Club policy means we'll never have a proper team and it'll always be a case of individuals playing to get moves to more ambitious clubs. That's what happens when your transfer policy is based on signing young Foreign players with the promise that they'll be shipped on to bigger clubs (at a nice profit to NUFC) should they be a success here. You can never build proper team spirit based on that formula and I genuinely believe that's why we go on these ridiculous losing runs and don't bother turning up for the Derby games these days, put simply there's no motivation and "leaders" are no longer allowed in the dressing room. In Thauvins case, best case scenario for him is he's a hit here and in a couple of years ends up at Arsenal, Man Utd etc, worst case he goes back to one of the bigger clubs in France if it doesn't work out. He's probably not too bothered either way. I think you can if you have the right leadership in place. You need a strong, vocal captain and good, respected manager.

The shittest defence in the league and no proven goalscorer in the entire squad and you're still at it, man. Give over. Aye - the game can be this simple. Solid defence + goals = decent team. Crap defence + no goals = crap team. This is us. Or we could try dropping a defensive midfielder and playing a more attacking formation considering we do have some assets in that department like De Jong, Wijnaldum, Perez, Sissoko etc. I agree we should try. But having more defensive responsibilities isn't likely to make the likes of Sissoko or Gini (i'm assuming you want us to try at least one if not both at CM) more dangerous or creative. And it won't help us defend better. We need to do something but nothing screams out as a good balance because the squad doesn't have it. That's where they've played their whole careers until they came here. We bought them on the back of their outstanding performances in the centre and then decide we'd rather play them on the wings. It's stupid.

You can't point to Pardew, McClaren and Carver and say none of them could get it right, it must be the players fault. Two sacked by lower league clubs and one who's not even a manager (although his Microsoft Office skills are impressive). If we'd appointed Pardew plus two good managers and still been shit then maybe you'd have a point but the fact is we've appointed three shit managers and been shit. Big surprise. While i'd love to see him get sacked asap it's really not going to happen. He's mates with Carr and on the board so that's 50% of our board who'll be in his corner. Bob will just concur with the others and Charnley is a spineless little lickspittle. It was (another) stupid appointment that we went for because he was cheap, desperate and mates with the head scout. Pathetic way to run a football club.

He's ridiculously limited like. He can trap it and then hoof it or pass it short (requires extra concentration) and that's pretty much it. He's like a player off the early nintendo games where you only had two buttons to control it. He's played a big part in us still having a clean sheet today mind. Some good blocks. Aye, I do think he can do alright defensively, maybe lacks a bit of pace but he's never a fullback as he just has none of the skills required going forward. He should be at CB really if he's going to play, he's generally looked better there anyway imo.

That's the problem with playing without real wingers like, Gini could have roasted the full back there and got in an early cross but chose to cut inside instead. We could really use some proper width at least on one side.
