Am in the minority that didn’t think we played bad football under Rafa? It seems to be something that’s hoyed at him but aside from the games against City and Liverpool I never felt like it was bad or boring. Aye we were defensive and played on the counter but it wasn’t Pardew or Bruce levels of cluelessly bad.

other than win trophies is this a wind up? Have to agree here. That’s the point I was making. Even in the last 10 years it isn’t comparable and Poch doesn’t come close. I’m not saying he’s a bad manager at all... but he isn’t Rafa is he and he’s not even coming close.

don't be, like any sport there's a tiny % who actually understand it the rest read what they're told and follow, a bit like life rafa is the only guy for us like, if it cost 20m to break his contract it'd be worth it I even mean objectively. Remove the emotional connection to the club from his spell here. Look at trophies won, clubs managed, transfers, everything. It’s an absolute no brainer. Has to be Rafa for me regardless of what level of investment is going to be put into the club. If the investment is significant anyone else that would never have touched us with a barge pole previously is here only for the money. It may read overly dramatic but Rafa gave me my club back when I’d all but lost the love for it. I believed in his vision and with any level of investment with an intention to be better I believe he is the right man to execute it.

Given this now looks increasingly likely I’ve hit the point where I’m expecting it to go wrong and the fear of that hopeless feeling that will arrive it we’re faced with more Ashley. Fans on Twitter are also grinding my gears talking about signing Mbappe - even the ironic ones, talking about how wealthy a club we’ll be. For once can we not appear to be absolute divvies to the outside world. Even if it happens we’ve got absolutely no idea what level of investment that we’re likely to see.

Doubtful. If it got Rafa back and we grew organically I’d be more than happy. f***ing perfect, that. This! I just hope if it happens we’re a club with an intention to grow, progress and compete. There isn’t a manager I’d choose over Rafa.

I have zero understanding of all of this but feel like I’ve been burned before when all of the monochrome companies house stuff was going around.

For some fans I feel like Dummet has never recovered from his inexperienced days where he was really quite rubbish. I also think it’s hard for the average fan to really get behind a fullback when they’re so limited going forward. I like him though, probably shown the biggest improvement in any young player we’ve had in years. By that I mean he was really awful and now positionally and defensively he’s arguably one of our best. I also quite like the fact Pardew told him he would never be a Premier League defender and years later Rafa rates him as one of the most under appreciated. Classic Pards.

I went through a phase of thinking he needed to be moved on asap. It was around the time of the Leicester home game under Rafa where we capitulated in the last 20 minutes or so. He was all over the place that day. He’s grown on me though and he’s been valuable this season. I’d still probably chose every other centre back over him if everyone was fit though.

This. Not by much either. It’s amazing to think no one took a chance on him before Rafa.

@Colo's Short and Curlies I see your points but surely it would be more beneficial to do absolutely no sporting events until the new season.. assuming it has passed. I haven’t seen a solution where there aren’t clubs that will feel aggrieved.
