I think the frustration with the Bruno yellow was the fact that Bruno has been on the receiving end of so many of those recently and consistently the offender has just been allowed to keep doing it again and again.

Probably would agree with that too. Some var guy could go "clear obstruction off the ball there" and at next stop of play give a yellow. Line has to be drawn somewhere though and even if its just for diving inside the penalty area specifically I would like that.

Really agree that there should be an exception to card people in retrospect for diving. There is no deterrence now. You might succeed in fooling the VAR team, but if you dont there is no punishment most likely.

Watching that Spurs game didn't exactly lower my expectations here.

Seems to get everything right all the time. Thought we had 4 effective subs yesterday which hasn't been the case for most of the season. Having Wilson come on up top, and 2 decent wingers in Anderson and Gordon fresh to re-ignite our intensive press was amazing. Also Joelinton coming on to run around like a madman with all that pent up energy, Fake Bruno was just scared of him and pussied out of the challenges. Imagine next season if we can get 3 or 4 more top class players to fight over positions his toolbox will be so much better. He has so much class as well. Happy to tell the opposition wanker to fuck off to his face, but still maintains class in interviews which make the likes of Klopp, Ten Hag and Arteta look like the petty little people that they are. Story of our season this if we don't get top 4, poor finishing from midfield. We are playing so well, but I don't want to know the amount of points we've thrown away this season from panicking in front of goal. Longstaff arguably should have had 1, Willock most definitely should have had 2. The 2nd miss is pretty bad but the first is the worst by far. The goal is open and I'd liken the finish to a girl pushing a ball away after someone throws it at her unexpectedly. Really hope this won't be another game where we end up wishing someone hit the back of the net. We are so much better than this trash Manu side.

Just watched the offside situation again and i really shouldn't have, raging again. You can clearly see the defender reaching for the ball and kicking it away.

It is worrying how every year we seem to get more of the "raising the bar" just for regular fouls and yellow cards. Against Wolves we had it exactly the same that defenders were basically manhandling Isak with both hands and getting away with it. Many refs seem content to do as little as possible and just let VAR deal with the "important stuff". They're just getting worse.

Oh well. We tried and could have gotten something with a bit of luck. Nothing to be ashamed of. They could replace their right back to cover our threat with a very good defender once they got the booking on Dalot. We brought on Matt Ritchie in the end. At the end of the day their squad is a lot stronger, and we probably needed the first goal. I'm sure we will be back and will compete in this competition in the future.
