  1. I posted this yesterday. If you go back and watch the replay, Miggy shoots (instead of taking it to the corner) right on the 90:00 mark. There's another one minute and 20 seconds, and two possession changes, before the Trippier screw-up. And there were four minutes plus of added time. He couldn't have kept the ball in the corner for four minutes, or even one minute and 20 seconds. Maybe Miggy should have learned to use his right foot and to speak English (and yes, he should have taken it to the corner), but he gets scapegoated and undervalued far too much. At least Eddie understands his value.
  2. Yes. It's not just failing to win one game. All the effort of beating City, then pulling off an amazing win at Old Trafford, and then going toe-to-toe with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge for 90 minutes, all rendered meaningless by one ridiculous last-minute brain-fart. We should have been looking forward to a semifinal against Boro and another trip to Wembley, but instead we're back to contemplating the injury list and wondering if Ashworth is going to jump ship. I was euphoric after the City and Man U games but in retrospect it might have been better psychologically and physically if we'd just lost to City as expected.
  3. Always reminds me of "tight-lipped ashen-faced supremo Ron Knee, 59," manager of Neasden F.C., who used to appear regularly in Private Eye. Shows my age, I suppose. Hope Tripps isn't ill, of course.
  4. Love his attitude. Always positive. Nothing seems to get him down.
  5. Yes, that's undoubtedly a big part of it. But there's still been a huge gulf between the quality and style of home performances as compared with away.
  6. We played them at home 24 days ago, had 54% possession to their 46% and beat them 4-1. Our starting line-up had 7 out of the 10 outfield players who started today's game. It was: Pope, Trippier, Lascelles (c) (Dummett 87), Schar, Livramento; Miley (Diallo 90+3), Guimaraes, Joelinton; Almiron (Murphy 87), Isak (Ritchie 81), Gordon (Ndiweni 90+2) So this time we had Botman instead of Schar, Longstaff instead of Big Joe and Wilson instead of Isak. Otherwise the same. Yet this time we had only 22% possession and were constantly on the defensive. Obviously home advantage isn't the only factor, but it shouldn't make that much of a difference
  7. Maybe we only have to buy him if he starts a certain number of PL games for us?
  8. I went back and looked at this. There was about one minute and twenty seconds, and two changes of possession, between Miggy's ill-advised shot and their goal. Yes, he should have gone to the corner, but it didn't really lead to their goal.
  9. Yes. He can go and spend all someone else's money on chronic gamblers with tiny teeth.
  10. They're as mad as hell and they're not going to take this any more. A bit like another Beale.
  11. Killing off 10 minutes with shithousery is one thing. Killing off a whole 45 minutes plus all the minutes added on because of that shithousery is another. With only a single goal lead it just takes one screw up or stroke of bad luck to do you in. If we'd tried to "kill off" the whole second half and it didn't work, we'd have been rightly criticized for negativity and not going for the second goal which would probably have been decisive.
  12. Maybe. See if he puts in a transfer request next August. Doubt any club would match the salary we're paying him.
  13. I'd tend to trust Eddie's judgment over Louise Taylor's musings.
  14. Think we should just forfeit the rest of our games this season, get relegated, have a much easier season in the Championship and start building a new team. Or maybe the club should just disband altogether. Howay the lads.
  15. Didn't realize he had a kid already. He's only 17 FFS.
  16. "Manchester United did some good things going forward against Galatasaray in the Champions League on Wednesday, but they also did some bad things at the back. Newcastle United will feel hard done by after the way they lost to Paris St-Germain on Tuesday and I think we'll see a strong performance from them back at St James' Park. Eddie Howe's side hammered Chelsea at home last weekend and I think they will overrun Manchester United too. This could be a difficult evening for Erik ten Hag, and the end of his side's run of good results in the league. Sutton's prediction: 3-1" The BBC actually pay Chris Sutton for expert analysis like this,
  17. It's really hard to understand. In that last 45 minutes there were no goal celebration delays. We made no substitutions to justify added time (granted PSG did, but they did them in a tearing hurry.) No stoppages for VAR checks. No lengthy injury stoppages -- no stretchers brought out. Even if you assess 10 seconds each for delayed goal kicks, we didn't take anywhere near 48 goal kicks in 45 minutes. Seems so random.
