A little bit curious why some of the ‘hate the club and want us to lose’ lot keep posting on the forums and match threads? Not looking for bites here just generally curious as I know there’s some decent posters that have taken this stance (some absolute whoppers in the match threads as well mind). Think if I was in a position where I was wanting us to lose every game I’d just walk away from it entirely.

I disagree. I thought he had a great game. Every other player, apart from Bentaleb, looked liable to f*** up whenever they were in possession. Matty isn't a great tackler for sure, but his work-rate makes up for that, to a great extent. I think his lack of ability to cover ground will end up preventing him making it to the top sadly. He's very good on the ball, but in the premier, ability to close down seems to be a premium attribute these days, and I'm not convinced his attacking qualities will be enough to make up for what he lacks defensively. Unless he plays as a withdrawn striker rather than a midfielder. It made it even more baffling to me that Bruce played Sean in the 10 role rather that him as he seems more natural in the holding type role whereas as Matty is more of a goal threat. I guess it paid off for him in the short term.

We are far more likely to be sold with gates at half the capacity while stuck in Championship mid-table limbo for a few years than coining in money as a PL club. We have no idea when we're likely to be sold because all logic points to him cutting and running with a profit and not at a loss. Disagree with this HTT. Or at least partly. Ashley isn’t going to want to write off his debt/loan. Some harsh comments in here. It’s easy to re-write history now he’s pace has him too slow for the Premier League but he absolutely dragged us through games in the Championship when we looked lost for ideas. Same for the first season back in the Premier League. He’s a squad player now and I still think he’s got a lot to offer assuming he isn’t going to be in the first team every week.

I thought the opposite with Matty. Second cup game I’ve seen him play where he completely goes missing in the second half and his closing down/tackles is nowhere near the player. He’s got a long way to go if he’s going to make it at a top level.
