We shouldn't really have expected any kind of stability in the summer due to the fact that we're certainly the most unpredictable club in England. Going from 5th to relegated the next year is about right for us. Even getting that 5th was completely out of the blue. I love this club

What's his reported wage? Quite a few places were saying he was going to get £60k at Liverpool so (if you believe that) it's probably similar here.
-
Marveaux has only been good for 1 month out of 18 and even that's being quite kind. I can see why we'd let him go, especially if his reported wages are to be believed.

Wat? instead of playing to ba's strengths we can play to the teams strengths which will benefit colo, cabaye, ben arfa, cisse. not sure about the krul bit mind. Can't wait till this is debunked. why ? Because I'm sick of reading about how Ba is the/a cause of our horrible season. For it to be debunked, we'd have to have a worse 2nd half of the season than we've just had. Which will mean we're relegated. So you'd rather you were right than us stay up? I'd rather our dear manager found/used a formation that benefited our best players instead of hoping our top scorer leaves. Might just be me though. Yeah, but you just said you are looking forward to it being debunked. Which suggests you are looking forward to it not working, us getting relegated and you being proven right. The manager is holding us back, not Ba. I've put it in very plain English for you, Sew Sew.

Not that I agree with the whole Cisse was suffered, playing for selfish Ba stuff but I really hope whatever we do works out for the team. Same here, but I've so little faith in the manager that taking our only goalscorer out the team will only cause us to struggle even more. He was keeping us afloat and there's massive pressure on Cisse to do similar now.

Didn't the "We're vulnerable to bids for Tiote" stuff start up again when Ba's clause had supposedly expired last Summer? It certainly gathered pace in the last month of the window.

He'd scored 16 by February last year then got pushed out onto the wing (where we've learned from Cisse you can't possibly score from ). He'd have had 4 more in 4 months in his favourite position. He's got 13 by January this season and would definitely have had/will have 7 more in the next 5 and a half months. And the selling club stuff is true as they've barely paid a transfer fee without it being paid for by someone else. But that isn't what "selling club" means. Selling players to pay for our incoming transfers? I fully expect the "We're vulnerable to bids for Tiote" stuff to start the second Ba is out the door btw.

Would people rather we went out and paid over the odds for a playersjust to show we aren't a selling club. We tried that before and it nearly finished the club. I heard this a lot during the Summer. There IS a happy medium between spending well into an overdraft and buying the players we need.

And a new right back. Other than that there's no positives.

Nolan didn't want to be on the bench btw.
-
He's scored 13 goals in a team fighting relegation for no reason. Others will be getting itchy feet too and it's hard to blame them.
-
Which would be fair enough considering it's Chelsea, but even if he did only move for money, wouldn't you? Multiple clubs appear to be willing to pay him what he wants, so he's obviously worth it. Point your blame at Ashley, not Ba. If he's replaced I'm not sure there's any 'blame' to be dished out is there? We signed a striker on a free who had a 1 in 2 scoring record for us and we've ended up getting a fee for him. As football goes that's a pretty good bit of business. How on earth did we manage that?! Good business would be keeping that 1in 2 striker and maximising the gains of said free transfer. But we do need a right back...

Why do people always result to using words like 'magic' and 'automatically' when it comes to stuff like this? What does suggest that Cisse will be every bit as good as competent as Ba if he's deployed in his correct position, is his scoring record. Magic's got nowt to do with it. Cisse has played in the centre but struggled. This is why people are probably concerned. Maybe Cisse can only score if he is up top on his own which is fair enough if he does find his feet again but it's a risk to sell your leading scorer whilst hoping the one remaining who hasn't been in form finds it as soon as the other has left. We aren't really in a position to gamble imo, I know people have said 'well we aren't playing great as it is so why not!?' but we would be in a much bigger mess without Ba's goals if Cisse hadn't hit the ground running. We don't have a choice though Cajun. If Chelsea are indeed in for him he's gone, and I wouldn't even begrudge him it. What is really concerning is we are again at the mercy of tight arse Ashley, who has a record for gambling when it comes to transfer dealings, or more accurately, lack thereof. He's had that clause in the contract since day 1 and we've not tried very hard to remove it, despite him being a 1 in 2 striker. We haven't? How do you know? Because he's leaving due to that clause. Quite an obvious answer.

He's (apparently) going to the current European Champions and a team firmly in the title race and he's still greedy?

I thought we were over trying to add 20+20 to get 40 goals a season. If only it were that simple... Have we not yet arrived at the conclusion that Ba and Cisse aren't comparable as a strike partnership? How often do wingers and strikers form an effective striker partnership? The only reason they're not playing together is because our dear manager doesn't know how to make it work so he throws one out wide. Correct me if I'm wrong, but i understand they rarely play together for Senegal either. No idea about any of that but they've had a year together here and haven't both played as in the box strikers very much, if at all. You can't build a striker partnership with 1 striker.

One in one out works for the the teams at the top

The timing and matching fees are probably a coincidence then. Like all the other times. Nowt to do with it being nearly January of course. We wouldn't have agreed a fee for this lad already if Ba wasn't half way out the door. All the other transfer windows have been forgotten

"One of our two 20 goal a season strikers had to go" ffs.
