I seen Maxi play as a striker against Cambridge and that was more than enough for me. As Howe has said, Wood is very good tactically - something you or I won't notice as much as coaches/analysts etc. He's a terrible finisher, no debate about that, but he done a job for us (at an inflated price). Won't be sad to see him go though. Would hope we have someone lined up before letting him go.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League
Chicken Dancer replied to Rich's topic in Football
It's easy to forget we are only half way, but our home form/fixtures do give me huge confidence we can pull this off. I still think the owners will twist this month and we will see a summer signing brought forward to give everyone a lift and inject some quality into the squad. Just like last season, I think going out in the 3rd rd of FA Cup will be a blessing, as painful as it is. What will be interesting is if we go a stretch of 2/3 games with poor results how we react, but the next few games look kind on paper and definitely an opportunity to build a bit of a gap. If we can get 7pts from our next 3, that Liverpool game at 17:30 (hopefully before a cup final) will be fucking rocking. If we can put a double digit points gap between us and them that day, I don't see them catching us. Spurs I would worry about if they bin Conte and get a bounce, but we can definitely do them up here. Bring it on. -
God help us if we win the semi! The demand for tickets at Wembley will be like nothing that stadium has seen before, and that's not even being hyperbolic. Obviously I don't know the facts, but I can bet there isn't many other clubs around the world who has such demand for home & away tickets as we have recently. There will be the odd few (Liverpool I bet is high demand) but a lot of their tickets are sold to 'day-tripper' types. I'd wager 95% + of ours are from actual supporters. The current demand coupled with the fact we've never been to Wembley for a cup game for 23 years (never to the 'new' one for cup game) - I honestly think we could quite easily sell out Wembley by ourselves. Easy.

I think if we get to the final and there is strikes people would walk if needed The Jarra march all over again. I'm being serious too. I bet there's coach companies in the North East who are praying for us to get to the final + there be strikes, and I can hardly blame them after they would have basically lost 18/24 months of income during COVID.

The Trust would do fuck all, as usual, unless it directly benefitted on of the board members. Fully agree though. I think L7 would be the only feasible option for the club though, basically where it used to be from 08-10. I noticed a fair few people standing up there yesterday from my seat.

Crystal Palace vs. Newcastle United: 21/01/23 @ 5:30pm - Live on Sky

Ahh don’t get me wrong it’s a complete dive but I’d much rather watch a match there or other more traditional grounds than these new flatpack ones in industrial estates. Plus that bit outside of the away end is mint. -

That fella from the food bank speaks so well. Definitely a trophy for me, although I think we can do both (Bruno dependent) -

Going to this. Love Selhurst, pure throwback. I will warn you all, my away record in London ; P11 W0 D1 L10. The point was at the Emirates of all places. November 2006. -
Jesus, that game seems like a lifetime ago.

Shit that’s crazy. Who was it? Honestly can’t remember the last time we conceded at SJP
-
I always think like this. For example the 96 'It's coming Home' talks about 30 years of hurt in reference to 1966. The fucking 1996 song is almost 30 years old now Absolutely rank.

I'm so, so shocked at this.... They're probably gutted that people have actually realised what it is now, and most likely the reason why there isn't more engagement from more members.
-
They done ST holders and members who'd been to the cup games, which I think what we should do. It may mean I miss out and wouldn't necessarily be in my best interests but I think it's the fairest. People will always want the option that suits them best - human nature and all that - but it's probably wise we cross this bridge when it comes and focus on beating Southampton first.
-
Can definitely see where you're coming from, although I suppose most members these days attend as many games as ST holders at SJP, and pay more over the season. ST should definitely be at the top of the queue alongside members with purchase history - again, just my opinion, but it would make it pretty fair. I can't see how it would be fair that a ST holder who hasn't been to a cup game gets priority over someone who has been to them all, as ST is for league games. With that though, you have to understand some ST holders might not make them because they're midweek games and have work/childcare to contend with, which I totally get as well and would be harsh to punish those types. As ever with ticketing, there will always be somebody who feels shafted.
-
Disagree. The above would suit me down to the ground, but season tickets are for league games. Members who've been to all of the cup games so far should get an equal chance to a ST holder who hasn't been to any (just my opinion of course).
-
As ever with the Trust, they will protect their own interests over everything else. Whatever suits them best.
-
Wouldn’t be so sure. I’m sure there’s plenty who will disagree, as is ever the case with ticketing, but this competition is (sort of) irrelevant to having a season ticket for league games. So if you’ve attended cup games, you should really be near the top of the pile imo. Thankfully for many, my opinion means shit.
-
Is it though? I'm lucky in the sense that I have access to a ST so if that's the case, it suits me down to the ground. However I'd argue that a purchase history in this competition should also come into it. As others have said, impossible to please everybody. The demand would be off the scale, that's for sure.
-
A good way to do it would be those with a purchase history of the cup games so far, but there will always be a way to piss off someone else.
-
What do you mean by this? Some people gave up their Season Tickets in protest, some over the years due to cost (losing jobs etc), some due to relocation. Just because somebody doesn't have a season ticket doesn't mean they don't put any money into the club. I understand your perspective on it though. It's a tough one.
-
Yeah, this isn't about getting a Season Ticket back - it's about going through with what they said regarding points. They launched a scheme about protecting points and then ditched it when we got taken over. Nobody deserves their ticket back, including me. But points I will always argue - even if I still had mine - should be permanent due to the cost/effort involved. Either way, the points scheme needs reviewed to open it up to more people - specifically youngsters. I've had my day really, but my son certainly hasn't.
-
Not sure mate.

So the Trust launched this scheme in 2019 when it became evident many were going to jack their tickets when Benitez was leaving - it's actually still on their website now; www.nufctrust.co.uk/loyalty-points (not sure how to hyperlink as I'm a fool). They promised to lobby on behalf of those cancelling when we had new owners. Myself and @bowlingcroftycontacted board members, with crofty actually attending a zoom meeting where it was brought up. The consensus was that there wasn't enough people who submitted their points to the Trust in order for them to go through with it, which I think is bollocks. Whether it was 1 person or 10,000, you go ahead with your promise. By the way, I completely understand that I knew what I was doing when I cancelled - risks and all - but I 100% wouldn't have cancelled without the Trust posting this, and bought a lifetime membership on the back of it, which I obviously regret. I followed their instructions, sent them the screenshots of my points back in July 2019 and for us to be taken over and them to tell me nah, we aren't going to bother, is absolute bullshit. If the club made the decision and said no, I would absolutely accept it. But the way they done this hoodwinked me and many others into purchasing memberships and I can't help but think there was an agenda to boost numbers, despite them saying the take-up was low.
