  1. Proof if it was needed that we should keep AP away from transfers Can't see Mike going for this.

As I remember he was the ringleader of the drinking culture at the club at the time. From my point of view it seems Ferguson was cutting the head off the snake and the rest of the squad fell into line pretty quickly after that.
  3. I just think it'd be a backwards step for us to sign him. At £15m I bet Carr could get two or three decent players who will improve us more than Carroll. Yes, he might suit our particular brand of hoofball but in my opinion the solution is not to sign someone who will allow us to play more effective hoofball, it's to stop playing hoofball.

Was that from day one though? It seems Di Canio has gone in there with all guns blazing, spouting off in the media to anyone who'll listen, which is probably the biggest mistake I think... making all this public. Yes, he famously got rid of the best central defender I've seen due to his drinking , very early in his Manchester United career. Big difference between a drinking problem which will likely be affecting not only performances on the pitch but other squad members too and not signing some club tat.

Ferguson's style seems very different to PDC though. I can't imagine Fergie just going out and looking for every little excuse to bollock and fine his players. They may have got the hairdryer treatment on occasion but it was generally justified. Fining players 2 weeks wages for being a bit late or not signing some memorabilia is absurd. He's just picking fights to try and enhance his own reputation as a disciplinarian. Basically, Ferguson would be hard for the good of the team, Di Canio does it for the glorification of Paolo.

Swansea at SJP was the pinnacle of his baffling substitutions for me. Swapped a winger for a target man who then had nobody to supply him crosses. He outdid himself then by bringing on Bigi for Simpson when we were trailing 0-1 with Anita moving to left back and Santon moving over to right back. Seemed as bizarre as it was pointless.

  8. Only 860 pages til we get Christmas Tree off the front page.
  9. He was superb. Reminded me very much of Solano in his playing style in that he didn't have much pace or trickery but had a great brain and the vision and passing ability that more than made up for it. Those two could both strike a ball so sweetly and with such curl that the opposition had no chance whether it was a keeper defending a free kick or a full back trying to stop a cross.
  10. I can't believe people are complaining about him giving out bonuses to the club staff. Nice gesture imo.
  11. Most footballers are cocks man. He did alright for us but is ultimately limited as a footballer. Been professional about everything and never gave less than 100%. He's like Best, goes with my thanks and best wishes.
  12. you know there's a reason he's not played the past few games? Yep, Pards is going to discover powers of motivation the likes of which have never been known to man. He will heal the sick with his words, he will feed and clothe the poor. Moussa will walk again and score and we will all bask in the glory of Arsenal defeated.
  13. Fuck pardew we're still Newcastle united with or without him. Get at them, get sjp jumping and give us some hope.
  14. HTL. Lets exit this shite season with something to cheer at least. 4-0 home win, Ben Arfa (2), Cisse, Sissoko

  16. Was thinking about this and the lessons they might have learnt from this season and I honestly believe that part of our problem with the EL was that we kept chopping and changing and almost putting out 2 different teams for PL and EL games. Winning is a habit and through winning games you build confidence and momentum within the team. Perhaps if we'd sent out our first team for each match and dished out a few drubbings to the likes of Atromitos, Maritimo and Benfica (jotenko ) we might have had something to build on throughout the season. I guess my point is that I hope he's learned that we should be going out to win every game we play with our strongest 11. Stop telling the players they're tired, let them get a rhythm with a settled 11 (barring injuries) and get some confidence and belief going.

Would you sack Pardew if we won our first game of next season and didn't drop out of the top 5 all year....assuming the style of football remains....workmanlike. Ifs and buts and all that but yes, I would. I do not believe he is the right man to take us forward as a club. Not only in terms of the first team squad, I don't believe he has the ability and knowledge required to run this football club.

All these stats are doing is proving how worthless statistics taken in isolation are. We're not fucking stupid and we have eyes. You can pull stats out of your arse until the cows come home, it doesn't change what i've seen with my own two eyes the last 2 years.
  20. This season must have been a wake up call to a lot of people at the club. Hopefully they've learned a lesson and next season we'll see the squad firing on all cylinders like we believe they can.

Lot of empty seats, is that the mackem rounders team or did everyone just top themselves out of boredom?

Pardew is a prick. I've never liked him. It was a sad day for me when he was appointed. We replaced one average manager with another average manager, but at least the last one was likeable. People are getting very worked up over ousting the bloke...so we can get another middle of the road jouneyman in to peddle mediocrity. What's the point in that? Do you not have a little spark of hope that the next one might be good?

If this isn't true Ikon needs to be sent to a sunderland strip club with his eyelids glued open as punishment.

I think you're spot on there. Ferguson had his time at Aberdeen, Moyes at Preston, Wenger managed over in Japan for a while as I remember. Even O'Neill (as shit as he was in his later years, he was decent when he was younger) did his time at Wycombe and Leicester.

He happily ignores the fact that a lot of those british managers are simply serial relegators on the jobs for the boys gravy train. British managers will succeed if they're good enough. Fergie, Moyes, Bobby, KK, Steve Clarke (ok, not a big job but he's early in his career and getting plaudits). Then look at the rest of the candidates, Pardew, Bruce, Hughes, McLeish, Allardyce, Kean, Souness et al. Nobody would want those jokers managing their club. In fact, i'd take an unknown foreign manager over any single one of them simply because I know they're shit managers whereas the unknown foreign guy has a chance of being decent at least.
