost a s*** load of money. That's not a sign of a good gambler. It's a sign of a regular Joe fan who likes to bet on his teams. You should have done what dinho said and bet on no more goals. That's what a gambler betting for money would have done. It seems that you just bet on teams that you like and you don't evaluate why things haven't gone as expected. I mean, Madrid must have cost you a thousand Euros this year yet you still bet big on them. Likewise with Newcastle. If you're going to do that then bet what you can afford to lose and just have a good time like most people on the forum. But if you want to bet for money then I suggest you chill out a bit and seek out good odds, even if it means betting against a team that you like. It's not fun seeing people throw away hundreds of Euros without thinking. Agree. I see this has been disregarded already. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,77688.msg3783034.html#msg3783034 And this.
  11. No goalkeeper can accurately kick a rolling ball. It's just one of those unexplainable things. Without having seen it again, I thought he could have done much better with the second. Throwing himself on the floor was stupid when he could have just used his feet and that's a pet hate of mine if you were wondering.
  12. And cash reserves of £420m WAT? Imagine the banter on here if that was us. We've still spent pennies compared to a lot of other teams...
  13. Kharkiv was nowhere near as bad as some were making out. At least they've got some war stories to tell their friends though...

It's probably a coincidence that we're doing much better just after we bought 4/5 seemingly fantastic players. The last 6 months of absolute shite have just been a mere blip. I still don't think we've turned the corner yet either ftr. Our current situation is like Forrest Gump being given a box of Rubik's cubes.
  15. Can't remember a transfer window where we've bought so much quality, with the lack of outlay being a massive bonus. There's so much potential in this team under a good manager
  16. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Newcastle-Hatem-Ben-Arfa-must-raise-his-game-to-get-back-into-the-side-warns-Alan-Pardew-article844720.html The "didn't use him on Saturday" bit refers to the Swansea 0-0, a game where Shola, Sammy and Vuckic came off the bench.
  17. I remember Pardew saying Hatty's "stats weren't good enough" or some such nonsense as the reason why he wasn't getting picked.
  18. We might get the weekly retirement/holiday speech tonight
  19. Ben Arfa has been retrained as a modern winger which means he needs to do as much defending as he does attacking. Hatem now fits into a "box" which is the main thing these days. Any kind of maverick, unpredictability in players like him need to be controlled and zombified as soon as possible. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bj277ieBuBM/T-VOChFYJ-I/AAAAAAAAEj8/LtqlaA6ezSo/s1600/Jack-Nicholson-One-Flew-Over-the-Cuckoos-Nest.jpg
  20. He will have next to nothing on his contract by then and thus we will get sod all for him, even if he does turn out to be injury prone i'd rather get him signed and protect the investment. He would have 18 months left if he stays fit from Southampton till next January, by which time he could have played about 30 consecutive games.
  21. He's started 37 games in nearly 3 years and that's a serious concern regardless of what his injuries were. I wouldn't be giving S.Taylor a new contract without improvements either ftr.
  22. I'd wait and see if we can get him starting more than 20 league games both this and next season before giving him a new contract.
  23. Likewise. It feels like I'm missing something but in there I've got my passport, toon top, toon scarf, quite a few warm things, change of footwear, toiletries, things for the plane, money and well, that's it. Someone else in the group has the tickets, bookings and confirmation papers. Apart from my thermals, it feels like I've taken more away for short weekends. I'm a bit bored of waiting now like. Just 8 hours in work then s*** gets real! Travel light is my rule. If it doesn't fit in my pockets I'm not taking it, especially as it's only a few days away from home.
