I think the positive thing is, we have either looked quality, fairly comfortable or been in every CL game so far. Barca we were good for 0-30, then again near the end. USG we battered and it was easy as you like. Benfica could and should have been more. Athletic Bilbao wasn't the best performance and they had loads missing. But it was still fairly routine bar a sloppy first 10 and last 15-20 or so. Marseille was an open, fun game for the neutral. A shit 5 minutes and an outrageous decision from Pope cost us. Along with some wasteful finishing. Getting annoyed just thinking about us chucking the game away. The next two games suddenly look a lot harder based on recent results. But I think we have more than enough to nick a draw in Germany and beat PSV at home. PSG we'll get fuck all. But we just need to go into that game not needing anything.

He hasn't lost that deceptive speed, at least. I'm not surprised defenders always think they are getting to the ball or that they can go with him. As he doesn't look like he is getting there. But then he always seems to. He is fucking rapid when he gets going and he has room to run. I'm not suggesting we should. But if we are going to keep playing 3 at the back and use the 3-4-2-1 at times this season. Then at least he has a position. Especially if it is going to be in games where we are looking to counter and have a lot less of the ball.

Based on that 8 minute video. I'd imagine plenty of clubs that can offer more in wages and have more prestige, will be in for him. He looks like the complete midfielder. He could nutmeg a mermaid.

He shouldn’t be hounded out. But if we could get a reasonable fee for him. Then I wouldn’t be sad to see him go. Not really sure what he’d be worth in the current market or who would even be in for him, mind? Actually, I would be sad in a way. As it would be a shame that it didn’t fully work out for him here. As he had a long spell of looking brilliant for us and worked like a trojan. Carried the team for a season. If we were to sell him. We’d need to reinvest the money more wisely on a wide man this time. Not another Elanga or Gordon type.

His ability and form for the best part of a year. Are not really worthy of playing for a team challenging for titles and the Champions League, mind.

Shows how hard it is to get a good keeper in. Everyone on here wanted Marmaduke and were raving about him. Every Liverpool fan I know thinks he’s been average to shit. Not easy to come in and play close to Alisson’s levels. But he’s been nowhere near that.

I don’t think Barnes has ever had a long enough run in the side to end up getting pelters. Not when he is so clearly out of form and has been consistently playing so badly, anyway. I’m sure it would turn soon enough. I’m one of Gordon’s harshest critics on here. So not much point me adding anything to the pile on. But his confidence looks lower than Starmer’s approval rating. I’m not sure what the answer is. But playing him every week when fit, even when he looks so out of sorts, isn’t really working.

I think Howe will want height in the team against these. So expect Pope to keep his place, Burn and Joelinton to start. Hopefully not 5 at the back and I’d like to see Miley or Ramsey/Willock get a start. Bruno and Tonali can’t keep doing 90 every game for club and country.

I have no issues with the sweeper keeper thing. It is a big part of how we play and it has worked more than it hasn’t. When it doesn’t. Well…… it’s spectacularly bad You could see 10-20 yards away he wasn’t getting there. I know it’s high risk/high reward. But that was painful. Like watching a car crash in slow motion.

So infuriating. I get that when you play like that. You’ll get made to loom a mug now and then. Worked well v Haaland. As it put him off and you need to close him early. But that was nearly Liverpool bad. Could have even brought him down and avoided a red due to Thiaw covering. Retreated and made the finish harder. Shepherded him wider. Did none of the above. I don’t want to trash one of our players and I think he has brought more good than bad, 100%. People on here know I have a bit of a connection to the family. But I think he needs to come out the side now. Fans are getting sick of the mistakes and rightly so. Still not the worst thing he did all game. That free kick at the end was more dubious

Hard one to take that. Played pretty well for the most part. But another defeat away. What the fuck Pope was doing for the first and Schar and Burn for the second, I don’t know. Decent forward play from A-boomerang, TBF. Hurts more when you lose after putting in a good performance.

Quality half in a weird way. Wide open at times. But should have scored 3. Willock has been brilliant.
