  1. Levy’s probably found out Potter will be significantly cheaper.
  2. Conte straight swap with Poch, surely?
  3. Nope, but you do get the multiple sticking plasters they’ve been patched up with to make them ‘adequate’.
  4. Barca are supposedly keen on Raphina aren’t they?
  5. Lingard is not a RW. He plays centrally or on the left.

“Charly says: Change the pink seats for us, free of charge….meowwww” ?‍♂️?
  7. It is terrible, yes, but with the likes of Wimbledon banning Russian players, it’s only a short step from that action to the FA saying the same thing.
  8. You forgot his main priorities of a) money, and b) Michael Owen.
  9. Don’t think Beckham was too bad either.
  10. Tough little street fighter was Diego. With a low centre of gravity!
  11. Think we’re just hedging our bets on whether an alternative/better addition becomes available nearer the time, like Lodi. If not, i’m sure we’ll happily pay the £15m!
  12. I’d also question spending £15m on Targett and then even more on another first XI LB. Also can’t see it with the club currently negotiating with Dummett on a new contract.

The argument isn’t because he’s 30+ - everyone is aware of the impact a good experienced professional like Trippier can have on the team. The opinions against signing Lingaard is that he’d immediately be our highest earning player, and that he barely makes it past 4 goals a season in the Premiership for the last 12 years (other than his West Ham purple patch), as well as predominantly playing in the AM/LW position which we don’t particularly need (Lingaard is not a RW). For the salary, there will be better options for us. If we need to take account of free players, I’d rather we look at the likes of Kamara and then put the cash saved towards an attacking player instead of Lingaard.

Didn’t fancy coming permanently but wanted to wait and see what league we would be in and what other teams would be interested, for him to get his last big signing on fee?

Apart from using inflated wages that could go on someone younger and better?
  16. Unlikely I’d have thought. I know we have been previously linked, but with Fernandinho leaving this summer, I’d imagine Pep will want Stones to stay and potentially cover there, CB and RB.

There were plenty of reports saying he only wanted a loan move and to reevaluate at the end of the season in order to get his new big signing on fee as a free agent. eg: https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/8325478/man-utd-lingard-loan-move-newcastle-interest/amp/ https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10419497/amp/Newcastle-rebuffed-Manchester-United-sign-Jesse-Lingard-loan.html “Lingard favours a loan over a permanent transfer, enabling him to keep his options open”

No, but it means they haven’t got long left at the highest level, especially as an attacking player, unless they’re Ronaldo / Messi / Ibra level. And even more so when they rely on speed and fitness. This would presumably be Lingaards last contract and as such would want much more than the 100k he’s currently on. A purple patch at West Ham doesn’t indicate to me that he’d be worth the cash, especially at his age.

Carasco, Dembele, Jesus, Barbosa, Martial, Bergwijn, Diaby, Johnson….we’ve been linked with plenty of ‘wide’ players.

On his day, I’d say he’d be able to do a job for us….but his day over the past 10 years has only really come in a very limited period for West Ham, and I think he’d be declining for us as a speedy attacking player for the next four years or so on an inflated wage (potentially our highest earner). There are better younger players who I’d prefer. If we NEED to buy players on a free contract, and use cash to purchase others, then fine, but I’d personally be a little disappointed.

In their mid 20’s, yes. Not coming to 30 on their last payday.
