Absolutely buzzing and see no reason why we can't get top 4 again with this team. Individual players aside we are so well-drilled. Everyone knows their job to a tee. A very good example for me at how well coached we are was when they countered on one of our first corners. Our fastest player in Anthony Gordon was clearly assigned to deal with it, and caught Diaby. I wasn't too sure about the price of Maxi, but you can see Howe just wants his wingers to be predictable and do exactly what he expects, and thats why we have Barnes and Gordon now instead. Our press will also have a new dimension this season as both sides will be as competitive, Gordon was doing just as much as Almiron, if not more. I also think the team that started is going to be the strongest for most of the season. Thought Gordon was a slight notch above Barnes in presence, and i absolutely love having Barnes coming on for the last minutes with his finishing. Being able to swap out our front 5 at 60-80 minutes to just re-ignite this press for 90 minutes is going to be invaluable. Thought Trippier and Gordon were the best players today, with a special mention to Isaks quality even though he made some poor decisions, he still managed 2 fantastic goals. For the negatives obviously Bruno seemed a bit slack, might he have had a bit too slack a summer with getting married and all compared to the rest of them? Also thought Wilson made some poor decisions, wanting to beat Isaks scoring tally. Also our discipline, we got 3 yellows today that should have been avoided. The other team were dirtier by far and the ref was crap, but we ended up on about the same amount? That being said if we had had the Brighton Luton ref today Villa would have got about 10 cards? Last point, co-commentator is annoying!

Madley is a wanker. We are actually frighteningly good in my opinion. Villa id say is the toughest team that will come up here after City and Liverpool, our style kind of suits theirs of punt it up to the fast players. Still feel that we could have had 2 more if Isak and Bruno had been a bit more on it in terms of decision making and passing today. Miggy and Gordon were even flagging a bit towards the end, at least its exciting that we have Anderson, Barnes and to a degree Murphy to come in and replace them once the tank runs out. Can't help but feel we should have forked out for Diaby though on the right to pressure Miggy, that would have been pretty insane.

For me 6 players should be the aim, not expecting to get all of those. I'd rather we get 3 signings right and build from there, than get 6 signings in and have a couple of disappointments. Disagree with buying any "squad" player. All players should be the best we can get in any given position, they can fight it out for the shirt. I'd go for 2 defenders, the focus being pacy defenders as that is our main weakness. The likes of Nunez and Watkins have had field days once we've gotten it wrong this season. A pacy strong centreback who is good on the ball is probably the most difficult player to find after a top striker, but that should be the aim to challenge Schär for RCB, with Burn challenging Botman for the LCB position. We should also get as good a left back as we can, with pace. 2 Central midfielders, Maddison or any other similar box opener, and someone who can play the Bruno role. We only have Bruno in this position and its a real weakness when he is out. 1 more striker that is at the level of at least Wilson. If Isak and Wilson are going to start the match, we to be able to bring someone off the bench, also only 2 strikers in the squad is really thin when it comes to injuries. I would love someone who is strong and fast like Ivan Toney for this, but I guess the gambler-addict won't pass the "no-dickheads" test which is fine. 1 quality winger, possibly just a forward who can play either wing or striker. I would prefer to have 4 players who can play striker for us. At the end of the day I'm quite relaxed that the club will get it right anyway.
