“If you take my beginning as professional at Palmeiras, I played left-wing. At the academy too, national team, the Olympics. I played as a forward and moved to the front," Jesus began. "Then I was second striker [at Palmeiras]. Then I became a centre-forward. In the national team as well, things happened. That’s how I came here [City]. In my mind, I was always more of a winger than a forward." The striker continued, "I think that with my qualities, I help more from the wing than from the centre. I’ve been playing like this for the national team since the Copa America." "It’s nothing new for me, nor for many people in Brazil. But here [in England], yes. Maybe they don’t follow [Brazil National team] so much.”

Still got a few years left on his contract at the moment? Two years after this season, plus option by the club of another year on top (that clause seems to be everywhere these days). Can’t see his fee dropping too much by next year.

This. Think of the bore holes that could’ve bought.
-
Hope you had your jabs beforehand.
-
Ah- hadn’t read that- thanks ?
-
Was that the case? I was of the thinking that we probably thought Arsenal had the transfer sewn up and when we realised they were waiting until summer, we immediately jumped in. I don’t see Bruno as having any correlation to the lack of Carlos/Botman etc. I don’t think we’d have gone for Burn if one of those transfers had come off.
-
I think they will utilise the free transfer market for at least one of them to save that outlay- don’t know if Kamara has signed for anyone (know he’s linked with Atletico I think?) but he’d be ideal, or someone in the same situation. Plus Longstaff contract is still up this summer, no?
-
Why can we not sign a Paqueta type as well as a DM type to both complement Bruno? Why only a short term signing? The club has been strongly linked to the likes of Haidara, Kamara, Phillips in the past, as well as the more attacking players. I think they’re well aware that we need to strengthen both positions.

Just seems a bit of a no brainer so long as the financial numbers add up (no reason why they wouldn’t imo) and Lyon play ball. He’s a quality player who has a very good relationship with probably our current best player and would add further quality in the same vein as Bruno to our team.
-
In an opposing viewpoint, I think he really looks a player, and think that there’s more than one reason that we will at least try and sign him this summer. It’s proven that he and Bruno can, and indeed relish, playing together, even without an ‘elite’ DM alongside them (which ‘elite’ player did it for Lyon?). His wage demand would not be dissimilar to Bruno, given that he’s currently on around £50kpw. I know that you disagree, but even if he wanted more than Bruno, I don’t think the club would instantly dismiss the demands. As to whether he is suited to the PL, I’m not sure why you are questioning it? He has ability, pace (maybe still a little ‘slow’, like Bruno…) technique, an eye for goal, is a team player and can play across the pitch in numerous positions (that we are desperately in need of, to create and score goals). His attitude and character also seem to be top level. I could only see him signing and being an instant fan favourite as well as another dressing room star. edit- I think that the only reason why we might not pursue his signing is if the club identifies another player who is even better in all the above…
-
They waited a fair while to buy the club, despite the obstacles put in their way, in fairness…
-
Witsel at 33 is too old for what we should be doing, imo.
-
Personally, yes. Howe deserves time and patience, given what he’s achieved this season. Who’s to say if Poch could do better? I’m confident that any blip will be temporary. We’re bound to have the occasional bad game or bad result, but in the long run, with the right signings and backing/investment throughout the club, we will only be moving up, and that will be with Howe in charge.
-
Did you miss the Saka and Smith-Rowe suggestions?
-
Like Gilmour, started the season strongly, but both seem to have slowed towards the second half of the season.
-
I’m only kidding- easy mistake. ?
-
One having a ‘Z’ in the name is the giveaway ?
-
Gallagher clearly been taking lessons from Zaha
-
Ali Dia maybe. Milton Nunez? Nee chance.
-
All wishful thinking at any rate- haven’t seen anything about interest in Rashford from us in the media, and can’t see us paying the money required at the current time, even if he was for sale. I’m sure Howe would be undoubtedly interested though, if Rashford gave any signals about leaving.
-
I think we’re looking elsewhere from Nunez because he’s told us that he wants a CL team, not because we won’t pay a big price for him. Although with interest from other teams now (Arsenal?), his price is bound to have increased.
-
If we spent £40m on a midfielder from abroad with zero PL experience, we will certainly spend 50+ on a striker with the same characteristics, if we identify the right person. It’s been reported multiple times about us bidding £50m for Nunez already, although who knows for sure. saying we won’t spend 50m on one player….I could see Abraham potentially more than that?

There’s a one year option to extend, that his club has.
