Murphy is going to cost us playing like this.
-
does VAR not check that? Ball looked to be in play when the foul was committed to me
-
Jacob Murphy challenge for a 50/50, impossible
-
Hall not been his best obviously but there never seems to be a pass on for him
-
gonna be tight on Wissa, this
-
no yellow for the acknowledged dive then?
-
this brand of football where teams just try and kick it off the opponent for a long throw or corner is rapidly killing football for me, like
-
Schar was really good against Burnley. Probably my motm.
-
is this going to happen every time a player hits some poor form now
-
I do feel for him, like. Our usual rotations and triangles have been well and truly found out at the same time that we lost our world class striker who created solutions just by being him. He still has to do better, mind. We still regularly look fantastic without the ball imo, but with the ball we look like a team that doesn’t train.
-
I just don’t think going out and spending loads on more technical players is the answer, like. Our good technical players regularly look absolutely lost with the ball at their feet. It’s a system issue with the ball. I’m not sure how personnel changes it really.
-
I don’t fully agree. Agreed that we’ve always prioritised out of possession work to great effect but imo we are still as effective at that. We haven’t been this bad in our build up phase ever, and the players haven’t ever looked as poor technically as they have this season.
-
I think that’s the most frustrated I’ve been watching us under Howe. I love him and if he ever goes it should be on his own terms imo, but if he doesn’t come up with an in possession plan then he ultimately won’t keep his job for that long. This is a very expensive football team that is unbelievable out of possession but looks all too often like a relegation candidate with the ball in more or less all phases of the game.

I don’t rate Willock at all but I’d have backed him to have made a lot more of that
-
Bruno and Tonali arguably been Burnley’s best players
-
Bruno’s technique in the game man
-
sell everyone man
-
Trippier’s fall off killed us in terms of game management and leadership
-
utterly shocking. There’s no leadership on display at all from anyone either.
-
Tonali looks like he’s given up on this season. It’s so half arsed in possession.
-
like, it’s a goal if Barnes is playing left side
-
have we got any other midfielders who can play full back?
-
67% and 76% pass completion in the first half for Joelinton (who has coincidentally probably been our best player at the same time, the scamp) and Tonali respectively if you ever wanted a snapshot of why we never control games.
