I think the absence of a left sided player in that one is mostly because Joelinton played the second half in the middle so his avg. position drags him over there. ASM fills the gap when you show the subs.

I’m not gonna go through all his games like, but look at his average position yesterday and against Leeds: I do wonder whether Isak will replace him in the side.

I think his fbref profile is in accurate in that it compares him to midfielders. He doesn’t really play in midfield for us. If you look at where he receives the ball on the field he is an attacking midfielder or shadow striker, really. I like him and he’s improved a lot this season, but he needs to start scoring more goals imo.

It’s just astounding that we’ve only conceded 11 goals, like. Only Arsenal are close with 14 and that’s not really that close . Nobody else is anywhere near.

Isak has just played where Willock has been playing to be fair. We aren’t playing 4-4-2. J think people forget how high Willock plays:

When ASM was starting games and playing well, we had Joelinton at left centre midfield and he covered most of the defensive work for that flank. The winger needs to be able to press, but in most games we don’t need to have someone tracking back all the time if Joelinton’s in midfield.
